Why Would People Oppose China

Why would some people and nations oppose trade and specialization?

The first reason that springs to mind about opposing trade would be the effect it has on local economy.

Some countries can produce products cheaper than what other countries can - great for offering people choice, but can impact on local businesses as they are not as competitive to their own demographic. Countries that also produce products more cheaply may be using means untoward to do so as well - i.e. cheaper materials, unpaid or lowpaid workers and bad working conditions.

Update -

Sorry, thinking about specialisation as well. Obviously specialisation produces gains for the economy, but the initial impact will cause job losses as specialising in one area of industry will cut back on other areas that are not related to this particular industry.

Workers who are not employed in the specialist area will either be out of work (increase in unemployment benefits) or have to be retrained (increased costs for training, increased costs due to amount of time workers are not working, lowered efficiency as large section of work force unemployed).

Hope I helped :)

Why did the Burmese people opposed China goodwill to build Burma Yunnan railway which would bring better economic opportunity to the Burma people?

I suppose you have seen thisNow, let’s go with it. I hate to tell, but you have to remember one thing:Myanmar, like I said, is one of the world’s poorest nations, only share level with Haiti, Yemen, Iraq to DR Congo and Zimbabwe. It is even worse than Laos and Cambodia, nor even in same level with Bangladesh. So why do Burmese seriously dislike? I suppose it was more than that. It was history. In the past, many wars between China and Burma happened through 10th century onward. The latest war was the Qing-Burmese war. While we didn’t win this war, we caused serious damages that Burma was unable to recover, leading to later being crushed by Britain.Burmese also believe that China is supporting Shan and Kachin rebels as well as the large presence of PLA near its border, also sexual smuggling and unequal economic conditions. Chinese believe Myanmar is getting disgraceful for resenting China’s goodwill as China is an emerging superpower that is trying to help a poor Myanmar to developAnother is the situation of Chinese and the kabyas (Sino-Burmese) people in Myanmar, which is turning bad recently. Due to the long ethnic war, and recent anti-Rohingya movement, Chinese people (recent immigrants and the Panthay Muslims, especially Panthays) and kabyas have returned to China seeking supports from Chinese Government. I’m watching Rohingya situation carefully because I doubt this might be the same reason Myanmar is treating its minoritiesNo matter what, Myanmar should be careful with what are you implying for. We maybe very bad, but you can’t find out any other trade partners like China. We have a lot of projects and now our nation is much confident, situation is different. You should know that

Why did the Vietnamese people oppose China 9 dash line so strongly given it only overlap little portion of 200 miles of Vietnam EEZ from their shore?

On that map the red dashed line is smaller in the southwest than the Chinese dashed line is. I think the actual Chinese line is less than 100 miles away from the other countries’ shores. And on the other hand, it places the Gulf of Tonkin maritime boundary, which actually is agreed, farther toward Hainan then the actual midline. It looks like someone drew lines by hand that only roughly resemble those on more precise maps.I haven't been able to find the ultimate source of the blue line that bulges so far to the northeast. Some Western professors published a map with this but I don't yet know how they arrived at it. I am pretty sure it does not correspond to actual Vietnam claims, which are standard 200 nm for EEZ and named island groups for islands.

Why do many Taiwanese oppose annexation by China?

It would not be annexation. It would be one state eliminating another and becoming the lone Chinese central government. The current situation is one country, 2 states as in the ROC and PRC.Korea is also one county 2 states except their territory is more evenly divided.China has had many periods in history where multiple states existed at one time to make up one county.Annexation is one country taking another country over.It would be considered to be unifying the country, or overthrowing the other state.

Why do most Chinese people including the Taiwanese oppose the abolition of the death penalty?

The sanctity of human life is a Judeo-Christian concept that is alien to Chinese culture. In Judeo-Christianity, men are created in the image of God, and life is sacred. There is nothing like that in Chinese philosophy.Let me use an analogy for Taoist thoughts on human life: human life is like an annual that goes through the four seasons. Youth is like spring. Adulthood is like summer. Old age is like Autumn. When winter comes, it dies. It’s the law of nature. The death penalty is analogous to pulling up a weed. Weeds are bad for the garden. Do you not pull up the weed in your garden because its life is sacred? I guess not. What about Confucius and Buddhist attitudes? Confucius had ordered the death penalty of another officer when he was an officer in Kingdom of Lu(孔子誅少正卯), and that is seen as the right thing to do. Though the first precept of Five Precepts for Buddhism is ‘you shall not kill’, it’s not the same as the Ten Commandments. The Buddhist attitude is killing people creates bad karma for you, so you should avoid it. But there are strenuous circumstances that justify killing in Mahayana Buddhism, for example for a Bodhisattva to save people on the boat by killing attacking pirates. Because a Bodhisattva acts out of compassion, not hatred, he will be in hell only for a brief time. The other Chinese idea is that the penalty should be commensurate with the crime to be just. For murderers that deprive the life of others, why do they deserve to live, while the victims die? This seems unfair to Chinese. In short, human life is not a sacred, unalienable right in Chinese culture. And not punishing heinous crime with the death penalty seems unjust to Chinese.P.S. I know many arguments against the death penalty, including it’s ineffective in preventing heinous crime, it couldn’t be reversed if the wrong person is accused, it causes undue suffering, etc. I’m simply putting out the most important arguments for it for a typical Chinese, IMO.

Why do more people oppose globalization rather than support it?

Most people support globalization in principle, but oppose the way it's being done. The way globalization is being done is to concentrate wealth, to give all the power to capital and none to labor.

Agreements like GATT, etc. make borders totally porous to capital, so corporations and investors and banks can roam the world looking for the cheapest labor and other resources, and the richest markets. But borders are still barriers to labor. A worker in China can't decide to move to France to make more money and have a better life.

The ultimate result is that the wealthy 'owner' class gets richer and richer while every nation's labor is in a 'race to the bottom' to keep jobs in the country. All the jobs in rich countries are moved to poor countries for cheap labor. That's not good for workers -anywhere- because workers in poor countries stay poor and workers in rich countries become poor.

For example, NAFTA, a trade treaty between Canada, the US and Mexico, ended up lowering wages and working conditions in all three countries! How could it do that, you ask? Because that's what it was designed to do.

Do Chinese people who support their system think that Westerners are brainwashed to support democracy and oppose China?

Mankind are inevitably affected by politics in regions where politicians live well. Odds of one’s being brainwashed depend on how weak his/her ego is.Instead of “…westerners are brainwashed to support democracy and oppose China”, I’d rather say it is the modern capitalism enslaves the world by implementing various strategy of brainwashing in different countries and regions. The same trick does not play well everywhere, so the arts of brainwashing is to find out the needs and weakness of the mass in different countries. Therefore, I don’t believe that westerners are brainwashed to confront us, but it is all of us are brainwashed and oppose each other in the modern Colosseum.
