Will Something In Year 9/eighth Grade Effect College If You Have Done Something Wrong

Is high school as hard as they say? I'm going to the 9th grade and I'm very nervous.

No. It isn't. I promise. My freshman year of high school was even easier than 8th grade. There’s an adjustment curve, and schools realize that. Eighth grade teachers love to tell students that they've got to be prepared, because your habits now won't fly in high school, no sir, it's a different ballgame in there— sound familiar? It's just hype. They said the same things before you went to middle school, remember? On top of that, you'll actually be able to choose some of your classes for the first time. That means that you can decide how you want your high school to go. If you want to take non-honors courses and extracurriculars throughout, because that's the best choice for you, than your high school experience most likely won't be that difficult. If you want to take all AP classes, it will be a good deal harder. But however you design your experience, it won't be that bad. Teachers in high school actually like their subjects and— gasp!— even their students. Whatever you're having difficulty with, you'll have help available. And lastly, it won't be eighth grade you dealing with problems as they arise. It'll be ninth grade you, and then tenth grade you, and then eleventh grade you. You'll get smarter and more mature and more capable as you go, and that will be the person tackling all the issues that come your way— a better and stronger and more equipped version of you, who will be able to handle it all.And anyway, if I can remember correctly, I spent a good deal of freshman year playing trashketball, and I still turned out all right. You'll do fine, kid. Relax and have some fun with it.

Will referrals affect my chances of getting into a good college?

I'm a senior in high school and from 9-11th I've gotten referrals mostly for skipping and once for cheating on a AR test in 9th grade I'd say I've gotten maybe 8 or 9 referrals in all my high school career I do get decent grades my gpa is a 3.4 right now , I wanna get into fashion design or film making so will these referrals affect my chances into getting into a good college? I live in Florida.

Does 8th grade matter if your trying to get into a good college?

It doesn't matter for getting into a good college directly but it will affect getting into AP classes and taking those will matter. It'll also be hard to get good grades in 9th, 10th and 11th if you fall behind now.

Why don't colleges care about middle school grades?

Basically middle school grades don't count but are simply encouraging sources to boost your performance and make you do better the next time. However, the grades hold no importance yet is considered to be the most reliable performance report.Grades don't determine intelligence but test the obedience. So, getting unsatisfactory grades might have fretted you. But you shouldn't care. Grades are spurious evaluation of performance.I got an A on the third quiz in American history, an A, dammit. Last time I got a Bup from a Cand my father said,"if you can get a Cyou can get a B,if you can get a Byou can get an A."-I got an Aand my father said,"grades don't mean anything.Grades may discourage you to be inactive and rebel. Some students excel under pressure, and there are those who crumble beneath it. It’s easy to praise the students who continuously work hard, but let’s try not to berate those who find it difficult to focus. The Current Perception of the importance of grades in academics dumbfounds me, because I think that by caring too much about grades, most students are missing the point of education. If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time. - Steve JobsIn short, don't let grades decide who you are. A single piece of paper will not decide your future, dude. Cheers !!!Hope it helps. Upvote if satisfied.

Graduating high school early?

Fill up your spares with your classes from the next year, or even take summer school, though taking classes you never had before is expensive.
You could probably manage to graduate a year or two early, but it'll be pretty difficult and expensive.
Well not sure how many classes you'll be having a day or how your schedules works now, but I can explain this with mine.. Not sure if this can for sure work but if you plan it out like this you'll either graduate early or have very little classes in Gr12..
In my school we have 5 classes a semester, so 10 a year. But since you need at least 32 [I believe, it always goes up] credits to graduate, you have to have the 5[here its 5..] main courses, 3 extra classes, so in total 8 credits a year. With 8 credits, here that leaves 2 spares.. you're going into gr10? Then fill those 2 extra spaces with 2 gr11 classes. Then if you take a morning and afternoon summer school class, which would be 2 more grade 11 courses, you'll already be done 4. When you're in grade 11, you can knock off those 4 and put in your other 4 Gr11 classes that you'll need, and get 6 of your Gr12 classes. I believe that leaves you with only 2 more classes.. Which you COULD take in summer school I THINK. I'm not sure how Gr12 courses and graduating work out with summer school, but if you'd fill up your schedule completely and take summer school you could probably finish a year early..

