Wii U Hdd Y Cable Vs External Power

Why is my external hard drive not showing up in my computer?

Answering to give another option of what MAY be the problem. As you stated the hard drive isn’t showing up in “my computer”, I’m taking this as you mean within the “folder” My Computer (or simply Computer for newer versions of Windows), it may need to be formatted and drive letter assigned. This is a problem I run into every blue moon and after about 15-minutes of fidgeting around I figure out this simple problem.Open the start-menu, and right-click on “My Computer” (or “Computer” for newer operating systems), then select “Manage”. Once the Computer Manager window opens, on the left side panel, expand “Storage” and you should see “Disk Management”, select it. Within the main window you should see all your drives on display: OS (C:), CD/DVD (D:), and so on. Look for a volume that defines your external hard drive but doesn’t have the parenthesis around a single letter. This is likely your new external hard drive.Right-click the volume, then select “Change Device Letter and Paths”. In the next window click “Add…”. And in the next window click the radio button for “Assign the following drive letter”, then in the drop-down to the right, select a letter for the drive. Once done, click OK and back in the main Computer Management window, the volume should now read “Volume_Name_here (F:)”, where “F” is the letter you’ve assigned to the hard drive. The external hard drive should now show up in My Computer (Computer).Again, not saying any of the existing answers wrong, but giving another potential answer due to the lack of details given. Is it possible to connect 2 computers with a USB cable?

You mean with a cable like that? Absolutely. It is ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE to connect two computers with that cable. However it is most definitely PROBABLE that if you do use that cable there to connect two computers, you will damage one, if not both of the computers. You didn’t ask if it was possible to connect two computers with a USB cable so you could transfer information. You didn’t ask if it was possible to connect two computers with a USB cable so you could share an internet connection. You didn’t ask if it was possible to connect two computers with a USB cable to actually do something useful. You just asked if it was possible to connect two computers with a USB cable. And it is.Now, there once was a USB Transfer kit that had those two ends on it…But see that big huge thing in the middle they are going out of their way to emphasize and show off? That thing is what makes the difference between frying one or both computers… and actually facilitating a transfer of information. This is a Belkin Easy Transfer Cable… and it was made to use with Windows 7, to be able to transfer information easily between one computer and another. So if you had asked… Is it possible to connect two Windows 7 computers with a USB cable to transfer information… I would have said “Yes” and pointed you to that device. Why? You would have provided information about the task you were looking to accomplish and information about the specific systems. Note how I’ve been specific about the OS here. Why? That cable was made to use functions of Windows 7. It requires different, specific software to work with Windows 8… but there are no Windows 8 or 10 compatible drivers. You’d have to use the Windows 7 drivers, and the Windows 8 specific software to TRY to get it to work on Windows 10, and you likely won’t. We gave up on getting the one we had at work, to work with Windows 10, and switched to PC Mover software over the network. Is it possible to connect 2 computers with a USB cable? You just asked if it was possible. It is. Whether or not there is a device to allow what YOU specifically have in mind to work… that’s another story.

USB loader GX problem on wii u...?

A few things:

1) Wii U USB ports don't have enough power coming out of them for the portable USB drives that rely on USB bus power. While Y-cables can work, I've heard that sometimes they don't draw enough from two ports, either. So make sure that you have an externally powered drive (plugs into the wall).

2) The hard drive could be falling asleep. Windows and Macs know how to handle this to properly wake it up before trying to use it, but the Wii/Wii U do not. If this is the case, you'll have to find an admin tool for that hard drive from the Samsung web site and configure it to never fall asleep. If the failures happen consistently around the 10min point, this may be the likely cause.

My Seagate external hard disk makes a beeping sound whenever I connect it to my laptop. What's the problem?

First of all you should do SMART TEST for your Seagate Hard Disk.Download for your OS from the link belowSeaTools | SeagateInstall and run the software and then run SMART test for your HDD.It will detect most of the problems for your HardDisk.Second the beeping problem you are referring to happens when your Hard Disk lifecycle is about to end. Here is the graph for the lifecycle of the Hard Disks:-It seems that hard drives have three distinct failure “phasesn the first phase, which lasts 1.5 years, hard drives have an annual failure rate of 5.1%. For the next 1.5 years, the annual failure rate drops to 1.4%. After three years, the failure rate explodes to 11.8% per year. In short, this means that around 92% of drives survive the first 18 months, and almost all of those (90%) then go on to reach three years.Graph source :- EXTREME TECH.
