Will I Be Able To Receive Financial Aid

Will i still be able to receive financial aid?

So I lost my financial aid at my last college due to low gpa and dropping a class. I've tried to get a loan but i have no co-signer. Anyway, if i transfer to another college will i be able to receive financial aid?

Am I still able to receive financial aid?

I've already been accepted for financial aid, but couple days ago I got arrested for internal pos. alcohol and resisting arrest..( for running before being arrested). Will I still be eligible for financial aid?

Under FAFSA, would I be able to receive financial aid for back-to-back graduate degrees?

I am not familiar with the term ‘back to back’ graduate degree. I’m not sure that is a term at all. I do know that the only federal funding for graduate degrees is a loan. The only other funding you will likely get is an offer from your university. You could get a TA-ship, a GA-ship, an RA-ship or a fellowship. You can possibly get an outside fellowship.

Will I be able to receive financial aid by doing a masters with thesis in BME? If not, how can I and how much? Is it really rare?

Well financial aid is a term that includes loans, grants, scholarships, and fellowships.  Generally a graduate student is ineligible for Federal grants such as the Pell Grant. However, you can receive Federal Loans up to 20,500 per year (Stafford Loan for Graduate Students).  You may qualify for fellowships or scholarships but they will require more leg work to find.  Ask the BME department at the school you plan to attend what is available.  You can also check out this page to see if you qualify for any of these engineering scholarships: Science and Engineering Scholarships and Fellowships Blog.

Can I still get Financial Aid at another college?

I'm not transferring those grades I'm starting fresh at a new community college

Since it says this part As a result, in accordance with regulations, you are no longer eligible to receive financial aid at Oakland Community College effective Fall 2011.

I'm just wondering can I go to another community college and get financial aid?

I have 2 warrants can i still receive financial aid?

i have a disorderly conduct and an assault warrants neither are in the county im applying for school in will i still be able to receive financial aid? I have not yet applied for any type of aid, i wanted to know before i did if these warrants would effect any type of aid i would get.

Can I receive financial aid and a scholarship?

A scholarship would really only affect your aid package if you receive so much in scholarship that it, combined with your aid, exceeds what it would cost to go to school.

Usually the aid office can adjust your aid package to make it work - as someone said, better to have scholarship than student loans. If you had a loan but then got a scholarship, you can use the scholarship to reduce the loan.

But again, this would only come into play if you are in danger of receiving more aid than your cost of education.

Example A:

Cost of Education 20,000 (tution, fees, books, room, board)

Federal grants: 5,000
Loans: 5,000

If you get another scholarship, say for 5,000, you still are ok. Your other aid is not affected.

Example B
Cost of Education 10,000 (tution, fees, books, room, board)

Federal grants: 5,000
Loans: 5,000
Scholarship: 2,000

I changed things around, but in this example the student now has more "aid" (over by 2,000) than they are eligible for. So I would simply take 2,000 off the loan amount.

Revised Example B:
Federal grants: 5,000
Loans: 3,000
Scholarship: 2,000

I hope that was clear. Just remember scholarships and grants are always better than loans because they are free money. Your aid office should be able to work with you to maximize the amount of aid that is applied to your education.

Congrats on the scholarship!

Financial Aid ???'s?

Contact the financial aid office at Coconino IMMEDIATELY. Also, contact the registrar's office. Make sure that the person you are talking to is a regular employee (not a student) and get that person's name--full name.

At the community college where I work, a student would need to withdraw from the university before the second week to receive a 100% refund. If they do not withdraw, they owe the full tuition.

If they are awarded financial aid, but do not need it for a semester, they can use it in the next semester. Generally, the amount you are eligible for is pro-rated for the semester.

Try to get the information you are looking for in writing. I would hate to see you lose your financial aid eligibility due to someone giving you mis-information.

Do you receive financial aid if you are a part time student?

Financial aid is available to part-time college students, but since the amount of aid is tied to your "Cost of Education", students who are taking less than a full load will qualify for less assistance.

You must be registered as at least a 1/2 time student (generally 6 or more credit hours) to qualify for a Stafford loan, but students taking as few as 3 hours are eligible to receive a Pell Grant (if they otherwise qualify). Again, the Pell award for a part-time student would represent only a partial percentage of the award that would be provided for a full-time student.

As for your question about income - your financial aid eligibility is based on your financial aid need. The Department of Education takes the student's income into consideration when evaluating that need. When you complete the FAFSA application, there are questions that ask about your income and assets, and the amount that you report is a component of the EFC formula.

HOWEVER - if you are working a part-time job and making a couple of hundred dollars a month, this kind of small income is not going to have a significant effect on your eligibility to receive financial aid. Financial aid eligibility can be impaired when a student works a full-time job and makes a significant income.

I hope that helped you - good luck!

Would it be possible for medical students to receive financial aid as undergraduates do?

Almost all aid for medical students is in the form of loans. Medical schools don’t give many scholarships (they don’t need to). Banks figure that med students are pretty good loan risks, and some loans are guaranteed by the federal government. They will be more than happy to loan you enough money to pay tuition and living expenses while you are in school.
