Why Your Birthday Should Be A World Holiday

Are birthdays considered holidays?

Hello. - No.
In my opinion, a individuals Birthday should be considered as a Holiday.

Have a nice day. :)

Where can I find a calendar of all holidays and birthday for marketing purposes?

Year 2015 Calendar - a useful site to browse through holidaysI wrote a blog post for global "awareness days" and regular holidays that might be useful: US & World Holidays to Plan Your Marketing Calendar Around | Spark Up Arts

Do you think you should have to work on your birthday?

I am a barista at a local coffee shop and just started training a new employee. He seems surprised that he is scheduled to work a nine hour shift on his birthday. I explained that because he just started here and we just had someone quit that he does, in fact, have to work. His response was that "it's my birthday" and he wanted to 'compromise' by coming in late or leaving early or just working a half day. (For the record, I had to work the 4th of July, and work the next 8 days in a row for mostly 10 hour shifts (I get one 3.5 hour shift on what should be my day off), if anyone is leaving early I think it's me). We are both in our early 20's and many of my peers seem to think that just because it is his or her birthday that he or she should have the day off work. Do you agree? Is this something of a generational thing? Really, I am just interested in other people's thoughts and if those of you who think that you shouldn't have to work on your birthday are also in your early twenties.

How long should a person keep holiday/birthday cards before getting rid of them? At what point is it socially acceptable to get rid of them?

You may use the following rules:Mother: until the end of the world.Significant other: until the end of your relationship, or until one of you dies, whichever comes first.Parents, relatives, siblings and the like: a number of years equal to 10, minus one per degree of separation* (never less than 2).Friends: one year at least.Mates: until the day after they see you have kept the card, or until one year, whichever comes first.Colleagues: you have to bring them to work and keep them one year or until the colleague dies or leaves or retires or is fired, whichever comes first.Acquaintances: asap.Cards acquired after a relative died: if a leaving family member knows the deceased person and the sender of the card, you are in the obligation to treat the card as the deceased would while respecting these rules (rule number 8 included**).If a person sends you a card, use the rule corresponding to the highest level of closeness you share with them, with the additional constraints of the other use cases. For example, if the CIO of your company is your Mommy, you have to keep each card sent during a work trip on your desk, without duration limitations, however awkward this might be.*Degrees of separation: count the number of sexual intercourse required with existing persons so that you and the other person can exist. For example, you are two degrees far from your sister (your parents must have sex twice at least, unless you're twins). Cousins need two pairs of grandparents to have sex twice, and the resulting children to have sex once so they can exist. Hence their degree of separation is 6.**Inheritance rule: suppose your grandpa dies and your mother gets one card (sent by his mother) as part of his legacy. She should keep it until the end of the world (rule 8, rule 1). If she dies you become the keeper. Same rule applies unless you are the only one left in the family who knows your mom and your grandpa.Hope this helps. If I forgot any cases, please tell me.

How do u spend your birthday alone?

Not only did I spend my birthday last year alone, but I was also in a very strange foreign country! I just went shopping for DVD's and treated myself to a relaxing day watching movies and eating excellent food to go!

Also go on the net and brag about your birthday :)

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate birthdays?

It’s a religion with a strongly austere flavour and celebration of Christmas, Easter, birthdays, Halloween and (of all things) Mothers Day were all progressively prohibited on the grounds that they have pagan roots. For some years even singing at Jehovah’s Witness meetings was not permissible. It was only in 1951, under Watchtower Society president Nathan Knorr, that birthday celebrations began to be described as "objectionable", with the reason given that they were "steeped in false worship" and exalted humans (because every time a human is “exalted” that’s one less bit of praise for God.)Much is made of the fact that two birthdays described in the Bible, those of King Herod Antipas and the Pharaoh of Egypt, were both associated with the killing of innocent humans. This, says Watchtower, tells us that Jehovah does not approve of birthday celebrations. But consider:The Bible character Job probably did celebrate birthdays (see Job 1:4,5) yet was favoured by God;The Bible similarly only ever refers to dogs in highly negative terms, yet Jehovah’s Witnesses are not forbidden from owning dogs; and let’s not forget that …God also repeatedly killed innocent humans.Jehovah’s Witnesses continue to use wedding rings despite their proven pagan origins, and continue to refer to days and months by their common name despite their plainly pagan origins. Oddly, JWs have also been told that pinatas are not offensive despite their pagan origins because … well, because they have no “current false religious significance.”The bottom line is that it’s a very arbitrary thing, and whatever the Governing Body (or a previous Watchtower president) ruled, must be adhered to, and justifications worked up around that. Disobedience of the Governing Body is regarded as disobedience to God, and evidence of “independent thinking” and rebelliousness; those who persist in celebrating any prohibited event would be formally expelled and subject to organised shunning by friends and family. Jehovah’s Witnesses are simply to taught to obey unquestioningly … or else.

Why has Netaji's birthday (23rd Jan) been removed from Indian national holiday list? Is his contribution any less than Gandhiji?

Why are holidays so important to us?A great soul like Netaji who asked us to strive for the freedom of our country would certainly like for us to develop it as well. In my humble opinion, i believe that our great leaders would have wanted our country to be at the top of the world. However, this cannot be achieved through holidays. Like our freedom fighters struggled for independence, it is our moral duty towards them to struggle to improve India. So asking for holidays on the birth or death anniversaries of freedom fighters or political leaders doesnt actually make sense to me, personally speaking. Hence, I don't think that Netaji would mind his birthday not being a holiday, I would rather like to think that he'd be more happy to see us work.I dont think that this actually answers your question. But please understand that, in my opinion, every fighter should get equal importance as it was the collective effort which got us independence and not the actions of a few.P.s. thanks for the a2a Debashish Biswal

Are there any religions that don't celebrate birthdays? If so, which ones don't?

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays nor any holidays. The first century Christians would not celebrate birthdays because they were pagan traditions like all the holidays people celebrate. Early Christians even died before they would celebrate such a pagan festival. Today the holidays are just an excuse to party. People pretend they are a way to honor Jesus but they are just pagan festivals that were celebrated to other Gods. You can research them and find the truth about these holidays.

What is the most unnecessary Holiday?

Well I would say April Fool's day but I don't want to get the Atheists mad at me! :o)

Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
