Why Wont Emoji Work On My Android

How to get emoji on android?

there's an app called "Emoji keyboard" on google playstore. I have a galaxy s3 and you have to go to settings > languages and input > and select emoji keyboard to be displayed. HOWEVER, you can't see the emoji while you're typing them. They show up like this --> ______ (android wasn't built to support emoji)
Also, the app doesn't have the new ios 6 emojis- though I think you have to download an extra plug in for that but I haven't them explored that yet.

Recently, my Galaxy got a new update and now I can see emoji that people send me (most but not all)
Before, I couldn't.

The other app you can try that I have is called "Chomp SMS" You don't send emoji directly from your native keyboard, you have to go on the app and send it from their messenger but it's basically the same thing. And you get all of the new ios 6 emojis! (other apps like GO Sms have now begun charging for those)

There are many options and you should explore all! Just go on google playstore and search "emoji" or "sms" etc. related searches.

Why won't my Emoji work?

How can I get emoji to show on my android??emoji?

Hello Mark.
I also have an Android 2.3.6. (Samsung Galaxy Proclaim) and have a sort of workaround way to have emojis. It's not as easy as an iPhone, but we also do not own iphones.
First, get the Emoji Codec 2 app. This app allows you to copy-paste the annoying blank squares into the field within the app to show you what emoji it is.
SMS apps like GOSMS Pro also supports emojis, as long as you also download the GOSMS Emoji Plugin app. With this, you don't need to use the Emoji Codec App for texting (however, the GOSMS Emoji Plugin only works within GOSMS. It will not help you if you're on Twitter or elsewhere. That's why you might want the Emoji Codec 2 app I suggested).
To include emojis within my keyboard, I have the KII Keyboard app, and the Handcent Emoji Plugin app. The Handcent Emoji Plugin app is the only one that will work with KII (the GOSMS Emoji Plugin will not work on your keyboard because that plugin does not "plug in" to the keyboard, it "plugs in" to GOSMS itself).
I know this is a bit confusing, but go with it, download what I said, and you'll soon be "ohhh, NOW I get it!"
It's the best combination I've found to get the best emoji support on a droid, besides rooting.

Why can't I update the emojis on my Android device?

The thing is, Emojis in Android are usually only carried over to the newest version. iOS ones just stay there because their code never changes, they look about the same way they did when they first came out. Android has different styles for each system. Samsung have theirs, LG as well, Nexus/Motorola have their vanilla emojis, and so on. Since you're usually running iOS on even an iPhone 4–6s+, then it's just a globalized thing. No need to recode or delete or change things, put the feature in and it works out of box.
