Will People Still Get Their Welfare If The Government Shuts Down

Will I still get paid on the 1st & 15th if the government shuts down?

if you're not on welfare (or work for the government, which is the same thing) then you have nothing to worry about

Now that our president has partially shut down the government, will Social Security payments be given at the end of the month of January?

I googled - - during government shutdown will social security be paidGot, among other things - - Social Security Checks Paid, But Government Shutdown Can Still Damage ProgramUse the resources people. You are on the net. And are not as stupid as Trump who cannot even Google himself.

So, the government got shut down by DACA?

Yes, the democrats thought protecting DACA was more important than allowing the government. There nothing in the ball that they opposed, they voted against it because of what it did not include, putting the welfare of 800,000 people in the country illegally ahead of the welfare of 315 Million US citizens.

Do you think people with SSI be affected by the Governent shut down?

Everyone is affected by the government shut down. People on SSI are as affected as all poor people are. Their SSI checks will continue to go out. They cannot be reduced according to law.

The checks if they were delayed would cause such chaos in this country it would never happen. By law people on SSI cannot save even 3 months of benefits. Most people on SSI cannot afford to have any savings at all. So where would all these people go if they did not get their check? Suddenly millions of disabled people homeless? There is no infrastructure to deal with that disaster.

Here's what happens....

No SSI check, you can't pay your utilities. So the gas companies, electric companies, cable companies all have to eat the bill for the services received. They are going to have to petition the government to raise their prices or stop doing business. So who is going to pay higher utility prices - the rich and middle class.

You can't pay your rent so you get evicted and are homeless. No one is available to live where you lived so the landlord also loses money. He can't afford to pay his mortgage and so he loses the property he owns. Who own most property - the rich.

People who own cars won't be able to fill them with gas. The gas stations will still have customers, but far fewer. In order to pay their bills they are going to have to purchase less gas and raise the price of the gas they do sell. Who will still be buying gas, but now at higher prices - the rich and middle class.

The banks are going to have millions of homes and cars to foreclose on. There won't be enough employees to do the work and not enough people doing business the bank makes money on to hire the employees. Who will be effected? The rich and middle class whose money is invested in these banks.

This country would come to a standstill. People who get SSI benefits unlike SSDI and other benefits immediately spend them and they circulate in the local economy. People who are rich or middle class invest or save a lot of their money - and it does not circulate into the local economy. What little they do have that circulates in the local economy would have to be increased.

So who is hurt most if something happened to SSi? Every last citizen of the US would be negatively affected.

It won't happen. The possible outcomes are too dire. It would be the end of the US as we know it.

Will the government shutdown affect SNAP, food stamps?

School lunches, SNAP and WICSchool breakfasts and lunches funded by the federal government are not affected. The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, or WIC, could be affected. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, which used to be called the Food Stamp Program, will continue to be funded and SNAP benefits would continue to be distributed. But several smaller feeding programs will not have the money to operate.GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN AND BENEFITS: Government shutdown: What will close; will you get your Social Security check, SNAP, WIC?

Will government assistance such as welfare and food stamps be affected by goverment shutdown?

Here is what we know so far:Food stamps will be paid in January, according to a statement issued by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the federal agency that runs the food stamps program. However, if the government shutdown continues into February or March, the USDA does not have enough money to pay all food stamps benefits since the funds approved by Congress for the program fully covered payments until January. Therefore, unless Congress appropriates more money for food stamps before February, there is likely to be disruptions in food stamps payments for the 38 million people who depend on the program. For more on this, see this article - How The Government Shutdown Affects Food Stamps

If the government shutdown doesn’t end, will those living off food stamps starve?

EDIT: For anyone on food stamps, you got February food stamps today!! The government took advantage of a loophole that allowed them to fund February’s food stamps if they did it early, within 30 days after something or other. If you check your EBT cards, you’ll find February’s food stamp amount has been added. Just remember that these have to last you until March, and if the shutdown is still in effect then, you won’t be getting another allotment until the problems are resolved or other funding is found.Believe it or not, most of the people on food stamps work, so they will use their wages for food. This may put them behind on other things, like rent and utilities. For those already behind on rent, it may result in them getting evicted, making some of them homeless.Others have disability income. A few have cash assistance from welfare. Probably their rent and utility money will also have to go for food. Those with no income at all may get some assistance from food pantries, but as these rely on charitable donations, the pantries won’t be able to meet all of the demand. Soup kitchens will also have trouble keeping up with the increased need. Some charities will help as much as they can, giving grocery gift cards, holding can drives, etc.Anyone who gets too hungry can always go to a hospital emergency room and collapse from hunger there. The hospital will feed them. This isn’t what hospitals should be used for, but starvation is a life-threatening health condition.

How long can a government shut down last in America?

Until Congress passes a funding bill, and the President signs it, the part of the government that is unfunded will continue to remain so, there is no “upper limit.”Eventually, employees who are furloughed (told to stay home) and those who are forced to go to work without being paid (like air traffic controllers) will quit and find jobs that actually pay them. If it gets to that point, and our infrastructure begins to suffer, someone is going to blink.(By the way, President Trump isn’t keeping the government shut down. The majority of votes in the House and Senate are in favor of funding both the government and border security, it is Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat, who is blocking the bill to do so. It is the Schumer Shutdown.)
