Why did China get involved in North Korea during the Korean War?
You understand most of the conflict. Korea was divided by the Russian Communism and democratic US. The North Koreans invaded SK with the permission of the Russians. Then the UN got involved and shortly after the US. We pushed the NK forces back, and were doing incredibly well, but NK borders China. The Chinese who were communist did not like this at all. First off it made them very nervous that US forces were fighting and advancing so close to Chinese border. They were just as afraid of us as we were of them, which is why they attacked. Supporting the communist NK forces and pushed the US and UN forces far back across the 38th parallel. General Macarthur, hero of the Pacific War in WW2 wanted to use atomic weapons on the Chinese and start a major war on the Asian mainland. He was fired by Trueman for this. Most thought him crazy. So basically to answer your question. The Chinese attacked because of fear, and also to support the NK who were getting beat by democratic forces.
Did US bombed China before Korean War?
During WW2, China, mostly which were Japanese occupied, was bombed by the USAAF because Chinese forces and civilians were attacked by the wielding Japanese Army. As for Korea, our national experience in WWII, where we literally leveled entire cities in our drive to destroy the Nazi war machine, brought about a concern and a political hesitance to bomb with impunity in Korea. During WW2, we launched massive 1,000 bomber assaults on German and Japanese cities and industrial areas with massive civilian deaths. During the Korean War, our political controllers in Washington DC tried to execute careful, pin-point targeting, and attacks to avoid civilian loss of life and spill over into Communist China. The USAF fighter-bombers were restricted in regards to how far the could pursue their North Korean counterparts in aerial combat like not chasing the MiGs across the Chinese border and bombing missions were restricted to transport systems (highways, bridges and trains) as well as supply distribution centers within North Korea. However, this war had less restrictions when used against the Communists bases and infrastructure within North Korea in the 50s than the politicians allowed during the Vietnam War in the 60s and 70s. Chinese forces used many excuses to attack and drive back UN forces back to South Korea but the Chinese advance was halted due to relentless U.S. air attacks on their supplies lines, making it a stalemate. Up until 1953 when a ceasefire agreement was signed, making the way it was before the war. @No As for someone saying we should have bombed China during the war, what will it achieved? Bombing China after their intervention isn't going to work and wiping them out will result a direct Soviet intervention. You're an idiot and not understanding how Cold War politics work. You sound like an arrogant **** like Macarthur is. Doing so would ignite WW3 later on.
What if MacArthur dropped the atomic bomb on China during the Korean War?
The USA did not have quite enough nuclear devices to defeat all of the major opponents from back then, both in number and in yield. If the they use strategic nuclear strike on China and also want itto have a cripple effect on China war fighting industry, their nuclear stockpile would be more or less depleted. This mean that the Western Europe which is the more sugnificant region will be very vulnerable to a much larger forces in Germany. On the other hands, if nuclear attack was used exactly as MA envisioned (destroying China major industry, population center but more significantly, cutting off access to Korea Penisular from China mainland by turning the entire North Korea-China border into a concentrated irradiation zone), the UN will like won the Korea War desicively. China forces in Korea had already suffered a massive logistical problem as it was. If the land accesses to Korea wete cut off and the UN controlled the sea, they will be left stranded, encircled, and eventually captured or eliminated. The Soviet will likely use this oppotunity to build up their force in Europe though. And after a few months, the impact from the nuking of Chin will likely be feltin the form of large scale Soviet invasion of Europe. As the Soviet lack the capability to keep and hold their territories, even if the west failed to defend themselves against the invasion, these lands will likely be given back to them eventually. However, at the miminum, the American will be kicked out of the European alliance. At worst they will be brought directly under Soviet sphere of influence and serve to contain any further influence from both the British and the American in the new Eurpean order.
Did the USA really intend to invade China during the Korean War?
