Will Getting My Dog A Companion Calm Her Down When She Sees Other Dogs

Will mating my dog calm him down?

Not at all, it'll actually make it worse. I'm a vet tech and nothing upsets me more then when owners don't do what's best for their pets!

If you don't get your dog neutered, there are serious illnesses he can come up with in the future that are very expensive. They can get blocked to the point where they can't urinate. They develop bladder stones, which includes surgery. They can get prostate cancer, which will eventually kill him. Just on average, a blocked dog costs $1,200. It includes surgery. To remove bladder stones because of how sensitive their internal organs are, you're looking at an average of $1,500-$2,500. And as you know, prostate cancer will eventually kill your dog.

Will my English Bulldog calm down after getting fixed?

Castration only prevents him from reproducing and will NOT stop this dog aggressive behavior at all. It's in his GENES.

If i get my siberian husky spayed will it calm her down?

Hey my 1 and a half year old husky Haven is acting very odd. We recently just moved into our apartment. We all used to live at my bfs house with 2 others dogs. She never really showed any forms of aggression or territorial problems but since we've moved in to the apartment when other dogs comes she is very territorial and dominant. I dont like this behavior and dont know what to do about it. I mean my roommate is supposed to be moving in in a few weeks with her 8 month old Golden retriever. I dont want there to be a fight everyday or to keep them separated. I hate this. Haven has always been so friendly and very social with other dogs. She is weird though at the dog park she is very submissive but when it comes to dogs she knows and see everyday she is very quick to dominate or to try to dominate. I love her to death but this behavior has got to stop. Like yesterday my friend brought her 6 month old puppy to our place and Haven is chasing the puppy barking and frantically barking and chasing this poor puppy Haven doesnt allow the puppy to wander the apartment. What can i do?! I dont want to have this kind of dog. Could it possibly help to get her spayed?

Is pinning a dog down for submission a wise idea? Even if the dog knows you?

I do not believe in pinning as an effective training method for the following reasons:
1) You don't see alpha dogs physically and violently pinning the others in the pack. You DO however see the submissive dogs voluntarily rolling over and allowing the alpha to sniff, etc.
2) It's dangerous and can result in scratches & bites on you, and physical harm to the dog
3) If the dog doesn't understand what's happening or it's held in the position for too long, timing is off, etc. it will become confused and the whole point (to teach submission) is thrown out the window because the dog has a disconnect between the action (being pinned) and the act (the bad behavior that caused the pin)

My pup submits to me voluntarily. If he grabs a shoe or jumps up on a guest, I give him a firm "NO" and stand up, he responds by laying flat on the ground. I don't think submission should be forced, I think it should be earned by effectively training your dog.

That's my two cents.

100 pts- I need to calm down my border collie, please help.?

In spring of 2008 we got an 8 month old border collie mix, and she became my absolute best friend. Shortly after, she developed a barking problem and has become very hyper. We've tried everything to calm her: shocking bark collar, doggie downer, herbal collar, extra exercise, it all doesn't work. I even got my 10k mile time under 6 minutes with her! Shes now 4 and my parents have now said they are going to give her away to a farm after senior year when I go to college, which is in 3 years. I cannot possibly have this dog given away, as my spirits were recently crushed when I heard this. I need some advice to calm this dog down and settle the barking. As you can see I'm desperate. Words can't describe how grateful I'd be for a great answer. All i ask is some advice from someone with some good ideas and experience.

Why does my dog lick my face when I punish him?

That the way to show he is sorry & he love you, so you won't punish him anymore..he know he is wrong..but what done is done... so he lick you first, for forgiveness.
My dog lick my face always, whenever i hold him up or he do something wrong, that the only way it show you he love you, they can't talk...so that the only way they can show..

This is my thinking...so what yours?

Hi, your add detail (saying bad boy or stop it) that is right..
Just say that to your dog will do, don't punish him(some people) punish their dog, in the end it won't solve the problem and worst is when you want to call him to come, he will be afraid, and won't come near you anymore.

keep up this good thing.
