My phone will connect for about 5 minutes then will disconnect. After this it doesn't recognise my wifi at all!

It's isn't a problem with my wifi though because it happened to me whilst I was in my friends house the other day using her wifi.

why is this and does anyone know how to do fix it?

Why won't my phone connect to my BSNL Wi-Fi?

A confusing question, in relation to the feedback given thereunder, as there are several process to avail the Broadband WiFi facilities from BSNLHowever, while connecting Android Phone or Tablet through WiFi (Wireless Internet), one may come across unique problems. After following through all the user guide and configuration steps, still problem persists. If you are facing such problems, keep on reading to get the solution. Sometimes, an attempt to connect WiFi, we struck at an error starting - “Obtaining IP Address”. This error occurs when the WiFi Router/Modem to which we are connecting is not able to allot an IP address to the connecting Phone or Tablet. Both the devices are by default configured in DHCP mode. DHCP mode ensures allocation of an IP address dynamically by wireless router. In order to solve the above problem, you will have to configure your Android Mobile or Tablet to use “use Static IP”. Just carry out the following steps in your Android Handset or Tablet.Setting to fix “Obtaining IP Adress” problem in Android Handset/Tablet.Go to Setting => “Wireless and Networks’ => Click Left Button and choose Advanced option. In “IP Settings” tick “Use Static IP” and fill following values:IP Address : 192.168.1.50 (instead of 50, you can put any value between 2 - 255, make sure it is not clashing with any other device connected with same router).Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (Wireless Router IP)Netmask : 255.255.255.0Network Prefix Length : 24DNS1 : 8.8.4.4. (I am using Google DNS address here, you may also choose the one given by your ISP)DNS2 : 4.4.4.4/8.8.8.8Settings to fix WiFi “error” problem in Android Phone/Tablet.Sometimes, while attempting “Turn on WiFi”, you may get “error”. Mostly on restarting the Phone solves the issue. But, there is simple fix to this problem. You can reload WiFi driver without restarting the Phone. Just dial *#*#526#*#*, and it it will reload the WiFi driver. Now try to connect the WiFi and it should work.

How do you fix an iPhone 5 that won't connect to wi-fi?

It usually has to do with the encryption. I've noticed some iPhones have trouble connecting to access points using AES encryption (as opposed to TKIP). Most wireless access points / routers give you the option of one or the other and some give the option of a combo of the two.Unfortunately, short of modifying the settings on the AP, I don't have a reliable way of correcting this issue short of recommending a newer phone (I've not noticed the same issue on the iPhone 6 series).Just FYI, AES is more secure than TKIP, so a lot of techs will opt for AES by default. That being said, hacking TKIP secured networks isn't exactly easy either. Also, I believe that some APs will not exceed 54mb using TKIP.

Why won't my wii stay connected to the internet?

The connection may not have enough bandwidth to download whatever it is on to your wii. It takes up a lot of wifi, especially if it is only a hotspot and not an actual modem router.

Phone connects to wi fi but my netbook won't, why?

I'm on holiday in the US staying at a hotel and my Galaxy S3 connects to the hotel's open wi fi straight away. However my Samsung N210 netbook will not, it sees the network, however when trying to connect after a short while i get the message "Windows was unable to connect to ... Wireless Network" At the previous 5 hotels the netbook has connected to wi fi with no issues. I did have this problem at another place but it connected after multiple attempts although both connections to the phone and netbook would drop fairly regularly. As the phone is connected now, my thoughts are that its more an issue with the netbook right?
