Will My Baggage Be Checked All The Way Through My Flights

Do I have to check my baggage again for connecting flights?

If you bought your airline tickets just through United and United arranged for China Airlines to be the connection in L.A., then you luggage should be checked all the way through to Beijing but I don't think China Airlines is in any type of partnership with United.

If you had to buy separate airline tickets from both United and China Airlines to get to Beijing, then you have to get your bags from United and check them in to China Airlines once you get to L.A. and if this is the case, you want to make sure there's enough time to do this because they say to allow at least two hours to get through international customs and this would be in Los Angeles because Chicago-Los Angeles is considered a domestic flight only.

If I have connecting flight, will they transfer my checked-in luggage from one aircraft to another, or do I have to re-check in it?

Oooh this is such a contentious issue these days. The optimal solution is your bag is ‘checked through’, that is if you have two - or more - connecting flights, then your bags will be loaded at first airport and you won’t have to collect until you arrive at final destination. What can stop/prevent/disrupt this lovely idea.Airlines that don’t have ‘check-through’ agreements with each other.Airlines that do have through check available, but your booking is actually two separate tickets. For example, you book flight one with one booking reference and a later booked flight/amended flight details will have another booking reference. Often times, you can ‘merge’ the ticket at the airport airline desk before flying.Check-in staff that are having bad daysAirlines that fall out with their partner/codeshare airlines, or are trying to squeeze money out of their passengers - e.g. British Airways have been known to charge fees for check-throughs whilst their partners don’t.Your flight missing the connectionBaggage handlers that have had too much biryiani/beer/boogie/bumpity bumpity on their lunch break.Bottom line - check with your carrier first, especially if you are booking multiple legs with different airlines and through different booking sources.

How does check-in of baggage and connecting flights work?

The baggage tag of every checked in baggage is printed as per the passenger's itinerary which is available in the reservations file made for the passenger.Every airport in the world has a Minimum Connecting Time for providing connections from one incoming flight to another outgoing flight, depending on which type of flight the passenger traveling and connecting to. This is like;*Ariving by a domestic flight and connecting to another domestic flight*Arriving by a domestic flight, connecting to an international flight*Arriving by an international flight, connecting to a domestic flight*Arriving by an international flight, connecting to an international flightMinimum Connecting Time is decided by weighing various matters such as the distance and traveling time between terminals, counter closing time etc. and as such the time is not uniform to all airports. This MCT is fed into Airline Reservations Systems for processing multi airline connecting flight reservations around the world.Once checked in, the baggage is tagged at the counter itself which shows the Destination IATA City Code in Bold letters and the flight number, date etc. If the baggage is routed through another airport, details of routing flight, via Airport, date etc.The tags show information like passenger name, PNR , number of bags and total weight and also tag numbers. To identify and to provide special handling of First and Business class passenger bags an appropriate tag is also added to the bag.Bags are sorted according to the priority like normal and immediate transfer of transit bags, upper class bags and economy class passenger bags at the Baggage Make Up area and loaded to trollies or containers which are sent to the aircraft for loading. The transfer baggage containers are loaded in the last so as to unload it at the destination first so as to make the transfer quick and easy. The shortest connection time is for domestic to domestic in all countries and more time required for domesyic to international.

Vaporizer through checked baggage?

so I'm flying to college tomorrow, and I want to bring my new magic flight launch box with me for tobacco. It is completely unused, however, it was stored in a drawer containing a bit of my brother's marijuana. Is this safe to bring in my checked bags? I do not want to run a risk of the cannaboids or w.e being detected. Again, it is completely new, but it was in a drawer with marijuana (the drawer reeked of it) I think.

Hi, so i am going to travel to Norway next week and i have some questions about my luggage.

I will be traveling from Phoenix to New York EWR with United Airlines,

How do I transfer my baggage to connecting flights of different airlines in India?

Never book connecting flights of different airlines. You booked trouble by booking different airlines.First and for most, they won't transfer your baggage! So claim your bags as soon as possible, from the belts!Only connecting flights from same airline do this. For example, if you had an indigo to indigo connection, they would have done it for you. A lot of people have mentioned wrong facts about it. Either they had connecting flights of same airline or partner airlines within same alliance. For example etihad and jet aiways are partners and air india and a few other are under star alliance. Now listen what to do. When you arrive, follow the instructions and take your baggage from the belts. Move to the departures terminal and wait for your second flight, simple.I really hope the two flights have at least 3 hours of gap, between arrival of your first flight and departure of second. Please mark my words, connecting flights of same airlines are safest. If the first flight is delayed and you miss the second one, you will be compensated and given a second flight. If they are from different airlines, you can't claim or get any compensation.

I am flying through dubai and I have porn in my checked baggage?

I would not worry. If the inspectors find the porn you are only looking at life in prison unless you get a radical Muslim judge then maybe a quick beheading. Relax, enjoy your trip.

Do I need to recheck my baggage during a stopover between two different airline flights?

This depends on 2 factorsWhere you are flying to andThe airlines you are flying withFirstly, when flying internationally, your baggage will need to clear customs in your destination country and you will need to clear immigration. So when your final destination is an international airport, or international terminal where there is a customs and immigration facility, checking your baggage all the way through to your final destination is usually possible. BUT if your final destination is a purely domestic airport, or terminal, which doesn’t have these facilities you often can’t do this. You will often have to retrieve your baggage, clear customs, and recheck. A couple of examples of thisI often enter the US via LAX or SFO and then connect through, via a US domestic carrier, to other airports such as Austin, Las Vegas, Cinncinnati etc. In these cases I ALWAYS have to clear immigration and customs in LAX /SFO and recheck my baggage with the domestic carrier I am using. However, I never have to do this on the return, as Singapore obviously is an international airportIf you enter Australia via any airport, and then have domestic connections to any other city, you will always have to clear immigration and customs at your point of entry to the country, and then recheck your baggage for your connection. This is because your final destination will be a domestic terminal which does not have immigration or customs facilities. But you will not have to do the same thing on the return legSo in short - does your final destination airport terminal have customs facilities or not?The second factor is the airlines you are flying. If your flights are on one ticket, you will have no problem checking your bags through. But if you have bought separate tickets for each leg, and the airlines do not have a code share / alliance or other relationship, then you will probably not be able to check your bags through

How does checked-in baggage work with layover/multiple airlines?

It depends on the relationship between the two airlines. Usually, the first place you check in will check it all the way through to your final destination. But I had an experience in Singapore where my incoming airline didn't have a "relationship" with Delta, which I was flying back to the States. I had to pick up my luggage and check it back in. Your initial airline can tell you whether they are able to to check your bags all the way through.
