Will any of these fit my Optiplex 780 SFF (small form factor)? If they don't, can you suggest any graphics cards that give perfomance close to these two?

What graphics cards are comparable with the Dell Optiplex 780? I’m not worried about it being (physically) fit into the case.

My first question is why? The system is old and very dated as of 2018. Performance is low even compared to 4 to 5 year old Core i3 and i5 processors or their AMD equivalents. If you have a specific need or are trying to keep attached equipment running, yes it will work but is the maintenance cost and time keeping an old machine running worth it.Also as noted anything newer would fail to give you better performance or may be incompatible with the graphics adapter slot. The Optiplex 780 was a good reliable machine. I use one at home still as my firewall with the factory original nVidia dual monitor graphics adapter, honestly I don’t remember which nVidia chipset now.

Will the GeForce 1050 DDR5 fit in an OptiPlex 780?

There are 4 different form factors of Dell Optiplex 780. Most GeForce 1050 cards would fit into the mini-tower version. If you have one of the smaller form factors, it gets more difficult. You can’t determine fit based only on the graphics processor model. You need to know how tall the card is (regular vs. low profile), how wide it is (single-slot vs. dual), and how long it is (in inches or cm).It may also be important how many watts the card requires, though most low profile or single-slot cards require 75 watts or less. So this is usually not an issue. If you have the small form factor version, it looks like you need a single-slot low profile card. The fastest of these that I am sure exists is the EVGA GeForce GT 1030 SC (02G-P4-6338-KR). I have heard that there may be a 1050 or even 1050ti which would be significantly faster, though I have never actually seen one for sale (online or in a brick and mortar store). If you have room for a dual-slot card (low profile or not) there are way more options. There are plenty of 1050 and 1050 ti models in low profile, short, dual slot form.Good luck!

Would a low profile graphic card (GTX 1030) fit into a USFF computer (Dell OptiPlex 780) without any problems?

I would assume so. From experience and a rough estimate it would be a yes, also it's worth noting if you need more graphical horsepower, you can purchase an ultra low profile GTX 1050Ti. If a GTX 1060 LP can fit into an Xbox One S case, then a GT 1030 can fit into an Optiplex.

Will a high end graphics card fit in my small PC case?

With a small form factor (slim case), called SFF - no. While you can find many "low profile" video cards that will physically fit in a SFF case, your 235W power supply will not power any meaningful add-on video card. For sure, it will not power the 580 - the 580 needs a 500W power supply.

Even if you managed to rig up some power supply, the heat from such a video card will heat up the insides of that case in no time. Those cases are not designed for cooling add-on devices that generate extra heat.

Bottom line, those SFF cases are not meant to be upgraded in terms of Video, sorry...

Can you upgrade storage and ram on Dell OptiPlex 780 SFF?

Yes, there is a video here which shows you the process step by step.

What psu and gpu for dell optiplex 780?

Questions about the Dell Optiplex 780 get asked on a daily basis. Too many retailers selling refurbed 780 and people come out here asking about what they can upgrade.

The Core 2 CPU was great 8-10 years ago but now the Core i7 and Core i5 would run circles around it. Because the Core 2 line lacks Hyperthreading, those old Core 2 processors resemble the Core i5 for the quad core and they resemble the Celeron for the dual core. However the efficiency of a modern Core i5 and Celeron is off the charts when compared to the Core 2 processors.

Because of this, the best card you can get, that the Core 2 CPU won't bottleneck is the GTX 1050ti.

If your system has a 300w power supply then you need not worry about upgrading the power supply.

The minitower should be able to house a regular sized card. The SFF Optiplex 780 can only house a SFF card like the GT 1030.

If youre just going to play Minecraft, CS:GO, and watch videos, the GT 1030 is a good choice because it only uses 35w.
