Wil Throwing Alot Of Punches Like 100 With

Could throwing punches in the swimming pool increase speed and power?

All aquatic therapy/ workouts rock! Executing techniques in air, on targets, or in the water will all increase speed and power

BUT

water will allow for other benefits such as reducing stress on joints so you can add extra workouts in between-- great cross-training! Water also helps to lower blood pressure via hydrostatic pressure! It will help filter out your body by exerting pressure on your body but you will need to use the bathroom before the workout as well as hydrate lots afterwards(about 1/2 your body weight in ounce of water is good --more is better! i.e. 200lb person should drink 100 ounces of water) If in warm water you can add other benefits such as reducing pain because the warm water(90-94 degrees) will increase endorphin release faster than just regular temp waters.

Not only do I do my katas and other techniques in the water I also do Ai-Chi( basically t'ai chi but in the water)-- great for breathing as well as balance and overall muscle control! good stuff!

good luck training!
Happy New Year everyone!

How many punches can The Flash throw in a second?

It doesn't have to be exactly a second, just like how many punches can he throw in a short amount of time. If there is any sources or scans that would be helpful.

How do I train my stomach to withstand punches and blows?

I do Muay Thai. And we have a workout which is to step on your abs, you need to ask boxing partner to step on your abs with his own body weigh more or less  depending on how good  your core is. So you start we lighter partner at first to not kill yourself...Each time he steps on you, you should hold your abs tight and super short stiff exhale, prolonged exhale is no good...it will relax your abs too much. But the best workout is surely to Throw a medicine ball, on 3rd and 4th abs which is fine to bare at first with a 5 kg(you can increase 9kg  or 13 kg ball later). Softness and hardness has a very different effect on workout, the hardest we had in the club has a texture like basket ball. We use to set 100 throw which you can split at your pace. When you are comfortable with that you should aim Solar Plexus and this is the most important part to get stronger, it's really tough but you will see results very quickly when you get there.  The last and the toughest if you feel fine at 13kg medicine ball is to ask your partner to push the ball down with both thumbs, just try with 5kg at first to see how it feels, it's a quite crazy feeling but you will get use to it the more you do it. Important thing is not to use your hands to catch the ball which happen at first a lot because of being scared...Since this workout I can take pretty heavy punches from much heavier opponent now which i couldn't do before and started this workout 2 months ago about 2 to 3 times   a week and i do lot, lot of other abs as complimentary work out. Actually you can bare quite some straight punches with the palm facing the ground but try as experience to use short  uppercut on the Solar Plexus level no need to add lot of strength on these punches and you will feel how weird you feel after few, so that shows actually how weak is this part...Positioning in this workout is like doing crunches but with  your legs between your partner's legs, he should squeeze your legs between his legs at knees level when your partner throws the ball on your abs. So you start on crunch position, your partner holds the ball, you come up and touch it,  kind of to give your partner green light. He throws the ball on your abs and then you give him the ball back make sure you go up like crunches and don't just extend your arms to give the ball and so on until you die ...hahaGood luck and give a feedback if you can share how effective this workout was.

Why does throwing a punch expend so much energy?

Because if you do it right, a punch is the equivalent of half of one full high-speed pushup; doing it right involves pushing forward with all of your strength, as fast as you can, against as much resistance as you can overcome.Impact to your hand and injury to your carpals and metacarpals does not by itself consume much energy, but certainly takes a lot of your attention, and you may consume extra energy trying to deal with that injury and its pain.

Is the Superman Punch legal in boxing?

I think this is an excellent question!

You see the Superman punch in mma. You particularly see it in Muay Thai kickboxing because it originated there.

If it is legal in boxing I have never heard of a boxer, at any point in time, use it.

I know that Floyd Patterson used the, "Kangaroo Punch" and he leaped toward his opponet with a hook. But this was more a small leap forward than jumping straight up in the air like the Superman punch. It was more subtle than the Superman.

I think it may. I guess no one has tried it because it is still rather exotic. It is only know in mma circles and muay thai. Maybe one of these days will see it in the ring.

The only problem I see is that it looks like you are faking a kick when you execute it. That would be problem if you are feinting a kick while punching. But, this is the only problem I can think of why it wouldn't be legal.

Hopefully someone can provide a 100% answer. I just had to throw my opinion in on it because it is an interesting question.

Punching bag for 14 year old?

Would anyone suggest a good weight for a punching bag for a 14 year old? I've been learning punches and jabs and stuff, but I usually throw punches at the air, and as you can imagine that's not working for me. So I'm wanting to go into boxing and learn how to start fighting to protect myself (highschool freshman, can never be too safe), and Christmas is coming up so I thought what better way then to get some boxing equipment.

