Will An Athlete Putting On A Layer Of Body Fat On Top Of His Muscle Make Him Less Likely To Get

How can I make my butt bigger without getting fat?

Well to get a big/round firm booty, there are many exercises but the two basic ones are squats and lunges. These two exercises are king in shaping and toning the butt, hips, and thighs. In addition to that, you need to train and workout out your upper hamstrings and glutes so these muscles can push out the surrounding layer of fat around your booty giving it a "plump" apperance that sticks out.Now there are a variety of squat and lunge exercises and this site I will put at the end has all the exercises in detailed instructions with motion illustrations that will accomplish you getting the plump look. Now this website has many exercises but I have picked out a hand-full for you to do that will work best for you. On the page under "barbell" in the Gluteus Maximus, do the front squat, lunge, rear lunge, and the walking lunge. You can try and do all the ones under the dumbbell section. There are a few exercises under the hip abductors and flexors so only do the first or second one. Now all these exercises involve using some type resistance such as free weights, barbell, or cable weights. You can also use resistance bands if you have some. The weights increase the intensity of the exercise so you will tone up the muscle fibers (the slow twitch mainly and the fast twitch). Now after you have visited the site, pic 5-6 of your favorite exercises. Get 4 from the Gluteus Maximus section, 1 from the abductor and 1 from the flexor section. Now incorporate all of these into a "super-set" workout. Do this every other day (ie. Mon, Wed, Fri)

You should try doing "super-sets" to get faster results by doing all those different glute, exercises (super-sets basically mean doing different exercises that work the same muscle groups with little to no rest in between each exercise). This saves time and tones faster. Plus the little rest in between release a hormone that builds your glutes by doing super-sets. You feel the burn as you do these exercises. :-D

Have a lot of muscle, but a layer of fat over it all?

Losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time is pretty hard but it is possible to an extent.

You are going to have to eat perfect. You need to find the calorie level that puts your body in a *slight* state of caloric deficiency. A very simple formula is to multiply 15 calories times your bodyweight then subtract 500 (trust me there's way more accurate and in-depth formulas if you just google it)

So far a 200 lb man ---
15x200 = 3000 cal (caloric maintenance level)
3000 - 500 = 2500 cal (ideal fat loss level)

Ok, so get your number and eat a protein heavy diet (but make sure you still are getting enough carbs and fats - very important) Eat 5-6 times a days and drink a lot of WATER! (this is very important for protein heavy diets)

Having a higher ratio of protein calories means your body will have less carbs to use as fuel (and therefore will burn fat stores for energy) at the same time having ample protein to maintain the muscle mass you already have.

Do cardio at least 3x a week at high intensity for at least 30 min to help promote fat loss.

Keep working out your muscles hard with intense weight training 3x a week.

Make sure you get plenty of rest, take vitamins, get enough fiber and stay away from junk food and soda.

Do this for 3 months you should be able to maintain, if not increase muscle mass while you burn a significant amount of fat.

Good luck!

Does doing sit-ups really make you look fatter?

i heard that doing sit-ups tones your stomach muscles and so helps you look thinner, but then someone else said that actually toned muscle is bigger than untoned muscle so you will actually look like you've put on weight?! or do you just have to do sit-ups and strict diet as well?

Why do they seperate women and men wrestling?

i asked a similar question and got this response from someone

"Olympic wrestling is more a sport of skill than one of shear brute force. Since they would be nearly the same weight it would be a contest only of skill. The woman might have some advantage in having a lower center of gravity, but the man might also have an advantage of greater upper body strength. So any physical advantage one might have, could be negated with superior skill & technique by the other. The motivation to win is also a factor.
The answer is that the most skilled, well trained & motivated wrestler would win; and skill, training & motivation are not gender related.

As for the women having bigger legs, they probably do! A woman's thighs are proportionally heavier & stronger than those of a man of equal size/weight/fitness level!
Men have broader shoulders & more muscular upper bodies than women. Women have broader hips & more muscular legs than men.
Also woman have a thicker layer of fat under the skin than a man's that "smooths out the lumps & bumps" of the muscles underneath. So if a man & woman had the same muscle mass, the woman's would look "bigger" & "softer" while the man's would look "leaner" & "ripped".
This is all speaking of averages of course, there are always individuals with a different physique than the average"

if this is true, then why do they seperate men and women

What part of the body makes a person good at endurance running?

There are several factors. This also applies to endurance athletes in general (Triathletes, cyclists, swimmers, etc.)

1) The brain. Being able to get up at 5am to start training and knowing you can do it and being able to keep the "QUIT" demon at bay is paramount. Being able to train SMART is better than "NO PAIN NO GAIN". Eating right. Patience. There are lots of little details...
2) Core muscles. If your core can't fire at mile 130 then you walk the last 10.6 miles. Good core stability = good form.
3) Nervous system. Being able to maintain good form despite being tired.

Mitochondrial count increases in the cells.
Aerobic capacity (aerobic vs. anaerobic pathways) become better developed. You burn a higher proportion of fat to sugar.
A thickened ventricular wall is generally a common feature of endurance athletes.
An endurance athlete is generally leaner (body fat percentages for men usually end up in single digits). The average body fat percentage for a typical male is between 12%-20%.

I am very athletic but still look chubby. Why?

I am 20 years old, 6'1", 195lb. My body is not toned at all and I have a bit of a belly. I run often (usually 5 miles or so at a little over an 8 min mile pace) and occasionally lift. I usually eat a lot healthier food than my peers too.

Incredibly frustrated. I have been going to the gym twice a day almost every day for four weeks and I STILL barely notice any change. What exactly should I do to get rid of this extra body fat?
