Will I Still Get Into A Good College If I Never Took Any Ap Courses In Highschool

Is it bad if i dont take any AP courses in high school?

Hmmm it's pretty bad... Most people take AP courses to boost their GPA's or to learn more on subjects of interest. If you can get a straight 4.0, it won't be too bad, but it would still be a lot better if you take an AP (and get an A in the class). Good luck! Oh, and definitely take AP chem (or at least bio, but chem is a bit more in depth in pharmacological matters) if you want to "major in pharmacy;" most good college accept only people who take AP courses in similar subjects, for there are going to be a LOT of people enrolling. I'm planning on taking 4 AP's, a Honors, and another class next year (junior year):P and my school's hella hard.... I'll have no sleep time :O gahh.. Just saying.

What if I didn't take any AP course, would any good college accept me?

One of my former clients/students attended a high school that didn’t offer any APs and she got into Cal Berkeley. In this case, the school not offering APs worked to her advantage because she couldn’t be held accountable for not taking them. However, if your school offers them and you opt out, the most competitive colleges will probably overlook you because you’ve demonstrated yourself on paper as a person who doesn’t push themselves or perhaps isn’t capable of taking the most rigorous classes, which is what they want from their candidates. This means that you’re probably not academically prepared to attend the top colleges anyway, because you haven’t had the level of instruction that is necessary to be successful as a freshman in their program. But those are just the “top tier” schools, which is often what people mean when they say “good school.” There are many, many colleges that are actually good, though they’re not the most famous ones, and some of those will probably still consider you.Be sure to focus on the colleges that are going to be RIGHT FOR YOU and not just on the ones you’ve already heard of or where other people say you should be going, etc.

What if i never took any honor classes in High School?

at my school, there are so many students who take honors and AP classes with a higher than 3.5 GPA, so there would be some competition. i would reccommend taking some advanced classes and keeping your GPA or staying in regular classes and raise your GPA. and honestly, the more advanced classes are not that hard, just a little more homework, and deeper discussions.

but, as you are, i bet you could still get into a good college or university.

If i don't take all honors and ap classes in high school am i screwed for college?

What colleges should I am for if I am planning on taking just Honors English and Honors Global but CP everything else along with Latin 1 and Symphonic Band/Marching Band for my freshmen year. I AM SO STRESSED OUT RIGHT NOW, I want to get into berkley or ucla or uci. Anyone know what I should do

I have not taken any AP classes, can I still get into a good college like UW?

A.P.'s are meant to give high school students that opportunity to take college-level courses.  Community college courses already are college courses.  Dual enrollment is a great idea!  UW may not transfer all credits, if you are taking courses out of Washington, but the courses will look great on your transcript.  Make sure a transcript is sent!  (I forget if they are take the Common App, or not). A letter of recommendation from a teacher would also be valuable.UW is a excellent school and competitive for admission, so SAT/ACT scores, grades, extracurriculars, community service, etc. also matter.

I have a 4.0 but don't take honors classes, what kind of colleges will accept me?

A2A: The most important question is whether honors classes are available to you. If your school does not offer honors classes, then you are in the clear. Colleges don’t expect you to take honors or AP classes that are not available at your school. If your school does offer honors classes, and you are not taking them, then you are doing yourself a great disservice. The number one thing colleges want to see on a transcript is academic rigor. Rigor = taking the hardest classes you can do well in. If you’ve never taken a difficult class in high school, what are you going to do when you get to the very difficult classes in college? Now, just because you have not taken honors classes, that doesn’t mean you won’t find a college to accept you. According to the College Board’s database of all colleges,[1] there are more than 2,000 colleges that accept 75% or more of their applicants. Most of these are junior colleges, community colleges and smaller public or liberal arts colleges, but not all of them. Arizona State, for example, accepts 83% of the students who apply, although “applicants must meet at least one of the following: Top 25% in high school graduating class, 3.0 GPA in competency courses (4.00 = "A"), ACT 22 (24 nonresidents), SAT Reasoning 1040 (1110 nonresidents).” (italics mine) For them class rank and GPA are more important than rigor.I encourage you to go to Big Future (the College Board’s database website) and use their college search function to find the colleges that match your profile. You have more options than you think.Footnotes[1] Find colleges and universities by major, location, type, more.

How to get into a good college?

straight A's lady! Take AP courses if you can. Join clubs/sports and participate in volunteer work. Find a couple colleges you are intersted in possibly going to and research what you need to have to get into the school.

If I dont take any AP classes in high school, does that I won't make it in college?

Last week my teachers were helping us decide what classes we should take next year (I'll be a senior) and my lit teacher asked me if I wanted to take AP lit next year since I have a 98 in his class. I said no, because I don't think I can handle the rigor of an AP class, especially being the non-studious student I am. But it has been on my mind, that maybe if I don't think I can handle an AP class, then maybe I'm not ready for college. Has anyone successfully gone through college without having taken any AP classes in high school? I would like some opinions on this.
