Will Police Think There

What do you think of Police Officer's?

Hey SW toes

I saw a very nice policeman on Monday as I lost my handbag, and he was so sweet and helpful I took him a packet of chocolate biscuits the next day to thank him!

He typifies for me the average cop we have here in the UK as a decent guy who genuinely wants to contribute something to his community and to help and comfort people when they are distressed.

Even when I was younger (and a bit of a bastard - if truth be known!) I had to respect the cops I came into contact with as they were always professional and treated me with respect - even after chasing me and my mates all over town or arresting us!!

That is what I would consider the most important thing a cop (or anyone) can do to inspire confidence. Recognise that you are being paid to do (an often unpleasant) job and that showing a consistant and humane face to the public is the ideal that people hope for, but don't always get.

A cops attitude may be the only thing that sticks in the mind long after the problem or offence is a dim memory - and as others have pointed out; you sell more papers with bad news than good. So unless you have firsthand experience with great policemen you are going to have a skewed perception of what most of them are like.

I hope you get treated well on the streets, as from what I have observed of you - and the fact that you even care enough to ask - I guess you're the kind of copper that people are glad to run across!

Why do some police think they are above the law?

I feel i need to add some/ more details
my neighbour was in bed when the police knocked on door he got out of bed went to window ask what the prob was the police said he had called them and he knows neighbour his name is john got his dressing gown on went downstairs opened the door explaned no one had phoned and to check their facts they then said a 13 year old had phoned over domestic john has 2 sons 7and9 and his wife who is not 13! now this is when he called to his wife to come down and see the "tossers" now i must say the above events are from john i was not there so can't say if it is what happened what i will say is the walls are very thin and i did not hear any shouting or arguments during day but did hear john shout to his wife to come see this is when i played nosey neighbour and opened front door to see police shouting at john then storm in. like i say i don't really get on with him mainly because he is outspoken and i find him rude now the other point i did say SOME police

What do Americans think of their police?

Answers will vary widely depending on who answers. After all, there are hundreds of millions of Americans policed by 18,000 different policing agencies. Some will consider police officers true blue heroes. Others will consider them corrupt bullies who break the law more than the criminals.By and large, based upon national surveys, the American people have a relatively high confidence in their police forces. This is pretty amazing considering the job of a police officer…To enforce laws. Anyone charged with enforcing rules will be disliked by a certain segment of the population that is subject to those rules. For example, the vice principal in charge of discipline at a school will likely have many detractors. A teacher that takes a cell phone away for chronic use in class will be considered a “bully” by some. That’s the nature of the position. When you have a job that requires the use of force and locking people up in jail, there will be those who (sometimes rightly but mostly not) decry how awful the police are.A recent Gallup poll shows police officers rate #6 out of 22 professions ranked by “honesty/ethical standards” by the public. They are just behind #5 pharmacists, but ahead of judges who ranked #8. Nurses came in first place, followed by military officers.

What do police think when they see a thin blue sticker?

The thin blue line or thin red line or dare to keep kids off drugs or the supporter stickers are just way to help the COPS PROFILE people. You are more likely as many cops on here have POINTED OUT to be profiled and pulled over (targeted) then not displaying these signs of support since criminals try to use them to prevent being pulled over. Why does it matter if there is a sticker at all be GLAD that someone is trying to show support for a cause the likely hood that the sticker is to get OFF is less then the likely hood there is a criminal act associated to it. But it is enough for just cause to target that car.I need to put 3000.00 in repairs in to my truck, (I will get that done) Body work is on the bottom of the list but someone driving around a beat up vehicle is more likely to be doing something wrong according to a COP I talk with daily. Having those stickers adds to the pull over points, speed, signals, weaving, and other factors add to the pull over targeting until you get painted with a bullseye and pulled over for “Investigation” then its like throwing a grenade at a platoon of soldiers to see how many of those points you can make stick for a good take down. Now If I have 10,000 I would just buy a new truck 30,000 would cover a complete replacement but my credit is not that good so I am a TARGET every day by COPS that I pass or get followed by.

What do police officers think of fire fighters?

Worthless hose draggers. Wannabe first responders who wish they were cops. Fire fighters are those who tried and failed to get into police academy.Okay, now that Ive got the standard jokes out of the way. Respect to the hose draggers, and lots of it. I’ve faced men who wanted to harm me, armed and unarmed. I’ve fought drug fueled maniacs. I’ve gone into homes knowing the guy I’m looking for is hiding inside, and not knowing if they were armed, or how dangerous. I believe Ive shown I have some courage.Running into a fully engulfed building? No thank you, my balls aren’t that big. Perhaps they are a bit unhinged, I can’t say. That’s not normal behaviour, is it?I greatly appreciate their help on a traffic accident. I love having their EMTs when I come across someone over dosing, or not breathing. There can be some rivalry, and the banter can get rough, but think of it like two brothers who rag on each other. Id do anything for them, and I wager they'd do the same for me. We work together, and our skills sets get the job done together. As long as the police make the scene safe first! *wink*Now for two of theirs. Don’t park the damn patrol car in front of the fire hydrant, they will smash the windows and run the hose through the car. Don't park in front of the burning building if you don’t want the Engine to push it out of the way.

What do police officers think of private security guards?

I have issues with private security guards. Let me explain a couple of those here. They are not well trained with the firearms. Some of them take their responsibilities way too lightly. At 9 in the morning, it’s our routine to check school and bank security duty and in the evening, we take another round to check guards at malls, gas stations, and residences. At first glance, I would observe if a guard is fine at his work or not. I do appreciate them immensely, especially those that are ex-military.I occasionally engage with a few of them to check if their firearms are actually functioning and most of the time, they are not. I honestly do not understand why a majority of them carry 12 gauge pump action with pistol grip. Of course it’s a great scatter gun but I’ve seen incidents where pellets have induced fatal injuries to bystanders. It has become a go-to gun for security guards around here. Either that or a fully automatic assault rifle without shoulder stock. If you can’t even take proper aim, how the hell is it useful?Years ago, I witnessed an incident where a security guard accidentally discharged his weapon, resulting in a minor’s casualty. People barged in to that establishment and destroyed the interior completely.I do wake security guards up at night and tell them to stay awake and do their job more cautiously. Though as soon I’m gone, they go back for their ‘beauty sleep’. They would listen to your lecture and nod but it all goes away the moment you leave.Major blame goes to the recruiting companies. They would just hire anyone for pennies on the dollar, arm them with cheapest and most unreliable weapons and blue them with a uniform. That’s not helpful. This does not go for everyone. Of course there are people in this line of work who do their job properly and are capable of proving themselves useful in an unfortunate incident. That is great; that serves the purpose of the job.I know their paycheck is less than mine and their hours are as daunting. I appreciate the fact that this job is putting food on the table for their families. I do respect them and prioritize them whenever they come to me for assistance. But some of them can do better. This is required by the job description.A guard should be vigilant and capable.

Police are they trustworthy?

i live in the city in NJ

i know some terrible stuff some of those cops have done to people. and absolutely NOT

Never trust a cop

there are more good cops then bad but how do you know which one to trust? To be safe, dont trust any

I was on the Atlantic City Expressway. I am a good driver. Never get stopped and i never had any tickets, been driving for over 20 years. Cop pulls me over when he saw my husband peeing on the side of the road. He cuts me a break with a Peeing ticket. I got a peeing ticket even tho it was my husband peeing because i was driving. I went to court to fight it and the cop lied in court and said i was speeding. after the case was over and we got out in the hall he laughed at me because he knew he lied. I was really mad about that state trooper lieing in court like that.
