Why Wont My Hair Get Healthy

Tips on how to get healthy long hair?

I’ve struggled with extremely damaged hair for a long time. I have naturally curly hair, but I straighten it every day (i know, so bad). My hair is now very short, thin, and uneven because the back grows but the sides won’t so I’m basically rocking a mullet. I’ve been using Monat products for about 4 months now. I was hoping that it would change my life but I’ve been so disappointed with it. I also take biotin and I’ve been drinking lots of water. My hair looks and feels better but it will not grow and I’m so insecure about it. I know cutting out the flat iron is probably my only option to get it to grow, but does anyone have any tips or different ways to help with growth? Thank you so much in advance.

Why do my nails grow long and healthy but my hair doesnt?

You're not damaging your nails LIKE your hair, that's is WHY.
If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling. Hormonal changes can have a big effect on hair.

Remember: The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

Why won't my hair get lighter?

One possibility is that using a hair drier didn't do what you thought it would. Hair bleach needs ammonia to lighten well. There is ammonia in the formula. Blowing the hair with a hair drier will drive off a lot of the ammonia and lessen the amount of bleaching. You might cover the hair with a second hair cap to keep the mixture warm without letting ammonia escape.

Incidentally, the blue colored bleach powder does almost nothing to cover up orange tones in the hair. You're better off using a toner after bleaching.

Why won't my hair get any longer?

Genetics play a factor in hair growth. Sometimes a person’s cannot grow hair any longer than a certain length for this reason. Nevertheless, I suggest taking a hair vitamin, such as Nature’s Bounty or Nature’s Truth that contain 5000 IU Biotin, which is recommended by doctors in the field.

Why won't my hair grow any longer?

If your hair is very long, it could have reached its 'terminal age', which is the maximum length of time a hair will take to complete its growth cycle, which means that this is as long as your hair is going to get.  It's always growing, of course, but once you reach what most people call terminal length (which varies considerably for many people.  Most people can grow their hair to mid-back; many people can grow hair that's much longer), that's it.  Your hair will continue to cycle through growing-and-resting phases; it simply won't appear to get any longer.Hair can grow more slowly and have nothing to do with terminal age/length due to dietary changes (weight loss, lack of protein or B-vitamins in the diet), hormonal changes or imbalances, thyroid issues, all of which can be dealt with easily and most can be diagnosed from a simple blood test.  Some medications can slow hair growth, too, so if you've started taking something new and you notice reduced growth and/or thinning, for example, it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doctor. If hair is damaged, it could also be breaking off at the ends, although this won't be consistent. If you are having regular trims (as is recommended every 4-6 weeks), you won't notice you hair getting longer because it's being trimmed off at the rate it grows, or more.  Of course, you hair will become healthier in the long run, but it won't gain any noticeable length.

If I stop straightening my hair, can I get it back to healthy?

My hair isn't super bad but I do straighten it pretty often. It's pretty thin. I want to grow it out and get it back to a really healthy state! Without cutting it off, is it possible to repair it? I know my ends won't be perfect, but that's okay. Like I said, my hair isn't very bad to begin with, and I use salon conditionar and shampoo, good straightener, and heat-protecting spray. I am prepared to completely stop straightening my hair over the summer if that's what it will take. THANKS! :)

Why won't my hair get straight when I flat iron it?

The tips of it stay wiry and rough, no matter how many times I run the flat iron over them. And all of my hair is stiff because the tips make ot clump togethor. And the rest of my hair, not the tips, get straight but like a minutes later it poofs up and gets frizzy all over, like almost curly again, what am I doing wrong??? Its only should length and im trying to grow it out to my belly button, so I hate to have to trim the ends. Is my hair just too dry? I use a rinse out conditioner but not a leave in, should I start and put alot on the tips??? I use 410 F heat setting, because my hair is 3b/3c type, so it takes that much heat to get it straight.

Black Hair: My hair wont stay in braids?

I do the same exact thing sk8ergrl does..except when my hair is really dry and I don't wash my hair (because it's drying to wash every day) I agree with brushing your hair really good but if your hair is really tangled a day or two after you wash it..use a wide tooth comb, slowly to get the tangles out..then brush it to prevent breakage. Use natural oils like tea tree oil or sweet almond oil..or if you want you can just get braid spray. If your scalp is dry..you can use unrefined virgin coconut oil..it helps to grow your hair too..doesn't quicken the growth process but it helps it get healthy...when you get to the point where you think you have to wash your hair every day...2 words for you...dry shampoo! if you doo get a scarf yo wrap your hair, make sure it's a silk one. Dn't touch your hair after you style it because it frizzes if you do.
