Will Ios7 Eventually Be Available For 4th Gen Ipod Touches

Will iOS7 be compatible with iPod touch 4th generation?

With iOS7 coming out next week, I am wondering whether it will also update the iPod touch 4th generations in my house. Every person in my family has the 4th generation iPod touch, and uses it very often (since everyone, except me, does not have an iPhone).

I've seen the compatibility chart for iOS 7, which shows that it will be compatible for the following:
~iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5s, and 5c
~iPod touch (5th generation) 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB
~iPad 2, retina display, and iPad mini.

I doesn't say anything about past iPod touches.
This worries me because one of my friends had told me that she did not update iOS on her old iPod touch (3rd gen I believe) for the longest time (she thought it cost money), and eventually her iPod became so outdated, it just died. Kaput.
Does this mean my family will have to trash our old iPods and buy new ones because they're outdated? NO ONE HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY IN THIS ECONOMY..

Will apps on Ipod Touch 4th Gen work when iOS 7 comes out?

I know that iOS 7 WON'T be on Ipod Touch 4th generations. But will some apps in the App Store update to where I won't be able to get some of them? I had one a year ago, but lost it. I finally saved up enough to get one again. But I don't want it where I won't be able to get some apps because of some new update that Apple dumbly decided to not put on the Ipod Touch 4th Gen (they stopped making them, but you can still get them on Amazon and stuff). PLEASE HELP!!!

How can I get a free iPod Touch 4th Generation for free?

It's not possible like Genwei said below. Unless you just happen to win some kind of sweepstakes. That is the only way you can get one absolutely free. However, if you don't mind doing a little bit of work for it then there are many sites out there that let you sign up and do tasks in order to gain points and eventually earn one. But that is not the same thing as getting it for free because you are actually doing some good work in order to get it. Here is an example of one of those sites below. http://yacash.com/free-ipodFor me personally, they take too much time and work. However, for some younger kids who don't have a full time job that just may be the thing for you. I would much rather just go out and buy one than spend that time trying to earn it. I would suggest just saving up your money or getting in as many sweepstakes giveaways as you can.

What are some criticisms of the iPod Touch 4th Generation?

Screen replacement is a pain in the ass.  Not only do you have to use a heat gun to pop out the glued screen, but the thin screen connector attaches deep on on the reverse side of the motherboard, calling for some very careful and delicate finger gymnastics to avoid tearing the volume/power ribbon cable.  And once you tear that delicate cable (shit!), you are in for some super delicate soldering work.  Finally, if you don't set everything in just exactly right, you will crack your brand new screen pressing it into place.Source:  Three screen replacements.

Is the Ipod 4th Generation useless now?

I am planning on buying an Ipod 4th generation on my birthday since I know won't get enough money for the 5th. I have heard rumors that since IOS 7 came out that now the Ipod 4th is useless or doesn't function properly. Is this true?

Does anybody still use iOS 6? Do popular apps like WhatsApp and popular games still work smoothly in iOS 6?

Support for iOS 6 is disappearing quickly with time, accelerated by new major iOS releases. Apps that are no longer updated by their developers will stay available, but apps that receive updates still will likely eventually lose support for iOS 6 so they can incorporate more new features from newer updates.Seeing that iOS 6 was the last available for the iPod touch (fourth generation) it will likely be supported for a bit longer by game developers who want to maximize their user base to include the users of that model, which at this point is mostly children and teenagers. If you are thinking of getting an iPhone 4s, you can update it past iOS 6. The iPhone 4s will run up to iOS 9 with no major issues.

Which iOS update was the most revolutionary (besides the original iOS)?

Lots of people here answered iOS 7 and 8, in terms of aesthetics and app extensions, which is very true. But as a user, the update that stood out to me as revolutionary was iOS 6. There is a reason for that. While it wasn't a huge aesthetic update, or not even as big of a functionality update as iOS 8 was, it packed a few things that made it different.Firstly, the UI. This one’s a very personal preference, some like the old UI, some like the new glossy app icons. But the old apps were more work based and not focused on being beautiful. And secondly, and most importantly, it was the most stable iOS version BY FAR. Many would disagree, but I have an iPod Touch 4th generation (8GB) running iOS 6 for the past 7 years and it has not given me a speck of lag or any sort of problem in all the time I have had it. On the other hand, my iPhone 5C (also 8GB) is 2 years old and lags on iOS 9 and 10 so much, it's almost become unusable in recent times. What was revolutionary about this? iOS systems are known to be consistent and fast, and this version of iOS was the biggest proof of the fact. It was also Steve Jobs’ last designs with Apple and it does have a special thing about it.UPDATE: iOS 6 was the first iOS version to introduce the voice assistant Siri, starting from the iPhone 4S.
