Passports: How do I remove the immigration check required stamp from my Indian passport?
First, it’s not Immigration check required stamp on your passport, it would and should be ECR: Emigration Check required.It comes when the applicant is not literate enough, that is, he is doesn’t have the minimum 10th standard pass. It is to protect the passport holder from being exploited from unscrupulous jobs in the Gulf etc. When you pass through Security check, you go through additional scrutiny to ascertain that you know and understand where are you going in terms of employment and it’s confined to when you travel to only a few specific countries.To remove ECR, you can submit your educational documents and they will put ECNR that is Emigration Check Not required.

Are images/messages shared on WhatsApp stored by cyber crime cells?
WhatsApp has their own Privacy Policy which states that all the data sent are encrypted and only the sender and receiver of the image/text can view its content. How ever, WhatsApp’s Terms & Conditions stricly specify the fact that it does have log of conversations for a period of time, and such data may be shared to Law Enforcement Agencies. That being said, WhatsApp does not give direct access to Law Enforcement Agencies like Cyber Cell to take view logs. It does have a compliance procedure, which has to be followed by the Law Enforcement Agencies for such content to be shared. To put it in short, sharing of any illegal content, when reported, will be taken action, and the cyber-cell can retrieve such data to take legal action.
What happens behind the scenes when you apply for a U.S. visa stamp in a U.S. consulate? What could make the process take so long? Why is it repeated if you leave the country? Why doesn’t anyone care that people are stuck away from their loved ones?
I have gotten this beast called 221g Admin processing 4 times (1st with my F1) 3 times with my H1B visa. All the previous times, the wait time was exactly 4 weeks. For this 4th one, I am still at the beginning of 4th week.2004. F1 Visa: Applied at US Chennai consulate on 22nd June 2004. Officer glanced all my documents and returned my passport with 221g written back of it. No questionnaire nothing. I had no idea at that time about 221g, so was clueless. contacted the university and they drafted an email why I am coming to the university with all the fees paid for. Don’t know if it helped any, I got an email from the consulate on 21st July 2004 (almost 4 weeks) to come to the consulate with my passport and no additional appointment or fees. Went the next day and same officer was there and no questions asked or didn't even look at my face. He said my visa was approved 5 years and I will get it in 3–4 days.2012: H1-B (University of Texas at Austin, non capped): Officer was friendly and he said unfortunately I have to go to the administrative processing. And kept my passport and gave me a green colored slip wit case # and asked me to submit my resume, support letters to the email I will receive. I replied will all the answer s and documents, and got an email on 28th day saying passport ready to pickup (got my visa).2015: H1-B Capped. Officer was very friendly. Told me again, i have to go to admin processing. gave my passport and a white color slip with my case #. Replied all the questionnaire same night. Got an email on 28th day to submit my passport. I did and got my Visa2017 Dec 29th: H1-B capped: Officer was nice and asked few questions about my research and how many publications and patents I got. And, said unfortunately we do this administrative processing for your case every time you come to the consulate. However, you can avoid this if you come for an visa renewal within an year from my clearance date for my previous case (and pointed out to the clearance date on my 2012 stamping). This is the first time someone in the US consulate suggested it. So far, I am at 25rd day (as of 22nd Jan’18) into this 221g admin process wait game. I think I am kid of seasoned in waiting. But again the current US government shutdown and if it causes any federal departments that are involved in clearing my case, it might be delayed.Point is, the average wait time is about 4 weeks for my case.Good luck everyone.
Do people realize that you can send marijuana through overnight carriers with zero detection?
Yes, many people realize that you can ship all kinds of things that are illegal or unsafe to ship through air and ground carriers. Cannabis seeds make it through US customs daily, cannabis by the ounce and pound are shipped all over the US, and I imagine cocaine, heroin, molly, etc are all shipped too. It's a numbers game that is far and wide in favor of the senders and receivers. There isn't time for the carriers to scrutinize packages, not even 1%. Most are for-profit companies that want to make money shipping stuff, there is no profit in busting people. Unless, there is an on-going investigation and the investigator caught wind of the shipment and obtained warrants, outside of individual targeting, people are rarely caught doing this.My friend was "caught", he shipped an ounce of cannabis from Michigan to Florida overnight by FedEx. He surmises that the envelope was a little too fat and the processing machine was jammed by it, FedEx said one of their machines damaged the envelope and tore it. This all happened in Atlanta, Georgia, FedEx gave him the option to destroy the package, which he gave them permission to do. That was the end of it, no federal or state law enforcement actions at all.I also know someone who received 5lbs. of garbage cannabis at her shop in the name of a former employee via USPS. Things that can harm employees, contaminate vehicles, or take-down aircraft are the bane of the industry.I have a 20+ year background in security, part of my experience includes high-risk transportation, logistics, and industrial safety. My company has transported dangerous caustics, explosive ammunition components (military components), and dangerous biologics. This is a country's real danger that travels on roads everyday and everywhere. I would tend to think that anyone attempting to transport a large amount of drugs would either use their own plane or hired freight liner.
