Do color contacts damage your eyes?
Its really depending on the circumstances..... Decorative color contact lenses that are sold at a gas station, convenience store, flea market etc... that are sold without requiring a prescription can cause serious damage to your eyes. Because of this risk all contact lenses are regulated by the FDA, so the only way to legally obtain any contact lenses is to get them fit by a qualified professional. The way contact lenses fit is very important and if they do not fit properly they can cause serious harm to your eyes. Funny, I've worn contacts for about 15 years and never heard that one. I've read all the precautions and have never had a problem. Stain your eyes??? Do you think the FDA would approve a product that caused staining or at the very least require a giant warning label? Believe your Doctor, not rumors.

Hi,When I was young a friend of mine got shot in the eye with a pellet gun while rabbiting and he lost his eye in the accident, thus, he had a false eye.In fact he had two false eyes. A winter eye and a summer eye.Apparently our eye colour darkens in the winter due to less sun light. We don't notice it because both of our eyes change colour at the same time, however, with my one-eyed friend only his real eye changed colour and it was very noticeable .Yes your eye colour has changed because your contacts are diluting the amount of sunlight meeting your iris.Hope this helped.

Can I still wear color contacts if my eyes are too "flat"?
There are other colored contacts but I don't know what the brands are. FYI: Wearing colored contacts is nice but I found out the hard way that they don't let enough oxygen into your eyes. Which of course can damage your eyes. I didn't know that and wore Freshlooks for quite a few years. Needless to say I do have some damage to my eyes. To be more specific I have extra growth of capillaries in my eyes because they tried to bring more oxygen to my eyes. So my eyes have extra little red veins in them. Fortunately when I quit wearing the freshlooks that growth ceased and now I wear Acuvue Oasis, designed to let more oxygen into the eye. Just a little heads up so you know what you are getting into. The doctor that wrote my initial prescription didn't even tell me this was a possible problem.
