Will My Laptop Be Okay For Some Light Gaming

Best 750$ laptop for light gaming?

It depends on your definition of light gaming because to some that is Tetris and to others it is Crysis, but if you want to play games like World of Warcraft or Sims then a $750 laptop is more then enough to run those. Here are some good ones.

With a better graphics card on this one it will run almost all of the new games on at least medium.

Here is another one that will run all the games you would need it to

Those are two good options, but there are many others. Just keep looking around until you find the right one.

Since you're an on campus student I won't recommend you to go after a PC.Sure a PC is better for gaming but it lacks portablity. Good laptop for light gaming?

The Dell has no pictures card, yet intergrated pictures from the processor, that are wonderful for "gentle gaming". The HP does look more advantageous for gaming yet for some thing else not graphical (in truth some thing not a interest) the Dell looks more advantageous, because it really is an intel processor, not amd. they'd both artwork properly for what you defined, so it really is in common words decision

Better laptop for "light" gaming?

Now, when I say "light" gaming I mean like Battlefiled 2142, COD 4, and others around those same lines for only like a few hours a day & maybe if I can squeeze out Crysis that would be a plus.. Photoshop will also be installed on the computer since I am going to school for graphic design. Any help is thankful!

Best Gaming Laptop Under $450?

The first is a March 2013 release CPU and therefore that laptop is over a year old and since I do not consider used or refurb without a one year guarantee, show me a new one for $450 and it is a potential.
Otherwise, it's A10-5750M and built-in HD 8650G paying extra for touchscreen, fairly low ratings by customers as a laptop, speed score of the cpu is 3384

CPU is newer and stronger at 3825 score
R6 Kaveri is generally average rank 196 so is better.
But, this says they are almost the same, with the R6 only slightly better

Reported gaming results do show sometimes one is better and sometimes the other.

The third with A10-4655M is not for consideration as it is very old and low performance compared with the other two.

This has a discrete graphics card in it along with the A10-7300.
Will dig a bit further even though $9 and tax of the price above your range.
Although a slower CPU, this should rank, when on AC Power for using the discrete card, as rank 171
In general, this one should be better gaming, though it can use an upgrade to 8GB in system ram.
It has 4GB system ram, and 2GB Graphics dedicated ram in AMD Radeon R7 M260DX

Is my laptop good enough for gaming?

I just got steam and want to know if I can run some higher-end games. I don't want to blow 50 bucks and find that my laptop can't run them.

Processor: AMD Turion II P540 Dual-Core (2.4Ghz)
4 gigs of ram
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

I'm thinking of games along the lines of Black Ops and Left for Dead. I don't mind having to turn some settings down, but can I run them?

Is an XPS laptop with an i5 6200u with 8GB good for gaming?

It depends what game you're trying to run, but probably not. I believe the laptop you're looking at has intel integrated graphics (HD 520 to be exact). This means that it won't perform as well when gaming as would a laptop with a dedicated GPU.The i5 would be enough for many games, except for the top-tier titles. 8gb of RAM would be plenty.Overall, for about 1000$ (XPS asking price), you could get a far better gaming laptop. Try looking at computers by MSI USA. I just took a very brief look and found numerous MSI laptops that would outperform the XPS for significantly less money. My brother has one and it's great. My point is, the XPS wouldn't be ideal if you're looking for a gaming machine. Try looking around for some other options. I'm sure you'd be happy with what you find if you're willing to look.Good luck!

Is this laptop good for gaming?

If you want to buy a gaming laptop I say save up and get one that will last you for a while. Otherwise build a gaming pc or if you must have a gaming laptop spend more as it will last you longer. Unless you plan on upgrading every couple years. Here is what I think, 940m is low end card I doubt you will be able to run Arma 3 on it, maybe on low res and low settings. 4GB of ram is low too, at least 8GB I recommend. Dual core processor is alright for some games and will get you by but its a good idea to get a quad core. Depending how much you are looking to spend you might find something on Gaming Laptops Under 1000 that suits your needs. For an overall decent gaming experience go with at least a 960m gpu. Good luck and if you have any questions let me know!

Is my laptop good enough for gaming NOW?

No. That's a terrible gaming laptop. If you're only planning on playing old games like Starcraft, WC3, and Diablo2, and perhaps Counterstrike with lacking FPS, then that's the laptop for you.

However, if you want a Gaming laptop that will handle modern games like Crysis and Assassin's Creed, will will want to invest in some higher grade hardware. It is given that you want at least 3-4GB of RAM and a satisfactory hard drive (storage size of your choice).

HOWEVER, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT:

First, you want a good graphics card. The one you ahve selected, the X1150, is a Class 5 card - otherwise known as "Low End Graphics Cards." These were really only meant for the basic/average user who likes to surf the web and watch the occasional movie. These are not for those who want to do some gaming.

Next, you need a better processor. Today's games are pretty CPU demanding. Of course, you've already got the dual-core type CPU selected, but you want to have at least 2.0GHz for some enjoyable speeds. I recommend 2.4GHz

Finally and most importantly, you need a BETTER VIDEO CARD. What you've selected on your comp is the older X1150 by Radeon. However, that's a Class 5 "Low End Graphic Card." These are only really meant for the basic/average user for everyday emails, websurfing, and video viewing. The video card is the key to enjoying your games. They handle all of the Graphics processing load and allow you to play with better frame rates and higher qualities. Now, you want a Dedicated discrete videocard with at least 256MB of GDDR2 or GDDR3 memory and, at the VERY LEAST, a Class 3 card. I recommend a Class 2 card or better.

With the specifications I have given, you can find pretty good laptops in the $900-$1300 range. If this is more than you planned to spend, then I'm sorry to say that you're out of luck when it comes to buying new. You might have to look for used/refurbished computers to get a good gaming laptop for less than that given range.

As the others have stated, gaming laptops tend to be more expensive than an equivalent or even better gaming PC. Plus, PCs are upgradeable and last longer. Laptop parts cannot be changed as easily and are more prone to transport and heat damage. True gaming laptops also tend to be big, heavy, and use power like no tomorrow - meaning they won't last long on battery.

Looking for a gaming laptop around $500?

Not happening, it is good only for business laptops, you can shoehorn a 2nd hand geriatric Quadra-enabled workstation laptop and hope for the best it is good enough to run Mirror's Edge Cat. But the research along is just too much for someone to help you.

I have a Core 2 Duo with Quadra FX mobile and old 3rd gen i7 with Quadra NVS, I count myself lucky to ran into them on eBay as half-dead units. Neither is enough for that game.
