Will Obamacare Cover Me When I Travel Out Of The Country

Can Trump really get rid of Obamacare?

even Bubba says it's crazy

What is Obamacare (unbiased answer please)?

It seems like everyone I know is a hardcore conservative or liberal, an gives me a really bs answer. Even with my limited knowledge of politics I can see that they are giving me crap. Thank you so
Much. (it would be really great if you could how you feel about it in the bottom of your answer. Thanks again!

What if I don't pay my taxes and leave the country?

Okay, you are not in as deep of a problem as you think.
The IRS is stretched too thin that they rarely audit, let alone go after someone who did not file their taxes.
I know people who have not filed taxes for years, and some who scam the system year after year and they get by. Now I don't encourage you to do either.
If you still have the W-2 forms, file the taxes and get it done with. Worst case scenario at this point is that you pay some extra for interest that would have accured on the money you did not pay.
You might not owe as much as you think, as online transactions are loosely regulated and most don't need to be filed (if you did not receive a W-2, you do NOT need to file that income). For example, no one who sells on ebay (unless you are a registered company) pays income on the profit they make.

Anyway, I am including an IRS link that will give you instructions/directions on how to go about filing your delinquent tax returns. That is the credible IRS governmental website with the real information you need.

Why is short-term travel health insurance almost 1/10th the cost of regular health insurance?

I have never lived in the USA but insurance is about likely risk and costs. TLDR: Less risk, less to cover, so smaller premium. The following would come into consideration. As Tom Musgrove noted there is a out of pocket limit - which means if something really bad occurred you are in trouble. USA has very high healthcare costs compared to the rest of the world. It spends 17% of it's GDP on healthcare costs compared to say about 10% for NZ or less than 5% for Singapore. Thus healthcare costs overseas are cheaper. When I purchased travel insurance my company had two rates one for the the USA and Japan and another for the rest of the world which was cheaper. Exclusions. Often insurance companies will exclude certain activities and certain parts of the world, so if you plan on going skiing you need to buy extra cover. This policy covers a young demographic thus such persons have a lower risk of getting sick. I would suggest that a major risk on holiday is just accidents. Recovery of costs in an accident via litigation. Obamacare has a number of compulsory areas which are covered - does this policy cover all these areas? Do you need pregnancy cover? Pregnant people generally don't go on holiday (and find it difficult to fly) near the time of expected birth. It would not surprise me if this policy had a no pre-existing conditions clause or required such cases to pay extra for cover. This reduces risk. Are you going to need a kidney transplant on holiday? Are you going to have non urgent surgery on holiday? There are many treatments you just don't get on holiday - you just get the urgent treatment. All of this reduces risk and thus cost. I also note that one thing such insurance might cover is repatriation costs. If you have to be flown home on a charter medical flight this can cost a fortune. This would add to the cost of cover.

Does my insurance cover medical travel?

For expatriates, global citizens, world traveler's: Global Health Insurance Plansprovide extensive health benefits including treatment and care of illnesses, wellness care, vision and dental, maternity, etc. They will offer coverage in your home country and anywhere else in the world. First, many countries do not health free health care services, especially for non-citizens. So if you get sick or injured, you may be expected to pay for your own medical care. Medicaid coverage across state lines?

Also its not "taxpayers" money its my money. I have worked and supported kids on government support before I decided to be a stay-at-home mom and my husband works in IT at a college university. His company's insurance is too high to pay for it out of pocket but we did quality for govt. medical. We are not sponges like most people on medical and as soon as my littlest kid goes to kindergarten I will go back to work and take them off. So screw any of you with rude comments you don't know our situation. I also asked here because if you don't call our Department of Human Services at directly 8am you can forget about getting through to talk to them at all and you still normally have to wait several hours in their call queue just to talk to someone. I thought it would just be MORE CONVENIENT to ask here.
