Will My Braces Stain My Teeth

Will my teeth be stained after braces?

It is a possibility, I took very good care of my teeth as well but I did end up with one very faint white mark. It's not very obvious at all but I was very fortunate many people have really bad white marks. You can kind of see if you are going to get spots sometimes if they spots are big but sometimes you can't. If you floss around the bracket really well and brush good until there is absolutely no plaque left on the tooth then look right around close the bracket there could possibly be a lighter color right around the bracket which may indicate a white spot will be there when the braces come off. They will give you an estimate like usually it takes people lets say a year and half to straighten their teeth (depending on how crooked the teeth are at first) so they will estimate an average month at first and then as the times gets closer they can see if they need to extend the months or if you will get them off early based on how straight and if your teeth have reached the positions they are supposed to be in.

I'm worried that my braces will stain my teeth!?

I have braces and I will be getting them off soon. I already know I am going to have to get them whitened.

Well the stains left from your braces are because you don't brush your teeth good. So take care to brushing and once you get em off just go to the dentist to give em a polish.
I know it is difficult to brush em real good night and day as food is easily trapped but what ya gonna do, too late for me lol

Will my teeth be stained if I've had braces for 5 years?

Braces Treatment usually is a long term treatment, Average time period for which braces stay on teeth is around 1.5 years, however few treatments can be finished in 9 months and more complex treatments may require 2.5 years. However treatment for 5 years in very unlikely and I don’t know why your braces were kept on for that long.Braces catch food and pose cleaning issues in the mouth and hence it becomes very important to clean your teeth regularly and efficiently after every meal, apart from the usual tooth brush you must also use a interdental tooth brush to clean between the wire and teeth.Due to inefficient cleaning your teeth may stain however these stains can be tackled with scaling (Professional cleaning of teeth by dentist/hygienist)More serious side-effects of inadequate cleaning during braces is White spot lesions and cavities. which may appear as stains, kindly get yourself tested for them by a dentist

How can I remove braces stains from my teeth?

There are different kinds of stains.First of all, did you know that those brackets are bonded to your teeth using special resines? When you have braces put, brackets are bonded to your teeth after they have bee carefully cleaned in the dental office and the enamel surface where the brackets are bonded suffers a light demineralization in order to resins used can hold the brackets attached to tooth surface.During orthodontic treatment that can last in average no less than 2 years, the enamel bellow the brackets remains protected by this interface film of resin used for bonding. So we can have some different situations that can cause those stains:- In case of poor hygienization (not brushing your teeth well) a demineralization of the part of the teeth uncovered could happen.By end of treatment when the brackets are removed, a pristine “tatoo” of enamel that was protected, may appear rounded by a more “opaque” tooth surface. This is the more difficult stain to be removed and your orthodontist can suggest the gradual remineralization of parts that are “opaque”, since a rapid remineralization using fluor could perenize those “milky” stains traping demineralized enamel under a film of fast remineralized one obtained thru fluor application. If you ingest frequntly colored drinks or foods , like some artificial juices, too much coffee, or smoke cigarettes the difficult areas to be cleaned around the brackets can show dark stains that are more easily removed by your Orthodontist or Dental Hygienist at the time of brackets removal.-Another case is if your Oral Hygiene is inadequate for excessive use of hard toothbrushes and/or abrasive toothpaste, the enamel not “protected” by the brackets suffers abrasion and after removal the covered surface can show differences of color or even look a little bit more “elevated” than surrounding area. This is a more difficult situation, but your Orthodontist also can take care of it and tends to disappear over some period of time. Most of those situations can be prevented if you visit your Orthodontist regulary and don’t loose appointments.

Braces Stains?

you orthodontist checks for these things he or she will tell you if your teeth are staining. My teeth stained a little bit when I had my braces. If you want to stop your teeth from staining just brush after every meal.

Scared about braces staining my teeth?

I've had braces now for 6 months and have another 8 months to go. If i'm completely honest I'm not very good at brushing; i'm lazy, forgetful and go to bed late. My gums were a bit inflamed so i went to my orthodontist today and she said I had a lot of plaque built up on the bottom set of my teeth (she said the top set were fine) and she did some very painful cleaning and then gave me some mouthwash/tepe brushes etc. etc.

Now since this afternoon I've been googling frantically and reading all the horror stories about your teeth being stained and ugly after braces due to this plaque build up..... I'm so worried i'm nearly having a panic attack - I didn't even particularly need/want these braces they are really only cosmetic but now if they end up ruining my teeth instead of fixing them I will be crushed.

is it too late? do i have no hope :-(

How do you whiten teeth that have stains from braces?

When braces are removed after orthodontic treatment, white spots are noticed on the outer surface of your dental enamel. One can get rid from the appearance of white spots by taking proper care of dental hygiene. Your orthodontist must have recommended you to take proper care of your teeth by brushing, flossing and avoiding foods that can stain teeth. It is a hassle for orthodontic patients to clean their teeth while wearing braces. My teeth were slightly misaligned and certified Invisalign dentist from Center for Dental Implants recommended my mother to go for Invislign to get rid of all these hassle. To remove the stains, it will be better to consider professional teeth whitening treatment or use whitening products recommended by an experienced cosmetic dentist.  Professional teeth whitening treatment that is performed at the dentist’s office is one of the quickest and effective methods to whiten your teeth without any side effects.
