Will I Make The Volleyball Team Or Advice

How to make Varsity Volleyball team?

Well I'm glad as a freshman you want to go out for varsity!! Though I'm a junior and I'm going to be on Varsity this year for my first time. I've been doing volleyball since 5th grade, made freshman team my freshman year, JV my sophomore year. I hate to tell you this, unless you're like AMAZINGLY good, there are very very small chances of a freshman making varsity, even for sophomores. You'll probably have good advantages since you're very tall and consider yourself athletic, and you're schools so small. Good Luck though!!
High School Volleyballs fun you'll love it!

I didnt make my volleyball team im so sad????:,(?

Im so sorry! I feel so bad for you. Don't just feel bad for yourself though. Practice up as much as you can that way you can make the team next year. If you try your hardest and you are determined there is nothing stopping you from improving. Even though you didn't make the team you shouldn't give up on the sport. Some of the best athletes could have been in your position when they were your age but that didn't stop any of them! I recommend that over the winter and after the school season that you try out for a club team to improve your skills and show the coaches that you are a great player. Don't give up! If you practice hard then you will get better.

I hope I helped!

Volleyball Tryouts Advice...?

Arrive on time, first of all and come prepared. Make sure you have everything that you will need packed tonight so that you have time to grab anything you may have forgotten. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and pack plenty of water to stay hydrated.

When you walk in, if you don't know someone or a coach, introduce yourself. Don't walk in with an attitude that makes you look haughty and snotty. Be complementary and support the others girls that are trying out. If someone makes an awesome dig, congratulate them!

Call the ball, call the ball, CALL THE BALL!!! This shows the coaches that you are aggressive and understand how important communication is on the court. Don't complain or whine if the coach assigns you a hard drill. Have fun and be positive.

Good luck!

What advice can you give me on playing volleyball?

You should be confident. If you tell yourself that you will pass the ball, and you will do whatever it takes to keep it in play, you will. Remember to keep good form in serving, passing, setting, and hitting, as these are the key elements to volleyball. Be competitive. Not to the point of being cocky or mean, but you want a spot on that team, so be assertive. When there is an empty place in a drill, jump in. Let the coach use you for a demonstration. As for being nervous in front of people, I used to get that too. You just need to focus on the sport. Most importantly, have fun and make friends. Volleyball is just a game, not a life or death scenario. Good luck and I hope you make the team :)

Advice for a first time volleyball coach?

Well I'm not going to tell you what drills to run or anything because it's your team and that's your decision.

I have been an assistant coach at the middle school level and the biggest thing is making the kids love the sport. If they don't love it they won't come back. Yes, you want them to succeed now, but if they love the game they will also succeed later on. I would suggest finding ways to make practice fun, which is what they like, while also getting what you want, which is them improving.

Also, since it is your team, not just for a few days at a camp, get to know the kids. If you have a good relationship with them they will want to play for you and will get that much better at volleyball at the same time.

Just my advice, hope it helps you and you have a great season!

How to Make Freshman Volleyball Team?

Ok dont so much work on your muscle, work on your technice (i spelled that wrong). working on your over hand serve is going to be a big thing that you need to learn.

Also work on strengthening your leg muscles more than your arm muscles. your Height is going to give you an advantage as well. When playing highschool volleyball if your school is anything like mine you have to show that you are comitted.

Another tip coaches like a player who is going to be incouraging!! if you are the type of person who gets an attitude when you do somthing wrong or blames everything on your team members work on that because one persons attitude can change how the game is going to end.

work on the fundimentals of the game breakdown everything. your footwork. your hand movements. your placement also. and lastly dont be afraid to talk on the court. coaches like player that say. hey you got that. good job ladys. we got this. good serve. i got it. mine. you got it. cross court. over. out. in. ect... AND JUST HAVE FUN WITH THE GAME!!!!

Advice on whether or not I should quit volleyball?

So I'm going into my sophomore year of high school this year, and I've been playing volleyball for a year now. I feel like I'm the worst player on the team, and even though I've improved a lot I feel like everyone around me is still better bc they've been playing longer. I dread going to practices and tryouts are in two days for highs cool volleyball and I'm debating whether or not I should do it. I like volleyball but I feel like I would be happier if I focused on other things like a job and school. My parents support my decision but I still feel like I'm letting them and everyone else down. My coaches told me I've improved a lot, but I just don't feel like my heart is in it. What do I do?!

I am a beginner in volleyball. What advice can you give to help me improve my game?

As a beginner, you should focus on three out of six main techniques, serve receive(passing your opponents serve), spiking, and serving. Of all the volleyball techniques, we can break it down to three main components, eye sequence (Watching the ball, tracking the ball with your eyes), footwork(smart feet can give you range whether if you are attacking the ball or playing defense), and hands, (What you do with your hands are important, and your hands are probably the smartest part of the body because most of us use our hands to do daily stuff). Technically, you want to train the three components separately. Learn to activate your  eyes and really focus on the ball. Then train the appropriate footwork associated with each individual technique, like shuffle steps for serve receive, approaches for hitting, etc. Then train the appropriate handwork like platform for serve receive and arm swings for spiking. Then you want to combine all three because you want to be as fluid and graceful as possible when executing each technique, this will allow you to have better control and more efficient movement on the courts. The reason to focus on those specific four techniques are:You can play a decent game and be a decent player once those fundamentals are solid.  At first, you don't need to worry about blocking and setting too much because those techniques are the hardest to learn to beginners, once you get the idea of receiving the ball to the setter, and hitting your setters ball, you will develop your spatial awareness and a better understanding of the game, and then you can start to learn setting or blocking. As for digging or playing defense, that comes with loads and loads of repetition because the speed of the ball is coming at you so fast that you really do not have time to think about it.

How to make varsity in volleyball? Advice welcomed! :)?

I'm going to be a senior in HS next year. I've regretted not playing sports and just focusing all my time on theater since freshman year. During summer break I really don't want to stay at home watching insane amounts of tv becoming even more overweight. I know intramurals for the school team are May-August. The catch is, since I'd be a senior I HAVE to make varsity. Outside of playing with a few friends in between theater rehearsals I have no experience.

Even if I don't make the team, I'd like to at least try to because either I'm looking in the wrong places or there's not much for my age group in my area.

What are some tips to make varsity as a first time player? THANK YOU!!

Varsity volleyball tryouts advice for DS/Libero?

I have volleyball tryouts next week and I am an incoming junior at a new school that I just moved to from across town. I actually used to play for one of my new school's rivals but my parents moved therefore I have to switch schools. I have been going to summer open gyms and the coach seems to really like me.I will be one of 3 or 4 juniors who are all backrow. There are 2 returning senior backrow players as well and the varsity coach said that there are only 4 spots on varsity for DS's. I have one more open gym and two days of tryouts next week. I have had a private lesson and a 6 hour defense camp at a local university the past two weeks along with working out atleast 3 or 4 days a week every week (except 1 week for vacation) that focused mainly on strength, agility, and footwork for the majority of the summer. Is there anything I can do within these final preparation days that would prepare me so that I would stand out as a DS for a varsity spot? If any coaches are reading this, what makes a DS stand out or shows potential for varsity? What do you like to see from DS's regarding skill and attitude? Any other tips? Thank you.
