Considered “The Father of Europe.”Vlad Tepes Dracula, AKA Vlad the Impaler.Note many of those men were kind and good rulers, and many were cruel, sadistic, terrible people. Modern examples (i.e., from the 20th century) could be Hitler, Pol Pot, and Elizabeth II.As for Presidents, we might have:George Washington, our first President.Abraham Lincoln, freed the slaves and brought the Union back together.Franklin Roosevelt, created modern social programs and got us out of the Great Depression.James Buchanan, gave us the Civil War.George W. Bush, got us into two unwinnable and unpaid-for wars and allowed Congress to write policies that brought us to the brink of a second Great Depression.The jury’s still out, obviously, on Donald Trump. At the rate he’s going, people are going to remember him for a long, long time, for better or worse.

The elder of those daughters was Margaret who married King James of Scotland. Her granddaughter was Mary, Queen of Scots. Mary’s son was James I and VI. That is how he was able to claim that he was the legal heir to Elizabeth I - the first in the line of succession from the time of the execution of his mother, who was Elizabeth’s heiress presumptive from Elizabeth’s accession until her execution.James I and VI is the father of Charles I who himself was the father of many children. They were removed from the line of succession to the throne of Britain by the Act of Settlement as they were all either Roman Catholic or married to Roman Catholics but their descendants still are around. The line of succession to the British throne was settled on James I and VI’s granddaughter, Sophia of Hanover, as she was the first protestant married to a protestant in the line of succession in 1701, and so was the one who was the most suitable given the religious attitudes of the day.Charles II had numerous mistresses and many illegitimate children - from whom most of the English aristocracy can claim descent, including the late Diana, Princess of Wales, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and Sarah, Duchess of York.There may very well be lines of descent I have missed as I have only been looking at the obvious ones.