If you know a second language it's possible to earn 4 extra credits by taking an oral/written exam.
Also, some schools offer online courses.

Though, it IS possible to take one of those faster High School Educations. My friend is pregnant and in Gr10, but she went to some sort of faster education to get her high school diploma. Ask a counselor.

If I'm 14 years old, which grade should I be?

Well in my state in Missouri to go kindergarten you need to be age 5 before August 1st.And school start at Mid August. And ends in Late in late May.So that means if your born on August 1st or after you Will have to wait until the following year to start kindergarten. So if your born in early August you will start kindergarten at age 6 instead of 5.So that means there two ages per each grade so the rule is +5 And +6.Okay now let start.Elementary schoolKindergarten age 5 and age 6.1st grade +5 And +6 = age 6 and age 7.2nd grade +5 And +6 = age 7 and age 8.3rd grade +5 And +6 = age 8 and age 9.4th grade +5 And +6 = age 9 and age 10.5th grade +5 And +6 = age 10 and age 11.6th grade +5 And +6 = age 11 and age 12.Middle school7th grade +5 And +6 = age 12 and age 13.8th grade +5 And +6 = age 13 and age 14.High schoolFreshman/9th grade +5 And +6 = age 14 and age 15.Sophomore/10th grade +5 And +6 = age 15 and age 16.Junior/11th grade +5 And +6 = age 16 and age 17.Senior/12th grade +5 And +6 = age 17 and age 18.CollegeFreshman age 18 and 19Sophomore age 19 and age 20Junior age 20 and age 21Senior age 21 and age 22So there are 2 ages per each grade. So if you hear a grade ( 8th grade) just add +5 And +6 And that the age of the students. So 8th grader are 13 and 14.Also if there birthday is early August they will remain at the older end of that age range e.g 8th grade age 14. While if there birthday is Late May-July they will remain the younger end of that age range e.g 8th grade age 13. If there birthday is Mid August-Late May they are in the middle of the age range. So they will be both age range. E.g 8th grade age 13 and 14.Remember not every state has the Same cut off it varies by state to state. So 14 year old are 8th grade or 9th grade.

Getting bad grades in 8th grade?

You and me are quite alike! I'm the shy type also :) In 6th and 7th grade all I got was As and Bs. When I reached 8th Grade the lowest mark on my final report card was a 63%.

1) Motivation:
- with me if I have homework, the thought of doing the whole thing is just tiring so I do half of my homework instead. Try to make each of your subjects interesting. Maybe listen to music or say to yourself you can go on the computer if half or all your homework is done :)

2) Summer School:
- in grade eight I got a summer school referral, but I didn't go. I believe if you believe you will focus and do your homework you really don't need summer school. Besides summer school is just squeezing a year long lesson into one month.
*I went to summer school though but it was for one free high school credit and 3 free community hours :)

3) Admission To High School:
- I thought the exact same thing when I was accepted to a high school I liked. But actually, it doesn't affect your high school admission at all! Don't worry :)

4) Affects:
- high schools do look at your Grade 8 transcript to get background info on you, but they'll let you go into Applied or Academic. Universities look at your Grade 11 & 12 marks.
*Start working hard in Grade 9, by Grade 11 you'll have a strong work ethic and then your marks will be steady and great! :)

5) Extra :)
- Don't worry at all! I was exactly like you (I'm serious). Going into my grade 9 math exam I had a 42%, I passed with a 50%. Now I'm in Grade 10 and I finished math with a 73%, its not great but its good and its the result of doing homework and paying attention.

- I find that if you're in a class with your close friends you won't learn much! (Like me in Grade 9)
- Ask questions and show the teacher you're serious.
- Do your homework, that's it :)
- For now, stay focused and have fun -- be balanced ;)
- I'll be praying for you :) Good Luck!
