Why When I Plug In My Headphones I Hear No Sound Comes Out

My headphones are plugged in, but I hear no sound.?

maybe try going to start, control panel, and then "sounds and audio devices" and maybe THAT'LL help... also next to the time, that little arrow that hides little icons? try clicking the "Volume" button. Both of these have the same little megaphone speaker thing, just an fyi

hope you get it fixed! : )

When I listen on headphones, the sound generally only comes strongly through one speaker, usually on the left. Is there some way to get it coming through both speakers?

Try reversing the headphones so that the left earpiece is on your left ear and vice-versa. If the weak sound is still in your left ear then get your hearing checked. If it is now in your right ear then you probably have a hardware problem. It could be your audio device, the socket, the plug, the cable or the drive-unit. Try moving the cable, if you hear interference or the sound level changes then you probably have a loose connection somewhere.

Why does less sound come out of left headphones/earbuds?

First you should make sure where the issue comes from. Try another set of headphones. If they work well the issue is with the phones if it does not the issue is with the player or the phone.Once you reach a conclusion where the issue is you can find if the problem is with the balance of the phone or player or with the female plug of the player or if it is some sort of software issue. If you found out the issue comes from the phones you either have a cable issue as was pointed out by another user or you have one of the loudspeakers on the hedphones that is no longer working properly. You can try measuring the impedance of each loudspeaker at the plug and compare them.

My phone doesn't recognize earphones when I plug them in. Absolutely no response. What should I do?

Is it an Android phone ? or Apple ?If it is Android, when you adjust the phone volume, there will be a symbol at the right that looks like either a gear wheel or an arrow pointing down. If you tap this, it will display 4 separate volume controls. The Media volume has to be higher than zero, for any sound to come out for music, or game audio. This volume is separate to the volume level used for ringtones and speaking/hearing on a call.If the volume level is correct:Try the headphones on another device, to check that they work properly, or try another pair of cheap earphones in the connector. Sometimes the earphones connector seems like it is pushed all the way in, but is not completely in. They often make a click noise when they are pushed in completely. Also, check the rating of the earphones, are they standard earphones ? or fancy ones ?Sometimes the Ohm rating is too high, so the device can’t drive the earphones unless the volume is higher than normal, or an amp is used.If the headphones work on another device, and a second pair of headphones doesn’t work with the phone either, then it sounds like the connector has a wiring fault.

My computer says my headphones aren't plugged in?

When I try to plug my headphones in, it says that they're not plugged in and the sound comes out of my speakers. I know I'm plugging them into the right port. Do you think it's a problem inside of my computer that I'll have to get fixed, or do you think that it's something I can do by myself. Btw it's a computer a friend build for me (but I moved so I can't have that person fix it for me) and it has worked before. Recently I had it shipped up to me and I guess it could have had something happen to it then.

There's no sound on my computer with or without headphones?

I had in headphones for a while, and then suddenly couldn't hear anything, even took off the headphones, and I still can't hear anything. the volume is turned up all the way, and yes, I checked the other one (wave), but that was all the way up too! I don't have speakers the sound comes directly from the computer. and also, I use spotify, and I can only hear from spotify, but not google chrome. (I HAVE WINDOWS XP)
what do I do?

What am I hearing when I pull my headphone cord out halfway and the sounds sound like they're coming from a tin can? What causes it?

You are hearing the signal from your audio device being partially interrupted. The audio signal leaves your device as low voltage electricity. The sound is encoded in electricity as quick fluctuations between positive and negative. This electrical signal travels down small wires in the headphone cable. There is a ground wire and a hot wire for each ear. Inside the headphones are small speakers. The speakers are made from a natrual magnet, an electric coil, and a diaphram/cone. When the electrical signal goes into the coil it makes a magnetic wave that pushes against the natural magnet. This coil is attatched to the speaker diaphram so that it moves too. The moving diaphram pushes the air in between the headphones and your ear createing a pressure wave that you hear as sound. When the plug is pulled part of the way out two things can happen. First less of the electricity gets through the plug because less of the metal on the plug is touching the metal in the jack. Also the signal can be shorted out to ground. The first thing will make the sound quiter and less precise. The second thing will make the sound pop, click, buzz, and cut out. Sorry if this is confusing. I wrote it very quickly off the top of my head. I tried not to include too many details, and just describe the basics as simply as I could.

No sound from laptop speakers or headphone? Icon states "not plugged in"?

I have a Gateway Laptop. Model: kbyf0 Model nv73, the sound will not. It doesn't not work with headphones either. It wont let me turn the sound on, says "not plugged in". I have reformatted the laptop to factory defaults, tried updating driver (says that Im already using the best and latest driver available), disabled the driver and then enabled after a few minutes. I have disassembled laptop and check all the wires. I have windows 7. I have already ran a scan and it did not detect any problems. In the device manager it states that the audio controller cannot start code 10.This happened a cpl weeks ago. I simply restarted the laptop and it delayed the prob until the past few days.

Static sound coming out of bose headphones ae2 at low frequencies?

Hi. I've had my Bose AE2 for about two weeks and I can say I haven't had a lot to complain about until now, quite the opposite actually, I love my headphones and I think that they're amazing considering the price. I listen to a lot of EDM, Trance specifically, and I've noticed that during the breakdowns of the song, when only the lower frequency sounds are playing, there is a very annoying static sound coming from my headphones. It's not just for one song in particular but it happens to all. I've tried messing around with my laptop's equalizer and lowering the intensity of the lower frequencies, I tried cleaning my laptop's headphone socket (although it would be weird for it to be dirty as I've had this laptop for only about 3 weeks), plugging and unplugging the headphones, lowering the volume, nope, nothing worked. Before I send them in for assistance, is there any way I could fix this problem myself? Could it be a problem of the laptop's soundcard and not of my headphones? I tried listening to the same songs on my phone and there seems to be no static sound coming out of them. Thanks a lot.
