Will An Acer Adapter Fit A Packard Bell Dot S Laptop

Why is my laptop screen half black? How can I fix it?

ALL of these people are correct.  I work for Dell as a field technician.  It’s already been said, but I’ll repeat it for emphasis:First, hook up an external monitor.  If the display is good, then the graphics chip is fine… and that’s probably good news, because on most (not all) laptops, you’d have to replace the motherboard, which will not be cheap.  If a motherboard needs replacing, expect to spend $100 plus labor, unless the laptop is an extremely common model (such as the Dell Latitude D500 series, which was purchased by a lot of schools). However, something which has not been said, is that it doesn’t necessarily mean that the motherboard is good.  There is a ribbon cable that connects the LCD to a connector on the motherboard.  It is possible for the connector itself to fail.  In 15 years of working for Dell, I’ve seen it happen once.  Though if it fails, usually nothing displays at all.In any case, if everything shows up on the external monitor, the most likely culprit is that either the LCD has cracked, or the ribbon cable has failed.  A specialist might have a replacement LCD on hand, or at least one that he can use temporarily to determine if the cable is bad.

How do I turn on a laptop without a power button?

I'm presuming that its a hardware fault which needs you to power up your laptop without using the Power button.I guess, your power button is no longer working. If you can open up the laptop, and get to the power button, you can observe that its nothing, but a puch button that completes an electrical circuit. This acts as a signal for the internal controller to understand that the power button is pressed. Now, if my memory serves me right, I saw an answer somewhere by Adrián Lamo, how he, at some point of time, had his Laptop or PC (I do not remember correctly) completely open, like skeleton, all organs and the skin separated. He just made the two wires on each side of the Power button to touch each other, and act as the appropriate signal. If you're okay with that, and feel confident enough about opening up your laptop, go ahead, open it up, Attach two wires, one wire on each connection, and take them outside, then, stick them together with some sticky tape, and whenever you need to press the power button, just short those two wires. And, just in case you don't feel confident and/or okay with the idea of shorting two stupid wires sticking out from your Laptop's power button hole, spend some money, and get the Power button replaced. I'd prefer the first choice. one can hide the wires into a USB socket, on opposite sides, and whenever you plug in a USB device, the outer metallic part makes a short between the two wires. Just, don't use that USB port for anything else. (It might be also mis-interpreted as a Long press.Jokes aside, Go and get it repaired.

My laptop is stuck at the 'please wait' screen! I use Windows 8 on an HP Pavilion g6 notebook, 4GB RAM, 1Tb HD. I can't restart it with Alt+Ctrl+Del, and even F8 isn't working. What do I do?

Remove your laptop from crarging and remove its battery then reinsert it and then try bro
