Will A Clinic Give Me My Medical Records From A Visit

Can I get a new doctor without medical records?

Transferring actual medical records can be a real headache for the sending and receiving medical practices. Different practices have adopted different software that, unfortunately, do not always have compatible data formats. So, that can mean scanning in a printout that you get from the sending practice. Unless you have a very “interesting” medical history, it may not be worth the hassle. There are some things that a physician benefits from knowing with some degree of accuracy. During an initial intake exam, you will probably be asked for your medical history— whether and when you’ve had various diseases and surgeries, whether your parents or siblings had heart disease, diabetes, etc. If you have a recurring problem, it is helpful to know when the problem has arisen in the past. If you’re memory is not accurate, that can lead to erroneous assumptions by the physician.I changed medical practices a decade ago. I had the records from one of my specialists printed and taken to my new primary care physician, who had them scanned so that the specialists in the new medical practice would have access to them. It has been helpful to the new specialist’s diagnosis on two occasions to have that specific information (test results, presenting symptoms and when they appeared) because the new diagnosis would have been different (and wrong) without that information.Almost any medical doctor I’ve known will take a patient without receiving their past medical records.

How do I get the original copy of my medical records when I stop seeing a doctor?

This is actually a mess of things like Mr Dan Munro Said. I mean, they might be some old records. And hospitals have a time limit for keeping these records. They have a stipulated time limit until when it is compulsory to keep it protected. Some hospitals keep it for longer time. And retaining the original records will always cost you a bit than you think. You will have to get it reproduced. or if the hospital has all the records stored into their EMR system[1], then it would not be a problem. Also all the hospitals have a regulation where they need to retain a copy if the stipulated time limit has not been completed.Footnotes[1] EHR | EMR | Practice Management | Electronic Health Record | blueEHR

Can you ask your doctor to destroy or hide your medical records you have with them?

I have tried and they always refuse. I had a urologist who treated me for kidney stones. I had several shattered in my left kidney and began having severe pain a week later in my right. Because x-rays had just been done and he saw nothing, he yelled at me during a schedule appointment that nothing was wrong with me and I was just creating drama.I ended up in the ER a few days later and after a CT scan, a stone was found on my right side that was stuck. This was probably the one I was having issues with all along as my pain originally was on the right side but because it didn’t show in the x-ray, it didn’t exist to him.So I found a new doctor to deal with the other kidney stone and the original doctor and his staff were very nasty to me. They refused to send my records to the new doctor, refused to cancel another upcoming appointment, and were just plain horrible to me whenever I had to contact them.I finally told them to shred every evidence that I had ever been treated by the original doctor in frustration because they would call to remind me of appointments I had cancelled or call me because I missed appointments I didn’t make. I was told that they couldn’t shred my records - which I do understand but I was so frustrated at that time with them that it was all I could think of. I did send them a letter in writing indicating the same and also requesting that they stop contacting me. Finally they did.

Why do medical clinics need my social security number?

What difference would my citizenship make?
If I"m paying cash and in full, and not using insurance, then keeping my record straight for insurance purposes is groundless.
I was attempting to a vaccine. Since I don't have to prove that I had the vaccine, I don't care if they can retrieve my record or not. It would be unlikely that they would accidentally give the vaccine I had already recieved to another Karen Star by mistake.

Yes, it is a private clinic, and they can certainly refuse to treat me because they don't like the cut of my jib. I'm not asking about jibs. I'm asking for specific reasons they would HAVE to have - not simply want to have - my social security number.

Does MEPS have access to medical records? I need a current straight answer.?

I went to the Air Force recruiters a few days ago and he asked me if I had ever been treated in the emergency room for the flu. I told him that I had the flu. My recruiter told me to not worry about it because it's not disqualifying. Will MEPS ask for my medical records just because of the flu? Also, do they have access to my records already because I had Tricare? I've asked this question to a few people but no one has been able to give me a straight answer. This has been worrying me for some time. I would really appreciate it if someone has some current answers about this. Thank you in advance.

What can I expect at my first visit to a Pain Clinic?

I had a referral last year to a pain clinic but lost my insurance so I could not afford it. I have insurance now and my first appointment is on Thursday. I have been dealing with chronic migraines and pelvic pain for two years. I have had every test run in the world and the doctors can't find anything, they just diagnosed me with migraines and chronic pelvic pain. The pain is debilitating and has caused me to lose two jobs. I have a good job now and do not want to lose it, I have already missed many days due to pain and am in fear of being terminated so I need to get this pain under control. I have heard nightmarish stories about Pain Clinics....how they treat you like a junky and such. I am scared that they will be hateful and unsympathetic and that is certainly NOT what I need right now. What should I expect? I printed out a years worth of pharmacy activity to bring in. Is there anything else I should do in preparation? Thanks!

I was sick days before I visit a doctor, can I ask for a medical certificate?

If you’re the picture of health now, the doctor will be unlikely to give you a note. If you’re still recovering from your illness, you should be able to get one, though. The fact that the doctor didn’t see you on your worst day doesn’t mean they won’t believe you when you tell them you had some very bad days. They will be able to tell that you’re still getting better, and will believe that you were worse a few days earlier. Also, if you have a chronic illness that comes and goes, and that particular doctor has been treating you for a while, they’ll likely write you a note, because they know perfectly well you might have been far too ill to work a few days ago but be fine now. Or another doctor at your GP’s practice, if your usual GP is on holiday or something, will be able to look at your medical records, see their colleague has been treating you for a while for a legit chronic but fluctuating illness, and will likely write you that note based on your medical records. Some random doctor at a walk-in clinic, though, will likely only write you a note if they see you while you’re still sick, as they don’t have that ongoing relationship with you, nor do they have access to your medical records.

Can my Dr. at Kaiser give me an RX for medical marijuana?

I have heard you need to go see a Dr. at a clinic to get a RX,but since my Dr. just took me off vicodin,is she even able to do that or do you have to go to a special clinic for evaluation? And if so,how would they know about my prior chronic neck pain and the treatments my regualr Dr. has given me. This is a last resort and I will need something for pain, better than pain pills. And I'm afraid to ask my Dr. about it,cuz I dont know if a big Company like Kaiser does that sort of thing, she might think I'm a drug addict!
