Will The American People Understand That Obama-care Is Not Intended To Benefit The American People

When will the U.S. government repeal & replace Obamacare? It obviously is not working.

For two reasons:One. American rightwingers have no clue whatsoever at all how to design a health insurance system - let alone one that offers universal coverage at affordable prices - because to do it, you have to have the state either regulate healthcare providers (socialism!), provide health insurance itself and regulate (more socialism!), or simply provide all the health, full stop (actual socialism).Look, don’t be surprised when American rightwingers can’t actually design a health insurance system according to their principles; their principles make them unable to do it.Two. Funny thing about Obamacare ‘obviously is not working’ - if you were right, then surely elected Republicans in Washington (not some vague ‘the U.S. government’) wouldn’t have a problem following through on a promise they’ve made every waking hour of every day since 2009?If you were right, then elected Republicans in Washington would be getting support from the American people to get rid of this awful program - but, strangely, the Affordable Care Act is getting more and more popular now that people realise its benefits can be taken away.If you were right, the American people and elected Republicans in Washington should welcome a return to the healthcare system America had before 2010 - and yet, no one seems to want that.Listen, the reason why you’re confused is because your assumptions are wrong. Obamacare is working as designed, and its benefits are pretty popular in and of themselves - and the whole project is becoming more popular as people realise that there are no Republican solutions that would work better. Finally, I share your frustration with Obamacare. The only real option for further reform is to allow every American to access the Medicare that we already pay for with our taxes and create a single-payer national health insurance system.

Why are so many people against Obamacare?

I would like to understand why so many people are against Obamacare. I am guessing Obamacare could help sick people or other people with no ways to pay for health cares. So why do they wanna delay it for a year? Why not give the opportunity to everyone to have better care.
This is not a pro Obama question, I just want to understand. I'm from Europe

Why do people who rely on Obamacare want to repeal it?

The irony is that most people don’t (it’s more popular than it’s ever been). The reason that many individuals thought “Obamacare” was bad was twofold:The GOP spent tens of millions of dollars telling you it was the worst thing since unsliced bread, andObama’s name was attached to it and that immediately makes millions of people hate it because, well, those people hate(d) Obama. As a matter of fact - many people thought the ACA and Obamacare were different things. That’s how propaganda works. Are there legitimately things wrong with the ACA? Totally. Have some people’s premiums gone up? Yep (but they were going to go up anyway). Have some people hated the “fine” that came with it if they didn’t get insurance? Totally, but mostly because they are healthy and don’t want to pay for anything until they get sick. It was never meant to be the full, final, perfect solution. It was meant as an incremental step forward and it absolutely had to be incremental given the stonewalling of the GOP, but also because moving toward single payer disrupts a massive industry and absolutely should be done incrementally. The sad part of all of this is that it is blatantly evident that the GOP never had anything even remotely close to figured out about an actual system that could be comparable (dare I say they never even really put any work into coming up with something better - they spent that energy coming up with anti-ACA ads instead?). They have literally had 7 years to figure it out and you’ve seen what they’ve had to offer - not only basically nothing, but even worse - laws that would literally kill tens of thousands of Americans a year and bankrupt countless more. They ran ads about how terrible the ACA was, they attached it to “democrats” using partisan negative rhetoric, and people bought that they would have something “better” - and here we are. If it weren’t such horrific topic with real people’s lives on the line (both literally and figuratively), it would be satisfying to see that when they opened their kimono, there was really nothing there.p.s. I will never understand people that voted for someone who said he was going to take it away…and then are surprised that they are trying to take it away.

Will Obamacare end 2016?

Almost certainly not. For one thing, we don't know how the 2016 elections will go. Democrats may win the Presidency and/or control of one, or both, houses of Congress. If they do then they will be able to block substantial action on Obamacare. Even if they don't control either the White House or Congress they will likely still hold enough seats in the Senate to block legislation. But the other problem is that by 2016, Americans will have had Obamacare for several years. The cataclysmic problems that Republicans predicted are unlikely to materialize and the American people will have gotten used to the benefits which they get through Obamacare. So any Republican attempts to do away with it would have to find a way of preserving a substantial portion of the benefits which Americans enjoy under the program, or of replacing them with something comparable or better.

Obamacare meant well but it's a disaster. Now what?

I personally have been negatively affected by Obamacare. They had to downgrade all of our plans because my company was getting taxed because we had "Cadillac" plans. Employers shouldn't be punished for providing good coverage.

Who do you think will win the 2012 American presidential election? (and why)?

In my opinion i hope Romney wins.
here's why: -I think America is very separated as a nation right now
-whether you're pro gay marriage, pro life, or pro choice i really don't think this is relatively important in the next election because i personally believe we should be working to making America become debt free and focused on fixing the economy...plus no social issue is going to be passed in congress with it being so mixed opinionated.
-If you like obamacare or not...i believe it should definitely should have not been passed, at least not at this time, with it adding tons of more debt in a economic crisis....plus Obama clearly lied to the American people saying it would not be a tax-when that was the only reason it was in fact deemed constitutional.
-I want a president that will at least try to fix the damn economy...i mean all obama has done is add more and more and more debt to America....Now is not the time to try to advocate a healthcare law that half the population is against and adds debt.
-In my opinion Obama is a great talker, but to me i feel like all he does is straight up lie to the American people and deceives them ... I feel like he'll say anything to get re-elected (not that Romney won't either)
-Overall, American needs a president that is focused on fixing the economy. We don't need to be debating social issues or putting in a new healthcare system, rather coming up with new solutions to fixing the economy. Obama has failed in every aspect in fixing the economy...As i see it, Romney is a successful businessman and therefore will at least have a better shot at fixing the economy.

I can wait 8 years for Universal Health Care. Can America wait that long?

Yes it can, after all, the USA is the only developed country in the world not to have a comprehensive healthcare system as it is. If you are asking, should America wait that long, then in my opinion I would say no.

I live in the UK and work in the NHS (our universal health care system). It has problems, but not as many as the US healthcare system has. Despite spending much more per head of population than other developed countries, the US has worse health outcomes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care... Life expectancy and infant mortality figures in the US are worse than in other developed countries, despite more money being spent (and wasted) in the USA.

In the UK there are waiting lists for routine problems. Problems that can not wait are treated as emergencies. Also, in the UK, people can also have private health care. If you have suspected cancer for example, you are see within two weeks, or if appropriate, the same day.

I can understand Americans being proud of living in the richest and most powerful country in the world. What I can not understand is why Amercians settle for a more expensive healthcare system where babies die that would have a better chance of life if born in another developed country.

Beware loosing your job in the USA if you get healthcare through that. http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2... Or retiring if you have become ill when covered by work based insurance. Not a problem in the UK.
