Will The Pain In My Back Molar Go Away I Have Braces

Got braces today-absolutly can't chew, not because of the pain...?

I had to go through that too. Here's the solution but it's gonna take a while to get used to. Chew a little slower and move your upper teeth a little more forward so that the brackets on the bottom are touching the back of your front teeth. And if you chew slow enough, everytime you feel your upperteeth hit the bottom brackets, just move it forward a little and continue chewing. It will feel weird, but before you know it, it will just be a habit. And your chewing speed will go back to normal lol. For now, to get used to it and since your mouth is probably irritated, eat less hard foods. The more you have to chew something the more likely chance of ruining your braces.

They aren't too high up. It's just something you have to get used to. I've had braces for a year and a half now and I still remember the first few weeks I had them.

Why does my back molar hurts (braces)!?

That is exactly how I felt too! I had my braces put on the day of the consultation and no bands. Then about two months later I got spacers and they finally put the molar bands. I felt the same way but your just not used to it. Give it some time the glue hasn't like fully hardened I guess you could say but it still hardens a little bit. Just don't bite down very hard and chew very slowly because if the band comes out you have to get them re glued and that sucks! You have only had braces for a week and the pain will clear out immediately! I could not use pain killers because they don't work on me at all so I had to bare the pain. Just take some pain killers and a couple more days and you won't feel anything!

Before I got braces, I had these installed between my molar teeth. What do they call them? How many days does it usually take for the pain to go away?

They are called seperators. The main function of those elastic thingy is to create some space around your 1 st molar tooth to put a stainless steel band around your first molars. Since initially the tooth are in close contact the molar band wont go inside, so these seperators disengage the contact points. Usually it takes 1 week to create sufficient space before your orthodontist starts molar banding. It will hurt for this period of time.Molar band

I just got my braces tightened, and my back molar hurts?

I was expecting the tooth pain on my k-9ines and front teeth and stuff, but my very back molar started to hurt 2 days after tightening, is this normal (I brush my teeth 3 times a day)

Is the pain caused by braces unbearable? My front teeth is overlapping over the other.

I got braces in March, so I have had them for a little under 4 months now. From what my orthodontists told me, the pain level for each person varies. Honestly the first ten days I was in a lot of pain. My teeth hurt, my jaw hurt, the inside of my cheeks were totally cut up, and I was getting headaches. I was pretty miserable - it reminded me of when I had my wisdom teeth taken out, it was that level pain. But, the pain does really go away. I have gone back to the orthodontist twice now to tighten, and it was nothing like that first time - I barely noticed the pain. I don’t feel pain on a daily basis anymore at all, either. I’m glad I got braces and made it through that first tough part.

What hurts more: when braces are installed or when they are tightened?

Having traditional braces put on does not hurt, maybe a little cold sensitivity from water rinsing. Your teeth will become sore a few hours after they are put on. Ibuprofen usually does the trick. It’s mostly just a dull ache, and not sharp pain. It will go away after a few days, just stick to soft foods at first. In addition, your cheek tissue by your back molars may get raw at first until they form “calluses “ to withstand the protruding metal on your bands and wires which can be relieved by placing ortho wax over the sharp edges. You’ll feel the same soreness in your teeth after every appt especially if they upgrade your arch wires to a higher gauge. Soreness will also occur when elastics are started, power chains, growth appliances such as headgear, or RPEs (Rapid Palatal Expander) are placed. If your treatment involves these, your orthodontist and/or assistants will give you all information regarding what to expect and why.Hope this helps! Braces are worth it, for a beautiful smile for life!!L.M., RDA

What do they do when/before you go to get braces?

Lol i'm 14 and i recently got braces Feb 2nd. And it's different for everyones teeth. The first 2 meetings, they will tell you all about what your braces will be like, how you're getting them put on, and they will take X-rays. The next one, they put spacers in between my teeth, to space out my teeth, and they mgiht not do those for you but if they do, let me warn you it takes about 3 days for it to stop hurting, mine hurt REALLY bad and all you can really eat in the beginning is milkshakes and stuff like that. Right when you get them on, it doesn;t hurt, it just feels really tight like your teeth are being spaced out lol, and it will gradually get more painful. If you take 600 milligrams of like, Advil or Motrin or Tylenol you should be okay. It didn't help me, but maybe it will help you. The meeting after that, they took out THOSE spacers and put new ones in - yay more pain :D Then the meeting after that came the actual braces. It was really.. Awkward putting them on. When you get done, they tell you to go look at them, and you WILL think you look ugly at first, and you'll be sad and stuff, but the outcome will be alot better - straight teeth. I also got something that made it alot more uncomfortable, called a Rapid Palate Expander (RPE) to expand my jaw because they need to make room to move teeth over - Well I'm not going to go into detail, but most people don't need that, but if you do, its awkward and food WILL get stuck in there. I;m just going to tell you plain and simple, braces hurt for the first few days, like really bad, and it will go away. Then usually you get check ups and get them tightened, and it hurts. And you get colored rubberbands and stuff and it looks pretty cool :] Gotta brush every day 3 times a day though :[. Also, you aren't supposed to eat anything chewy, no popcorn, no gum - but I do anyway. You CAN'T chew bubblegum, but you can chew breath freshener gum, like winterfresh, trident, ice breakers, Dentyne, and no bubblegum from machines. That will get stuck really easily. Nothing like Now and Laters, or really chewy things. The chewiest thing you can probably eat is Jellybeans. No jawbreakers or anything of that nature. I eat popcorn anyway because it's my favorite food.

Well, i'm kind of rambling, so have fun with your new braces XD

I have braces on and when I bite down my back teeth hurt on my right side. Why????????

When I got my braces I had two baby teeth still in. I lost the one on my left side first, and about 7 days later, I lost the one on my right side. A few days after Iost my last baby tooth, it hurt whenever I bit down and my teeth touched on that side. Sometimes, it even hurt my front teeth. I think I noticed my back teeth shifting to make room for the tooth, but they aren't lined up anymore because of it! Is this something to worry about??????? I am going to the ortho in 9 days for a tightening and will he notice a problem??? P.S When I wake up in the morning it doesn't hurt, but as the day goes on and I bite down more it hurts.

Can rubber bands (used with braces) pull teeth out?

no, they cannot.

The stress of the bands is moving your teeth but also pulling them in a direction they aren't used to.

Talk to your orthodontist or dentist about this.

I've had my braces for a while, and one single tooth started hurting. What happened?

There could be a number of reasons for your tooth hurting. You may have a cavity, there might be something stuck or it could be the braces. It’s best to get your orthodontist to check it out. You may need to have an x-ray to check if it’s something more serious. Sometimes our teeth hurt just because of sensitivity, don’t stress too much until you’ve seen your orthodontist.