Would a plain 100 pound bag be good enough for me to throw at? I don't want to start out light then have to keep buying new bags. I'm not really weak...I work out and lift as often as I can. Just recently I've started to really hit lifting and excerising hard, as well with a new diet and some cardio.

Anyone know a good brand of gloves, punching bag, speed bag, etc? Like a list of everything I should get if I'm really serious about training and boxing.

When ever I throw a strong punch at it, I feel immense pain in my wrist. Is there anyway to change my punch or any product to buy to prevent this?

Well, there area few reasons that this could be happening. Here are a few common reasons that your wrist might be hurting when you punch:1) Improper equipmentYou should really be punching the bag with gloves and/or hand wraps. If you're punching bare-fisted, the force is being absorbed by your joints instead of by the gloves. Good gloves absorb the force and spread it out to save your hands from acute stress. Good hand wraps help brace the bones in your hands and wrists so that they don't move too much when your punches land.Rest assured that professional fighters will never train without gloves. If you must punch stuff with no gloves/wraps, then don't punch hard.2) Weak wristsIf you're new to punching stuff, your wrists might be weak. You can throw punches with lots of power, but your wrists haven't been conditioned to handle it. In this case, try to do exercises to stabilize the wrists. Pushups with closed fists are the classic. Continuing to practice striking with good technique will also strengthen your wrists over time.3) Bent wristsThis is probably the problem. Your "powerful punch" is probably a hook or otherwise some kind of looping, swinging punch, and our tendency is to bend the wrist to really dig in when the punch lands.DON'T DO THAT! Keep your wrist 100% in line with your forearm, and use your ELBOW ANGLE (i.e. bend your arm more) to get your fist pointing the right way.Keep your wrist straight at all costs. If you're bending your wrist at all when you punch, you are 100% doing something wrong. Fix it.4) Contacting with the wrong part of the fistYour punch, ideally, shouldn't be your whole fist landing on the bag. It should be the first two knuckles, with special focus on the middle knuckle. The reason is that the middle knuckle is the one that naturally lines up with the bone in your forearm, so following the same principle as keeping a straight wrist, the force gets absorbed into your arm instead of your wrist joint. When you punch, focus on driving your middle knuckle into the bag. If you're hitting with other parts of your fist, there is something wrong with your technique and you need to fix it.Hope that helps-- Keep those wrists healthy!

What are the benefits of the punching bag?

You can practice your accuracy, as well as what it would be like to essentially hit a 100 pound man (If you have a 100 pound bag) at full speed. You can also strengthen your wrists for punching. And ankles for kicking.

Plus you can see if you're punching wrong at full speed.

How do I deal with someone who punches non-stop?

In boxing:Watch a Floyd Mayweather, Herol Graham or Dwight Braxton/Qawi fight. They evade or shell up well, or both. Mayweather couldn’t bang at the end of his career, his hands were too mashed up - but look at how he fights a swarm boxer to get around that. Roll, weave and hook; never let the guy go if you connect, even with a long right - for example, find an example of the Mayweather triple right: he connects with the right, so he does it again longer, and then again maybe even a bit longer somehow. Because of this I figure his left hand is mashed up more than his right.Stick your head on his chest and stay close to that position. Hardly anyone knows what to do then. You need to be good at short hooks and uppercuts for this tactic. Tyson for example was a fearsome fighter and you sure didn’t want to be at mid range with him; but guys who just lay on him, he couldn’t cope with at all. Useless at the body-to-body range.Cover and evade, then bang. You’ll need a big punch or two.Or get well beat. If the guy outboxes you and you have nothing, you get beat. So, learn some of the above stuff. For fighting:Fighters have 4 places to go, not just the one as in boxing. Three are ranges and one is a different area. Kicking (range), boxing (same range as any striking), short range, or the ground. You take it to where he is weaker than you, naturally. With a boxer you stay out long, or go for the short game. Boxing is dead there, they have nothing. Or go to the ground - modern sport boxers are the easiest of all fighters to throw, they have no defence, indeed no concept of what fighting is unless it’s standing at mid range. Unlike old-time boxers of course, who wrestled as well.I’m basically a boxing teacher so I understand this side of it better than most. Boxing is ace as a core system but the modern rules have wrecked it for fighting. Practical boxing - my preference - goes back to the old school method (punch, strike, throw - picking your targets carefully to avoid breaking the hand; and grapple well to defend the takedown), and add in the modern fancy stuff where it doesn’t wreck your fighting ability or break your hand if it’s an off the premises encounter. Thanks for the A2A.
