Will Antibiotics Help My Symptoms

Symptoms are still present after taking antibiotics for 2 weeks, what should my friend do?

Antibiotics can only cure bacterial infection so if your friend suffers from a virus its perfectly understandable that the antibiotics didn't work. A viral infection has to be eliminated through the body itself but he can stock up on fresh garlic and bunches of it it can kill the virus. So chopped up garlic about 5 cloves taken thrice daily on a sand which or with food. Multivitamin supplementation will also boost the immunity along with the garlic to eliminate the virus much quicker. Also keep in mind every single time one takes a set of antibiotics you have to finish the whole set so as not stopping after symptoms have improved. That and secondly with every time you use antibiotics you must consume natural yoghurt such as Bulgarian or Greek as to replace the good bacteria to your gut. Antibiotics destroy both the bad and good guys and that alone can trigger much worse illnesses in future so remember those two tips.

Would early HIV Symptoms respond to antibiotics?

What most people don't seem to know, including the person above who got infected accidentally via needle, is that HIV virus does not cause AIDS. If you do a thorough study of people who were accidentally infected through a needle in a hospital setting, you would find out that they do test positive for HIV but never develop any AIDS symptoms.
That's because HIV is relatively benign and does not cause aids. No one will believe this, but (un)fortunately, it is true.

Why are my chlamydia symptoms worse after taking the antibiotics to cure it?

Im female and was recently tested for chlamydia and it was positive. Since I havent been sexually active for 2 years Ive had it for a long time without realising. I was given treatment but symptoms of the infection have gotten worse! Alot of discharge and abdomen pain. Does anyone know why the symptoms have gotten worse? Told my doctor today and she thinks I have a bladder infection but bladder infection symptoms do not include vaginal discharge! Im worried that the treatment isnt working but my doctor says it will definately clear up. Can someone help?

Can I start taking antibiotics again when the symptoms recur?

If you have left over antibiotics to start taking again - you weren’t following the directions which would have told you to take them on a specific schedule and until you’ve finished all of them to help make sure you don’t end up with a recurring infection that is even stronger than the first and potentially now resistant to the antibiotic you were taking. You need to go stop by your doc and get a new prescription - probably for something different than the last one you took so that they can make sure it works and kills the infection.

When should I go back to the doctor's office if my antibiotics are not helping?

Unfortunately too often doctors will prescribe antibiotics for viral infections because it is expedient and patients often insist on it. The majority of sore throats, coughs, and congestion visits are caused by viruses that antibiotic treatment will have no effect. If a patient has a bacterial infection such as a skin infection, bladder infection or bacterial pneumonia and is placed on appropriate antibiotics they should be feeling better within 1 to 3 days. If a patient is placed on antibiotics for a viral illness then antibiotics will not help and the natural process of the immune system healing the body will do its work over time. Unfortunately in many occasions a patient will see a doctor for treatment of a viral illness after 5 days of symptoms and be prescribed an antibiotic which seems to turn things around in a couple of days. If this patient had not taken the antibiotics they would have started feeling better in a couple of days anyway. So next time the patient insists on getting antibiotics as it “worked” so well last time…In my practice I will not prescribe antibiotics if I am convinced that the illness is caused by a virus. If I do prescribe an antibiotic—because I believe they have a bacteria as the source of their infection—I advise them to call back if not improved in 2–3 days.

How long does it take antibiotics to work for a UTI?

Took mines for about a day. Then all symptoms were gone. Mine was a Severe UTI. However, you must continue taking antibiotics even after every symptom has subsided.

How long until my UTI symptoms are gone?

What Are the Treatments?
Most cases of simple acute cystitis in young women can be treated with a three-day course of an antibiotic.

Certain risk factors warrant a longer course of antibiotic treatment. Pregnant women, patients with diabetes, patients known to have kidney stones or other obstructions to the free flow of urine, and individuals who have had symptoms for longer than a week should all be given a seven- or 10-day course of antibiotics. In men with prostatitis, or anyone with a kidney infection (pyelonephritis), the antibiotics should be given for at least several weeks.

The type of antibiotic used depends on the type of bacteria found in the urine culture. Effective antibiotics include trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin or nitrofurantoin.

