Will Immediate Care Refill The Prescriptions They Gave Me

How to get prescription refilled?

You won't get a refill from a ER on pain medications. It's not going to happen no matter what anyone here says.
Here are a few links that can help you,,, but not get pain meds.

You needed to let them know when you made the appointment that she would run out. Your only option is to go back to the ER if it is that bad.

If it was the doctor that your wife has already seen that gave her the Rx for the pain meds call his service!! If he has given her the meds before, and has actually seen her, he can just do it over the phone. But if it was meds from the ER forget it,,, you'll have to go back.

I take several narcotics every day for a spine injury and have dealt with pain medications for years.

No insurance, no doctor, need prescription refills!?

My last doctor prescribed me a drug I'll have to take for the rest of my life but didn't give me unlimited refills. Now I'm without insurance and no current family doctor after moving to another state and I need to get my prescription refilled. I called my former doctor, who first issued the prescription, and asked if he could just call it in without a doctors visit because of my lack of insurance and he refused. How can I accomplish this without spending 200 - 300 dollars for an office visit and another 100 for the prescription?

Should I go to urgent care to refill my medications?

I would call the old doctor and explain, they may give you 2 weeks worth to keep you going until you see the new doctor.

Remember that things are stressful, but you are the one in control. Things will get better. I am sorry for your losses. You are strong and will persevere!

Help with an expired prescription refill?

You must see another doctor. Do not change the date! That's a felony.
Call the same clinic and choose a different doctor. One that you can see tomorrow. Your records will be in the computer, and s/he will refill it for you. If they say they have no openings, just tell them the situation. Maybe they'll call the pharmacy on the phone, if you're lucky. I really don't know the laws where you live or if you have insurance, etc. If you DO have insurance and still have problems, call "Member Services." The phone # is on the back of your insurance card. You need a new primary doctor.
If you do NOT have insurance, talk to someone at the clinic for help.
Don't worry. If this is a medication that you cannot stop cold turkey, they will get it filled for you.
Best of luck...soon! ;)

Why is it so hard to get a prescription refill from my doctor's office?

I did my primary care rotation in a small to medium sized practice which had five doctors and around 6000 patients. Repeat prescriptions could be requested over the phone or online, the receptionist would print them for the doctors to sign and then collect them to the front desk for patients to pick up - usually on the next day. There are no doctors sitting around waiting for your refill requests, these are done among clinical duties. You see the patients waiting in the waiting room first. You refer the patient you suspect having cancer first. You take that emergency phone call and do a home visit to assess a dying patient first. Then you go through the letters about your patients who have been hospital for treatment and tests. And then you deal with repeats (usually long after office hours have ended).Writing a repeat is not just a signature at the bottom of the page. Legally your doctor is responsible for ensuring that you still need the medication and that it is safe to do so and evaluating all your meds at least annually. I've heard patients getting refills on drugs month after month when they were only meant (and are safe) for short term use. Should the patient have realized this? Probably. Should the doctor have noticed it? Probably. Or a drug can knock of your kidneys and you are supposed have renal function tests done every month and the doctor fails to notice this and you end up with renal failure. Or a patient keeps taking a drug they clearly have no need for (eg. OCP after hysterectomy). When you have 100+ 'urgent' refills, most for people who aren't even your 'own' patients, on your desk waiting to be signed between patients mistakes happen. Mistakes in medicine happen easily and can have serious consequences. In short, you are not their only patient, renewing a prescription is not just signature on the dotted line, there is no person whose only job it is to sign your prescription and your refill request is less urgent than all those patients in the waiting room or acutely unwell and delays would cause them much more inconvenience than waiting a day at the comfort of your home would cause to you.

Can urgent care centers prescribe pain medications?

My doctor had given me Vicodin for pain management last week. My meds have run out and I didn t get any refills. I called today and she told me to go to an urgent care center and they would take care of me. Don t urgent care centers have rules against prescribing pain meds and narcotics? Kind of pissed off because it shouldn t be this difficult.
