Tone my body or lose weight?

Typically you should lose weight then tone up, but there is certain cardio exercise (designed to get your heart rate going = burn fat = lose weight) that ALSO work muscles so you can tone up a bit at the same time. Examples would be like elliptical, that's cardio & works your quads, hamstrings and gluttes. Or jump roping is cardio but also works out calf muscles & a little abdominal. You could do "stadiums" like at the bleachers at a local high school's football field, that works out your lower body muscles again, while still doing cardio. Get creative! I played volleyball forever and our coach was a health freak, so our workouts incorporated cardio and resistance training and weights. We did a lot of circuit type of work outs w/ a lot of repititions, which alternated between cardio exercises and some type of muscle exercise. I would suggest trying to lose weight before any major toning up because your toning up results won't shine enough if you need to lose weight first. Good luck!

Lose weight before i tone my body?

well u should do toning weight lifting excerises 3 times a week...than 3-5 times a week do cardio...

for cardio run, swim or jog or whatever kind of cardio u do...do it hard and fast...u lose calories when u heart rate is up...

for example if u run for 20 minutes...or walk for an hr...running for 20 minutes will help u lose more weight...or calories...

weight lifting for toning purposes helps with weight loss...it burns that area that u are working out...

for example if u are doing a squat it will burn calories in the leg area(quads, hamsrtrings, and glutes)...

for toning do an excerise for each muscle...do that excerise 20-22 reps...and do 2 sets...

Shoulders-shoulder press
biceps-hammer curls
triceps-dips
chest-cable crossover or bench press
abs-crunches
legs-squat, lunges, calf raises
upper back-pullups
lower back-back extensions

make sure u eat well or this will be for NOTHING...

cut down on sugar,salt...

no fast food, no fried foods, no soda, alcohol...

drink lots of water...eat vegetables, take ur vitamins...

How can you tone up but NOT lose weight?

My thighs have some fat on them, but i think theyre toned underneath.
When i do squats i can see the muscles.
i'm at a healthy weight now (130 pounds, 5'8.5) according to bmi charts.
I don't want to lose weight. I just want to tone my thighs.
The rest of me is well toned, but my thighs are where all my fat goes :/

How can i tone my body WITHOUT losing weight?

pilates would work. wiki them and see what they are. also when you exercise you will gain lean muscle as you burn off fat, hence giving you that "tone" you want. Muscles weighs more then fat, so you will be fine. Just do not run too much and as you gain lean muscle exercising and doing stuff like pilates and yoga, you can achieve the body you want.

Is toning your body the same as losing weight?

Toning is the same as loosing fat. Losing fat is not the same as losing weight (weight accounts for fat, muscle, water retention etc.)

Toning is essentially the process of losing bodyfat while eating and lifting to maintain your muscles (you can't lose fat and grow your muscles at the same time) to increase their visibility, giving you that more 'cut' appearance.

U shud go to qualified trainer. U will loose ur body fat if u involve in aerobic exercise and high intensity gym activities. Now... breast and bums hv fat if loose that fat u will loose ur figure.
