Will Ford Save Detroit Or Is It Too Far Gone

Is the Fillmore Detroit Theater in a safe part of the city?

I've been to The Fillmore (formerly The State Theatre) countless times, I've even gone alone to shows and driven down alone to meet people there (I'm white and female). You will be absolutely fine going to a concert there. That being said, I guess I have to make the obligatory statement that your safety is also dependent on your common sense. Don't go driving around in any neighborhoods you're unfamilliar with and don't act like an obnoxious jerk and you will be left alone.

That area will have quite a few people around, especially if there's baseball, football, a show at the fox theatre, etc. Hockeytown Cafe is right there on the corner and there are quite a few bars a block back. There is a parking garage right around the corner on Montcalm that I have never had a problem with. I've never had a problem with any of the surface lots in the area either though. It's a great place. Go, have fun.

Will my car start if the engine is seized?

As someone that has seized a few engines, I will say: that depends on the cause of the seizure, and how bad it is.Generally speaking, when people say an engine is seized, it is because the engine is locked up and will not turn. But most seizures are temporary, although the damage is permanent. Often times if overheating is the cause of the seizure, when it cools it will start. Usually this results in damaged bearings and possibly damaged pistons, rings, or cylinder walls (or all the above). When it's caused by lack of lubrication, that is somewhat permanent. But sometimes adding oil can get it to start after turning it over a bit. Still, bad damage has already happened. And if either condition has caused it to throw a rod, break a crankshaft, or spin a bearing it probably will not start.Regardless, in any of these situations there is a really good chance the engine is toast.

Which of these two is the best? Ford Escape vs. Honda CR-V?

I will soon be in the market for a small SUV. I have compared these two over and over.

How reliable is a Ford Escape?
Will I enjoy driving a CR-V for seven years?

Which do you prefer and why?

How do you temporarily fix a blown head gasket?

There are chemical sealants on the market and the manufatucturers claim that they can fix a blown head gasket. They might work for a few miles - BUT: The reason, why your engine cylinder head gasket blew off was probably not he gasket itself, but there is something wrong inside your engine. So, if your car has more than 200k miles on the Odo, check out the chemical. If it finishes-off your engine, you can take it like a man. Otherwise: stop running the engine, stop driving the car, if you have a more valuable automobile. Take it to a qualified repair shop or official dealer and let them unmount the cylinder head. They will quickly find out what happened (coolant, oil, mechanical failure). In addition, your cylinder head might have cracks (that you see by applying a detection fluid if you do not detecct a crack with your eyes), anything on the valve train might be wrong. In 90% of the cases your cylinder head will be twisted/spoilt and will not be not tight if you just change the gasket. The only advantage of a blown cylinder head gasket is, that you got it easy at the gas statition. You can pour gas, coolant and oil all in to the gas tank, it will get mixed up in your engine anyways :-). And you leave a trail of different smoke colors on the highway - always a good way to find new friends. If I participate in repairing a cylinder head, I always do the connecting rod bearings at the same time. They will go belly-up in the near future, if you have reestablished full compression on your cylinder head(s)
