Will Lovefilm Release An App

Is it possible to get 'Netflix' or 'LOVEFiLM' on the Sony BDP s760 blu-ray player?

This is driving me insane, its currently connected to my WiFi network and has BD Live (whatever that is) but, apart from downloading updates, it seems to have no features whatsoever regarding the internet.

Tried looking for details on the Sony website but they've only got one blu-ray player on show. did some more raking through google and turns out they decided to discontinue the product.

I've got an Xbox 360 upstairs with a Netflix trial but I don't want to have to cart it to and fro just to watch a movie.

It doesn't really make any sense for it to have WiFi capabilities for it to only be able to update and nothing else.

How can I record streaming videos from websites like Netflix or Lovefilm?

With the CaptureStream program you can capture anything really. Netflix, Hulu, even music from Spotify. I did use the Audials program as the other answer suggested and it did work good, but for me it had too many buttons.CaptureStream, you just click start, it will know when the movie or music is done, you can also tell it that anthing in the stream less than one minute for example is a commercial. So if you're recording from a Podcast or something with a commercial it will take it out for you.For Netflix what I like is that the other app's for recording Netflix are really just recording the screen, so you have to keep the movie open, but with this one you just paste the URL of the Netflix movie into the app and it records it in the background. Does the same for any music or video site regardless of whether the streams are encrypted or not. I think you can try it free, I paid $20.00 a few years ago but saw that they were giving limited versions free now and then upgrading is optional. Home of the Ultimate Netflix Recorder is the site. I just see they changed the name to Netflix recorder, well it isn't really just for Netflix, but it says that...

Why hasn't Lovefilm in the UK rolled out comprehensive streaming on demand?

The reason that Lovefilm has not could ultimately be down to bandwidth.Virginmedia and BT are happy with the status quo and there is no real threat to their current streaming services such as Virgin OnDemand and BT Vision. Once a threat emerges they own a huge chunk of the network bandwidth. It will at this point that net neutrality will become the new buzz word in the UK. As BT and Virgin Media start throttling the bandwidth to their customers consuming the services of the new entrant and effectively killing them before they have any traction.Lovefilm now part of Amazon may have the might to be able take the bandwidth suppliers on and deliver the goods over the wire rather than in the post. With Amazons strong position as a cloud compute platform including their content delivery network CloudFront they are well place to move quickly and deploy a real compelling offering. So we see how long it will take before we get a netflix type service in the UK.

What is the future of TV if Netflix/Lovefilm can't pay for decent content for its UK customers?

For me as a consumer, limited.I've had free trials of both and after an initial frenzy I've dropped Netflix and we are only keeping LoveFilm going for the Peppa Pig episodes and the DVD rental. With the quality of ad free content we get on the BBC, the availability of iPlayer (4OD etc) and the wide variety of channels now available on FreeSat (with a PVR), the limited content of Netflix and LoveFilm is not really worth the price of a subscription to me.

If I install Microsoft Silverlight, will that sometimes cause the blue screen of death on my computer?

I just had my computer fix due to the blue screen coming up sometimes (which would cause me to my battery out and put it back in to turn my computer on), Now I can't watch Netflix movies without installing this "Microsoft Silverlight", so now I want to know is it 100% virus safe free?

Will the new Apple TV get support for Amazon Instant Video?

I think a good rule of thumb for determining of a video streaming service will be on the Apple TV is to see if there is already an iOS App for it. If so, you can be pretty certain they will port it to the Apple TV. So you can expect to see Plex, Sling TV, and Amazon Instant Video Apps on the Apple TV pretty quickly, as well as any other dedicated streaming apps.Having Amazon Instant Video on the Apple TV is a no-brainer as far as Amazon goes and they don't really see the Apple TV as a competitor. Amazon sells their hardware at break even prices and sometimes even at a loss and the purpose of their hardware is to drive people to use Amazon services. The fact that people are using Amazon from other devices doesn't bother them at all; they're still getting their $99 a year from Prime. Having the App on the Apple TV gives Amazon more traction in that market. Even before the launch of the Apple TV, a recent report showed that 60% of people who stream video content do it from Apple devices. Amazon will be anxious to get a piece of that.

Does the new Apple TV offer native DivX support?

Not at the moment unfortunatly, formats supported are: H.264, MPEG-4 and M-JPEG (http://bit.ly/cj6Kj0). You can of course use one of the many open source and free tools to convert files but it is an extra step.I am hopefull that the approval of VLC player for the App store means Divx and other formats will soon be supported on iOS devices or at least that you can use Airplay to stream video via VLC player from your iPhone or iPad to your Apple TV

Why hasn't any company tried to "mimic" Apple's ecosystem?

Amazons ecosystem will prove to be on a scale not even Apple can match. They've got books and music naturally covered and a growing list of hardware Their app store is already reported to be more profitable than Play. That by itself can never beat Apple but more than enough to beat Google. However having groceries, electronics, toys and games, health and beauty etc etc. Actually reinvents the ecosystem - that no other company will ever be able to follow. Whilst Apple and Google stick to what will be the "traditional ecosystem" of their own branded hardware and software together with out of house apps, books and movies. Amazon will be looking down at them from a totally different stratosphere. Weekly grocery shop check. Latest Angry Bird app check. The next 50 Shades Of Grey check. Lovefilms latest release check. Resident Evil check. New console to play it on check. Etc. Etc. Amazon will reinvent the ecosystem. Mind boggling just how massive they will become. Ultimately an ecosystem of infinite choice and possibilities. Googles open source ethics and choice of how many hundred handsets? Will seem quaint in comparison.
