Will Gabapentin Side Effects Eventually Subside

Is stuttering a side effect of Gabapentin? Why does it happen?

It appears that Gabapentin can cause stuttering, but it is not a common side effect:Can Gabapentin cause Stuttering? My guess is that with stuttering there is a timing issue neurophysiologically. This medication may interfere with the timing component of speech.

Is gabapentin addictive? How long till you feel the effects after swallowing?

Yes it can be..and if taken daily you will become dependant on it. Never just stop taking since it's an anti convulsunt and can cause seizures. I'm taking for an off label use as a mood stabalizer/anxiety. I have been on for nine monthes, and have felt every decrease. I'm a recovering/ex drug addict..whatever you want to call it. I have been sober for a few years and i definitley felt a high at first prescribed dose. Therefore i started abusing it and i am where i am at now (yet again) regardless what someone is taking for you DO become dependant and the withdrawls are worse then a lot of doctocrs seem to inform. I asked my doctor if this has potential for abuse..he laughed and said least i have to worry about. (he knows my history) All that said, i do think it can be a good medication depending what's used for.. long term nerve damage, opiate withdrawl..(i would recommend using SHORT time span for this) for whatever reason going on just realize it's not a cake walk getting off. The second part of your question, for me it takes about an hour or so to feel effects.

Is Neurontin (Gabapentin) an addictive medication?

Although gabapentin is not a controlled substance, it does produce psychoactive effects that cause it to have potential for recreational use. Even in low doses, gabapentin causes sensations of reduced acute pain, reduced anxiety and even a tendency to become overly social and talkative. Larger doses can cause the user to become numb and even fully insensate. Although it is widely regarded as having little or no potential for misuse, it is often a misused drug in Canadian Northern communities and among inmates in California State prisons. However, Pregabalin, a subsequent Pfizer spin-off, is a controlled substance under Schedule V of the United States' Controlled Substances Act.

Anything that has the potential for abuse, has the potential for addiction.

Why is my gabapentin NOT working?

I was put on Gabapentin about two weeks ago, for pain and anxiety. I went from 300mg 1 in the morning one in the afternoon and two at night. I am the kinda person with NO patience lol. the 300 mg was ok but I took something like ten of them, felt kinda buzzed and pain was no longer there but it started to not be so affective so I was put on 600mg same directions as before. Today I was in ALOT of pain and took 10 600 mg. Feeling NOTHING. whats going on? At first I felt a Little euphoric which is the feeling I am going after. Any suggestions would help. Thank you!

Is it common to have insomnia and nausea as side effects of bupropion? If so, how long does it take for these side effects to wear off?

Hello Questioner. The answer to your question is yes to both of these side effects. Bupropion can cause nausea, insomnia/restlessness, anxiety, dry mouth, tremors and some others. It usually takes a few weeks for these effects to calm down and go away. If they don’t, tell the prescriber. The dose may have to be lowered to allow your body to get used to the med more gradually. Or you may need to try a different med.It can take a while to find the correct med in the correct dose for any given person. Hang in there. I know it’s hard to be patient under certain circumstances. But you’ll eventually find the best med and dose for you. Feel better soon.

When did side effects from fluoxetine begin for you?

A nasty acid reflux stared immediately — but was easily dealt with by taking the tablet with food … so I continued with it, no other obvious unwanted effects.

Has anyone experienced extreme sedation from taking gabapentin? I'm barely able to hold my head up. If so, how long did it last?

Yes.I have a friend who was taking it and she experienced very adverse side effects,…Once she stopped taking it, her side effects went away in 2 to 3 months.Based on what my friend experienced, I recommend you to ween yourself off of it with the knowledge of the person who prescribed it to you. Just dont stop taking it without the knowledge of your doctor or mental health professional.Eventually stop taking it and perhaps see a homeopathic doctor for suggestions on how to get relief from your pain.Because I do this type of work and I performed this type of work on my friend using this method that worked for her; I recommend you to get energy shifting/ healing work from a Stone and Crystal Healer or Reiki master; a series of 6 sessions over 8 -10weeks, of 10 - 30 minute sessions and do a homeopathic detox to help flush that medication out of your system. Tumeric with Curcumin and Piperine is a way to do a detox to your liver also. That drug, gabapentin, can destroy the balance of Sodium and Potassium in your body as well as mess with your thyroid functioning properly and possibly cause severe cognitive ability repression, among a very long list of other possible severe side effects.Anyone with Lupus and/or Addisons disease should NEVER take this drug because it could be deadly for someone with Addisons disease, because of the balance of Sodium and Potassium that is adversely affected by using this drug.