Patients should also be directed to drink lots of water to help wash the bacteria out of the urinary system. Antibiotics, increased fluid intake, and sometimes anti-inflammation medications are the treatments for kidney infection. If kidney infection is caused by persistent backflow of urine from the bladder to kidney, surgery may be needed. Surgery may also be required in cases where the infection is caused by a blockage, such as kidney stone or enlarged prostate.

To verify that treatment has eradicated the infection, urine cultures are occasionally repeated one to two weeks after finishing the antibiotic. Pregnant women who have been treated for an infection should have monthly urine cultures performed until their baby is delivered.

If the patient is having significant bladder pain and pain with urination, a bladder anesthetic may be given (such as phenazopyridine hydrochloride) to reduce irritation of the bladder and urethral lining. It normally tints the urine a reddish-orange color.

Please help! Antibiotics no thelping my prostatitis!!?

Do not despair. I had recurrent prostatitis at about the same time you did. I occassionally get it but not nearly as badly as I used to.

Here is what I found out. The antibiotics don't seem to work really well and create another set of problems. You basically upset your system because the antibiotics take a scorched earth approach killing bad bacteria and good bacteria. I noticed two things seem to cure my prostatitis as well as kidney stones. 1) Drastically reduce your intake of meat and fat laden foods in general. Go vegetarian if you can. I did (except for occasional fish). Meat has lots of hormones and other toxic substances. 2) Start drinking soy milk daily. It has a mild form of estrogen which I believe reduces the size of the prostate. What you have is BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia). You need to have a prostate exam on a regular basis and also run everything I have said by a Physician.

Also eat a little yogurt to restore the natural bacteria in your gut that has been decimated by the antibiotics.

Many times when we have a condition that is annoying and getting worse we assume that it will only continue to get worse. In my case it has drastically improved. I am 52 and the prostatitis started at about your age. If you are married, you might be passing Urinary tract infections back and forth with your wife. Have a doctor check you both.I am not saying don't take the antibiotics but in addition to taking the antibiotics I would try the approach I described. I know it has worked for me. Be sure to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and one more thing quit drinking lots of sugared sodas. These would cause my condition to flare up.

I believe there is a good chance that your condition will improve.

Can I skip my last two antibiotics (flagyl)?

I had to take metronidazole (flagyl) for bacterial vaganosis (kinda like a yeast infection). The symptoms disappear in like two days but you're still supposed to take the rest of the pills in the bottle to make sure it stays gone.

but you can't drink while taking this medication and it says you should wait to drink until 1 day after you stop taking flagyl. I started taking them last Thursday...I have a camping trip with friends on friday and I plan to drink. So if I just skip the last day there is not a high chance my vaganosis will come back is there?

Please help! Antibiotics not helping my prostatitis!!?

One of the most effective treatment protocols for this problem is a combination of frequent vigorous prostatic massage combined with long term antibiotic therapy. The prostate has a poor blood supply and in order to ensure that a sufficient amount of antibiotics get into this gland, proper drainage is required. Regular massage combined with long term antibiotic treatment should solve this problem.
It is most important to ensure that your sexual partner be treated as well. If your partner is a woman, any recurrent yeast infections are a definite sign of her being infected with a non-culturable STD organism. The presence of these organisms can be proven with a PCR (DNA) test.
If she has this problem, an effective treatment is oral fluconazol combined with a topical antifungal like terconazol together with a prolonged treatment of a newer tetracycline analogue taken orally. Although macrolide antibiotics (long acting erythromycins) work, they can become problematic when combined with oral antifungal medications.
Incidentally, the reason why women develop vulval yeast infections 'down there' is because the mucous membranous lining in that area has lost its integrity from an underlying nanobacterial infection. This type of bug cannot be grown in a typical lab. Keep in mind that yeast is everywhere and opportunistic. Conditions have to be just right before it can make a home anywhere on your body.
The unfortunate thing is that a lot of healthcare providers aren't aware of this phenomenom so it's often treated erroneously.
Although the fluoroquinolone antibiotics are very effective, minocycline has been proven to be very safe when used long term.
