Will Methadone Make Me Sick

If I go to a methadone clinic will they call cps?

I've been prescribed pain killers for the past year and a half and started building a tollerance so I quit not knowing that I would get sick and it was the worst feeling of my life I go to a free clinic and they won't help me they just prescribed more and told me to taper off and it didn't go well I felt suicidal so I started buying them from a friend I want to go to the methadone clinic so I can quit without getting sick I don't even like taking them or how they make me feel I just don't want to get sick again but I googled it and they ask about your family so I'm scared they will call cps. I have a toddler .

Feel very sick after taking Methadone?

Sunday I took 10mg of Methadone at about 1 PM, 5mg every 3.5 hours. Then yesterday I took 10mg at about 4 PM then 5mg 3.5 hours after that. I woke up today and I feel awful. I rarely ever take drugs, this was a first. But some symptoms are: Sweating, headache, dehydrated, very hot, woozy when I stand up, not hungry, heartbeat is light, stuffed nose. That's about it. My heartbeat is higher than the 12 beats per minute as some website said could be signs of an overdose. I've laid in bed all day, only drinking water. I just really need suggestions on what to do. I'm 19, 5'11'', 150 pounds if that matters. Please help! I figured I'd be dead already if I overdosed, so maybe I'm just sick?

Will expired methadone pills hurt me?

It is quite possible. Do you take methadone now? Even if you do they could be weak enough to put you in to withdrawals. For a prescription drug that cost pennies per tablet, why take a chance on getting sick? I mean these things are dirt cheap, you can buy an aircraft carriers worth of $10. Very unlike most other drugs of that type, it's about the only opiate I wouldn't take expired. They are cheap for a reason which makes them easily replaceable for fresh tablets. I would pass on expired methadone, prescribed medically or used otherwise. I don't think they would kill you (of course much depends on things like tolerance) but brother they could make you sick like a dog. I would pass.

Can I take Suboxone if I ran out of methadone?

As long as you are in slight withdrawal from methadone, you can. I, personally, went from a methadone clinic to prescribed Suboxone. Some doctors will advise a 3 day gap between the two, but I had no issue making the switch. I even took some Vicodin the day before the Suboxone and was not sick at all.

How long will it take before I feel better after stopping methadone?

I was on methadone for about 6 years, most of the time at 150 mg. I tapered down to 7mg in the last 18 months(I was going to go lower, but I had a false positive my last week, and rather than coming in every day for 2 weeks until it was retested, I decided to just stop there). The first two weeks I would say were mild to moderate in terms of withdrawals. I didn't have trouble sleeping, although most people do. I'm not sure I would even call it withdrawal, just mild discomfort. After those 2 weeks, my body felt good, but the longest lasting factor was that for several months after, it was a lot harder to find joy as my brain readjusted from my decade long chemical dependancy. So to answer your question, it depends. If you taper down to zero, you may experience very mild withdrawals for a week or two, but there will be longer lasting effects. My best piece of advice would be not to sit around watching TV, but to do things that allow actual input. For me, video games helped. Playing basketball with my friends helped. Going out and doing things helped. But when I just sat around watching TV like I did often on methadone, I started to go stir crazy. It's been about 7 months since I got off of methadone. It's still somewhat difficult to sit around idly, but not nearly as bad as those first months. My friend has been off of it for about 2 years now, and he said that for him, those residual effects lasted about a year.Good luck. Look forward to the day when you can wake up completely sober and feel content. It will come.

How can I keep methadone from causing me nausea?

If you are prescribed methadone for pain relief you might be on other medications as well, and the underlying condition could be playing a part in your discomfort. You could try eating a meal before you take your methadone, but I suggest that you talk to your prescribing physician. If you are on methadone maintenance treatment, then I suggest that you get in the habit of eating a good breakfast before you dose. Sometimes the taste of the methadone alone brings on nausea, but it usually helps to suck on a mint after you’ve washed your dose down with water. If you continue to feel sick after you eat, and the problem doesn't go away after a few weeks on your current dose, talk to your counselor. He/she may want you to speak with a nurse or the clinic physician, but it is more likely that they’ll suggest a lower dose. Remember that methadone doesn't need to get you high in order to prevent withdrawals and cravings. The goal is to find a dose that keeps you feeling fine throughout the day without making itself felt in other ways.

Does methadone make you sleep a lot?

While the other answer addressed the side effects of methadone abuse, I will address proper, steady use.Methadone has a one hour onset time when given orally. At this time, the patient may feel tired (if there is marked sleepiness or sedation the dose likely needs to be decreased). If the patient stays awake and active, this transient tiredness will pass within 20–30 minutes. If sleep is preferred, a 30–60 minute nap will ease fatigue. The side effects will, of course, be different for each patient, and will also vary depending upon dosing schedule. If the methadone is being taken on an as-needed basis at a relatively low dose, the tiredness will be less apparent than if the person is taking a higher, once-daily dose.

Is it possible to build up a tolerance to methadone?

6 years ago I made the biggest mistake of my life and got on methadone. About 2 years ago I started feeling sick in the morning, mind you I was on 110 mgs at the time, Im now on 85 ,anyway soon the uncomfort and sick feelings started to wake me up in the middle of the night, I now take Tylonol pms to help me get through the night. I now start feeling bad 12 hours after I take the methadone. I've been staying at the same dose now for the last 8 months. Now my question is, Can you build a tolerance to methadone or could there be something else thats causing this. I haven't used any drugs in 4 years so I'm pretty scared that Im going to end up relapsing and I can't do that now, I'm finally starting to get my life back in order and on track and this is starting to consume me. I spoke to another woman who was on 120 mgs and she claims to feel the same way but shes also a pill popper I suspect so its not really the same. A nurse that dispenses the methadone told me a story about a pregnant woman who was on a high dose and her baby was fine with no withdrawal at all but yet a woman on a low dose had her baby in the hospital for months withdrawing. It makes me wonder if the high doses are even effective...maybe it stops working the higher it goes? It may cancel itself out somehow. Im 128 lbs and 5'3 also, when I first went up in the dose it overwhelmed me, I vomited every morning after it would kick in, and at the time I was going to school and while I would be studying Id just nod out no matter how hard I tried to keep my eyes open, this was 4 years ago, now it feels like its not doing anything at all. Why would this be happening? Also will a detox take me on 85 mgs, because I think thats what I'm going to have to do. Thanks for letting me ramble on, hopefully someone can help.

How does methadone makes you feel?

Methadone makes each individual person feel different in their own way. In my experience and from others around me, I will answer this question the best way I can.One major factor in this question is whether or not you are addicted to opiates and you are really taking methadone to avoid taking opiates or other street drugs. If you are taking methadone for a replacement of your addiction, then it takes away the craving to use your first opiate drug of choice.Methadone numbs your mind, feelings, emotions, pain, your body and other things. You don't even realize how numb you really are until you actually start getting off of methadone. The feeling of methadone is similar to the feeling of being a functioning opiate addict. It makes the mind and body slower and increases your appetite immensely. The biggest cravings are usually sugars and sweets. Methadone usually is calming but also gives a person boosts of energy and motivation when the dosage is first taken each day.If you take it without the purpose of getting off other opiates and are trying it to get high, it is extremely dangerous and sometimes lethal. This would make a person sleepy and possibly slow your breathing to the point of death.
