Will My Teeth Stay Straight If I Take Off My Braces

Why don't teeth stay straight after braces?

I know, it's crazy!!! I've had my braces off for like 2 years now, and hadn't been wearing my bottom retainer like I should have, and I am allready getting a bit of a crossbite! UUrrg!

I think it's because of how teeth are anchored in your jaws. They arn't just in a hole in your bone, but the hole they are in has a lining called the periodontal ligament (PDL). That is more elastic than the actual bones, and so you have to keep your retainers in to keep that where it needs to be, for way longer than the actual teeth in your bones would take.

Good Luck!! I know, it's so so so annoying!!! I wear a top retainer 24/7 because of a gap (it has a plastic tooth on it) and so I don't even think about my bottom retainer and then poof, I have some teeth movement. Darn it!

Good Luck! If your retainers stil fit, you can probably get it back to what you want it to be.

Do braces straighten your teeth for "ever" ?

Braces will permanently straighten teeth unless something happens to the straightened teeth to cause them to shift, cross, or move. If whatever caused the teeth to not be straight in the first place continues then it will be a constant struggle to keep them straight.

Can you get braces if your teeth are straight?

It doesn't matter whether you have straight or, bent teeth. Braces are used for correcting bite problems and bringing distantly placed tooth closer (which is a pathological problem) using bone resorption method. If you feel you have normal ‘straight’ teeth with no bite issue problems, then don't use any braces. Having braces unnecessarily will surely and only worsen your beautiful dental arrangement in the mouth. You should better visit an orthodontist (specialised dentist) or, a senior cum reputed dentist for further treatment procedures.

Why won't my teeth stay straight after braces?!?

i had my braces on for 2 1/2 years and i hated them. i got them off in may and they gave me a removable retainer for the top teeth and they glued a permanent retainer to the back of my bottom teeth. my bottom teeth have stayed straight. however, about a month after i got my retainer, my two "vampire teeth" shifted down so they had to adjust my retainer, which made them go back up. but then one of the teeth on the other side went crooked, and they asked me if i was totally against the idea of getting brackets back on for a short period, which i was, so they made me a new retainer. now though, one of my two front teeth is lower and so is the tooth next to it. i wear my retainer during the night and partially some of the day, and i know i should wear it all the time, but i dont. i really really dont want brackets again, they dont look right on my face. im in tears. my other friends only wear their retainers at night and their teeth are fine. what should i do?

My teeth are straight, how much longer will I need to wear braces?

I'm 34 and have had braces for 8 months and my teeth have straightened up perfectly. I have a very slight overbite and have opted not to have it corrected. My ortho is acting like I could still have my braces on for a year or more to allow my jaw to adjust. That seems very extreme!? Anyone have any idea how long it take your jaw to adjust and how soon I could possibly get out of these?

How long do braces stay on after your teeth are completely straight?

hey......,
some time it require to continue braces even after straight teeth because there will be correction of your tooth crown but not of your roots, to upright roots braces have to continue and root up-righting will prevent relapse of treatment and make your teeth stable.

Will getting my braces off make my teeth look whiter?

Only if you end up with hypocalcifications. That is little white spots that outline where your brackets were. You do not want those because they are early cavities, class one type; detract from all that time and money spent on straight teeth. Drs have trouble getting all the bonding off in fact bond will remain in some areas and the teeth will darken. Your doctor will re check you to make sure all bond off and ask him to make you some bleaching trays to act as a retainer and whiten your teeth. Maybe he can do it for free:) Also ask him for a copy of the before and after models.

What will happen if I get my braces off early? I've had them on for a year and my teeth are straight enough for me.

I recommend talking to the orthodontist. The REAL purpose of braces is not necessarily to improve your smile— its to improve th way the teeth fit together and work together. Misaligned teeth can shift your bite in an unhealthy, dysfunctional way that can cause painful jaw problems, headaches, and make you grind your teeth . Having them nice and straight and pretty is a nice perk but its not the main goal. You should be aware that teeth move very slowly through the bone. Its is normal for teeth to feel loose for a while as they move, and the braces are necessary to hold them in place until the bone fills in around the roots so they dont automatically begin shifting back again.Also- just because the front teeth are straight does NOT mean that the bite is correct. Orthodontists do these things in stages. No one but your orthodontist can tell you where in your treatment plan you are and what the risks are if you have them removed early.Ask at your next appointment. Be aware however, that you are probably going to be billed for most if not all of the treatment, even if you get them off early. Especially if the doctor has arranged some kind of payment plan with you.