Absolutely not.Douglas MacArthur was a fool. He was convinced that he knew "Asians" and saw no difference between Koreans, Chinese and Japanese. He felt it was smart to go ahead and fight the Chinese while the US had troops in the area (Korea) and was convinced that US troops would chew up the Chinese forces--hah!But the US Government and particularly Harry Truman had no intention of invading China and were not eager to expand the war. The US didn't understand that the Chinese wanted a buffer between the Yalu river and western military forces--that it was unacceptable for US/UN forces to go all the way to the Yalu. And the lack of diplomatic exchange combined with MacArthur's arrogance and perceptual blindness meant that the hints that the Chinese dropped weren't seen. I know that the Chinese (partially to justify the presence of "volunteers") had argued that the US was intending to invade China. But that was never the case. The argument that MacArthur wanted to use an atomic bomb on the Chinese...after the Chinese entered the war and pushed US/UN troops back, MacArthur, attempting to save face, demanded to use an atomic bomb. Truman refused. This allowed MacArthur to argue that he was fighting the war with his hands tied behind his back and that politicians were meddling in the war, not letting the soldiers fight it. Truman's response? He fired MacArthur from command and responded that the war in Korea needed to remain "limited" (i.e.: not expand it to other countries): Truman relieves MacArthur of duties in Korea - Apr 11, 1951 - HISTORY.com And to quote Truman in his speech to the nation: "would be wrong—tragically wrong—for us to take the initiative in extending the war… Our aim is to avoid the spread of the conflict....I believe that we must try to limit the war to Korea for these vital reasons: To make sure that the precious lives of our fighting men are not wasted; to see that the security of our country and the free world is not needlessly jeopardized; and to prevent a third world war.” (And according to Truman, General MacArthur had been fired) “so that there would be no doubt or confusion as to the real purpose and aim of our policy.” So be absolutely, perfectly clear: the US had no intention at any point of invading China, of using an atomic bomb on China or invading China.
Why does China refer to the Korean War as "America's War of Aggression" when they were clearly the aggressors?
Because they can . All they tell there people is what they want them to hear . They tell them lies and the people don't know any better . Some one give a link to say that China was not a aggressor in the war . That the U.N. cross the Chinese border so China when to war . The link said that China wanted to go to war a long time before the U.N. got close to China . So the U.N. on the border with China did not start the war with China , there leader did . When he saw that he could not take Taiwan he when to the border with Korea to fight with the US and the U.N. Read more write lest. And about the name that you give it , that would not look good to the ccp . So no that is not a good name ask them they will tell you so . How could they be the aggressor when they say that the UN cross the border and a hour later they attack the UN force 60 miles from the border with a million man force . That happen to be in North Korea . But they don't tell there people that it happen that way . North or South Korea was not good in that war , China was not much better . The Korean people lost the most in that war , as most wars the people are the big loser . Maybe some one will tell North Korea that the war is over (like China). I understand China wanting to help North Korea , North Korea help China when it needed help the most . Help them now . Tell them the war is over and help them feed there people. North Korea could do good if they could get that family out . And put in a government that was for the people . Not the family .
How and why did China get involved in the Korean War?
At the beginning of the war, the North chased the South almost to the tip of the peninsula. Once the US got involved, we chased the North back. So far back, in fact, that we were at the Yalu River which made China very nervous. We also had many in the US calling for the US armed forces to continue into China. This is one fo the reasons MacArthur got fired by Truman. The Chinese intervened with massive troop incursions and drove us back across the old border between North and South. Korea has always had a testy relationship with China for ancient reasons. The Soviet Union actually shares a small section of the border with North Korean.
U.S, South Korea, Japan vs China, North Korea, Iran war?
If North Korea attacks South Korea, and tries to invade them and SK has military ties to Japan and the U.S. so if they join in and aid South Korea, and Iran has ties to North Korea so if Iran joins in on NK's side and China has long been a North Korean ally so if China for some reason joins in Iran and North Korea's side and if Russia gives NK, Iran and China weapons who'd win?
