Hmmm, yes and no. If you're referring to the 2008 financial crisis, the US Secretary of Treasury, Henry Paulson, and the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, were facing a greater problem than some theory within the political parties. The huge problem of moral hazard versus systemic risk had come into play in full force. After Bear Stearns and Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae, there was a huge sense of disbelief that all of these companies were becoming insolvent at an incredible rate due to all of these toxic assets in the subprime mortgages. When Bear Stearns merged, their stocks sold for a $4. Paulson had been a banker and had the concept of small government or no government and his ethics as a banker definitely came through during this crisis. He didn't feel that banks should have gotten a bailout and he didn't make it easy. Bear Stearns lost a ridiculous amount of money. When Lehman Brothers started to fail, Paulson chose not to bail them out. He thought that moral hazard was more of a problem than systemic risk. Once Lehman Brothers filed bankruptcy though, the market froze. Nobody was lending money and thus nobody was able to profit. Additionally, all of the big banks were swamped with these toxic assets in the housing market. Globally, the market started to collapse. Yes, letting Lehman Brothers fail sent out a message - they certainly thought they were going to get a bailout - but it also resulted in systemic risk. Regardless of what Paulson wanted or thought, he had no choice but to bail out the banks. We live in a globalized world and unfortunately if big banks fail in one country, it causes problems in other countries, as well. There was nothing to be done but to bail them out. I don't think anyone supported the bailout, but when the fate of the international market is on your hands, what are you going to do? Let the entire world markets fail just because your country's banks don't have business ethics? Seems a bit selfish.

In fact, I do not know enough about Indian society to make an adequate or accurate comparison. I suspect however that one of the main differences is that the hypocrisies in American society I'm not only different but Nothing visible especially to those who are not natives of this country.The historical United States is now myth. While no caste system exists in the US, a class struggle does and has always existed in this country and is now creating greatest degree of economic division since the 1920s. The degree to which money is controlling our political process has made much of the law that is enacted the product of something (now) very much like a corporate entity. Presidents preceding the current administration initiated armed conflicts without what has historically been considered adequate provocation, (historically an attack). The legality of torture has been discussed in this country in last decade, something previously unthinkable as an overt act in American political life. While such things have always taken place, the fact that they are no longer considered unacceptable and can be publicly discussed is frightening to those of us who understand the magnitude of change in our leadership that is implied by theese acts. Several stockmarket fiascoes and bank collapses upon investigation have turned out to be out right robberies initiated by fraud and from which the perpetrators escaped with minimal fines in comparison to the amount stolen and little if any other penalty. In view of the huge discrepancy between that which is portrayed publicly, and that which is actually true, I would be hard-pressed to claim superiority in this country. The conflicts in this country between those who stand to benefit and primary motivation is monetary and those whose needs are ignored and was primary goals involve freedom the joys of daily life the preservation of our ecological health, and faith in our country as a world force for positive change our escalating rapidly. Hopefully this clarifies my position, my answer is no.

I have found the opposite to be true. Most republicans I know have a far more tolerant view than the Democrats. You can see that in conversations between the two. Most of them I've witnessed or been part of end with the Democrat throwing insults and ending the conversation because their level iof understanding the arguments being made by the other side have gone being their ability to dig further.The republicans I talk to have some hard stances on what constitutes ethical behavior, but they will take rather deep dives into the nature of LGBT issues and religious freedom if you have an opening conversation with them - for instance, why both sides of the “gay cake Baker” court case have meetings with talking about, etc… I can talk with most of them for hours about a subject, but it's certainly less of an angry pointing of fingers than when a Democrat is part of the discussion.If you want to talk about sense of humor, they're generally far less scared and angry than the Democrats. They're not afraid to speak their mind little more fully, and they certainly aren't going to laugh at things which are deadly serious…but they laugh all the damn time at government and Democrats and socialists, etcWhat are you referring to that makes you think Republicans have no sense of humor?
