If I tell my therapist that I do drugs, will she have to tell my parents?

It depends how old you are and what kind of contract you have with your therapist. For instance, if you're under the age of 18, your therapist can tell your parents about it, but that all depends what boundries your therapist and your parents set up. If you're under the age of 18, your therapist will talk to your parents about what things need to be kept between you and your therapist. But unfortunately, while I don't agree 100%, your parents can revoke any confidentiality between you and your therapist and ask what you have been up to.

If you are over 18 and doing drugs, they will not exactly contact authorities but if they notice you're doing it to harm yourself deliberately, they are lawfully responsible to contact authorities.

The good news is, once you hit 18, anything you can tell with your therapist (while keeping the authority info I have just stated) will be kept between you and your therapist, however anything before 18, your parents can be notified of.

Will my doctor tell my parents about anorexia?

yes the doctors will tell your parents about it, but since you are over 14 years old they may not. if they do , it is cause it is such a serious disorder, that takes lifes every day, and you will be fighting it for the rest of your life. They may tell them, just so they can keep an eye on you, and make sure you are eating something, and keeping it down. You really need to eat, and keep it down. Your heart and all organ will shrink in time, and you will find that you can not stand to even smell or look at food, then you will just end up dieing, not a good way to go. And it is something that if you do have you will have for rest of your life, and be fighting a battle against it. I know i have a younger sister that is anorexia. She would love to talk to u about this, and tell you off the hell you have put yourself into, so get some help, and 99 pounds is pretty light for 5 feet.

What if I tell my teacher my parents are abusive? Will she call the cops?

Yes absolutely .. Teachers are legally required to report all suspected cases of abuse to the state division of child protective services … please don't let that discourage you , they will find a safe responsible relative, friend , or Foster Parent to take care of you temporarily while they work with your parents and help them learn to become better parents by having them attend parenting classes or counseling and they will help address any financial or housing problems and provide services to help your family . They are there to help families and to help keep you safe . I've worked in pediatrics for many years and Ive seen the state child protective workers get families signed up for insurance and provide them with furniture or housing or electrical assistance and reunited many families . Their main goal is ALWAYS to reunite the family . It would only be temporary while your parents get the help they need and learn how to deal with their anger or frustration without being abusive. Please reach out for help if you are being abused .

Will my therapist have to tell my parents if I'm pregnant?

I go to a therapist for an anxiety disorder and also slight depression. I recently found that I am pregnant. I know that there are things that she has to tell my parents by law but there are also things that she can not tell my parents. If I tell her that I am pregnant, will she tell my parents?

If I tell a doctor that I self-harm, can he/she tell my parents? (I'm 14)?

Where I work, the department of pediatric, the patients (actually “adolescent clinic”) are seen without parents in the examine room. The nurse reminds the patients that anything that is said in there stays in there - that is one way to get to the bottom of a lot of things (is to be completely honest with the doctors without being afraid). This prevents a lot of unwanted pregnancies and STD.And of course, if the patients self-harm, they will get help.Tell your mother / father when you go to the visit that you want to be alone with the doctor. And what you do is tell the doctor that you want this kept from your parents. They will honor your request.By law, they have to tell someone if you say that you’re going to kill yourself, or hurt someone. But self harm (as undesireable as it is), isn’t the same thing as hanging yourself today (if you know what I mean.)Am a nurse.Best wishes.

Will a school counselor tell your parents if you self harm?

A few thoughts….In the United States, school counselors are required by law as Mandated Reporters to notify appropriate people, or the counselor is breaking the law and can becomes personally liable for your actions.I have dealt with this many times working with emotionally disturbed students. My recommendation is to always talk with your parents/guardians about what is happening. If you feel you cannot do that alone, then it is appropriate for the school counselor to be there with you and your parents. As soon as you disclose you have been harming yourself, or thinking about harming yourself, the counselor then is required to take action and file a report, notify his principal, and then your parents.Don’t keep your self injurious behavior to yourself. You need to talk with an appropriate adult for your own safety.

Can I tell my teacher I'm self harming if I also tell her my parents know and that I'm getting help?

You can tell her regardless. If it's true that your parents know and you're getting help, she'll be supportive. If it isn't, be prepared as US law (assuming you're here in the States) requires her to report the information to the person in your school district who handles cases of at-risk students. If your parents don't already know, they will.Ironically, that also makes her a good person to tell. She can act as the intermediary between you and the system designed to help you. Please talk to her.
