Will The Recovery Disk For Hp Dv6000 Work With Hp G60

Where can I download an HP recovery disc?

You might not be able to do that because most of the OEMs (like HP are douchy and want to charge you for a disk). You can try to get one by claiming that they are supposed to provide media for the OS (they provide it on the HDD which is BS). They are obligated to provide one and, if you are crabby enough, you can probably get them to send you one for free. But don’t bother. The good news is that you don’t need one. You can download both Windows 7 and Windows 10 installation media from Microsoft and get the drivers from HP Technical Support, Help, and Troubleshooting for your machine. This is much better because that image will not be loaded with OEM crapware and bloatware and McAfee AV (one of the worst AVs around).

Is it possible to boot an HP machine with a Dell recovery disk?

You can not use another manufacturer's recovery disk, as it ties into the manufacturer specific hardware and drivers. You can however use a Microsoft recovery disk on either one.If what crashed was your hard drive, a recovery disk isn't going to work anyway, you will need a new drive. Once replaced if you still have your product key you can install Windows on it and go from there or buy a new copy of windows.. If you are trying to recover data from it, take it to a tech to do data recovery or you can try installing the drive as a secondary one on either desktop and attempt data recovery yourself

Can you use a Dell restore disk for an HP computer?

I TRIED EVERYTHING to fix my HP and for some reason it tends to shutdown by itself when installing updates from Microsoft. It can't be a virus becuase I cleaned the drive with every software but Hoover vacuums. I even re installed the BIOS and Windows and nothing. I thought It could be a compatibility issues with the restore disk but they are the originals. So now its like F** it I'm want to try my dell disk in it and see whats happens. What do you guys think?

HP Laptop USB failures?

One of the ports itself is physically damaged and causing a short whenever something is plugged in... namely the port that you damaged when you tripped on the cord plugged into it. The port may even be actively causing a short that only gets power when you plug something into ANY of the ports, since all the ports are actually connected across the same USB hub within the laptop.

At the very least, the laptop would have to be disassembled and the ports examined... but there is a good chance that you won't ever be able to fix this unit... just imagine if there was a short that was created when you plugged something into the known bad port, which blew out a capacitor or resistor... and THAT is what killed all your ports. It's not only possible, it is probable. You may have to either purchase a PCMCIA USB card...

Or you may have to use the laptop without USB... or you may have to replace the laptop. Obviously, the PCMCIA card is the cheapest solution... as taking the laptop to a shop to have them take it apart and check will cost you at least their diagnostic fee... which will probably cost more than the $16.98 you would spend on that card.

Can I install Mac OS X on my HP laptop?

A lot of the answerers before me brought up some interesting things, however they did not fully answer the question. The answer is YES, it is possible to install Mac OS X on virtually any machine that is powerful enough and compatible enough. There are two methods:The easy and questionably legal way:This method involves running OS X in a virtual environment rather than installing the OS directly onto the machine. You need specifically VMware Workstation and a hack to get it to work. I cannot provide links on where to get these files, but a quick search on some sites will lead you to a file that can download the virtual hard disk file and the hack for VMware Workstation. This method is essentially effortless, and because it involves downloading and patching software, is thus extremely questionably legal and not as much recommended. The plus side is you can run OS X inside of Windows, so you won't have to reboot or mess with installations as that's already done for you. The downside is that if your machine is old or slow, you'll have a pretty bad experience of virtualizing the OS.The hard and somewhat questionably legal way:This method involves already owning a Mac (or having admin access to one). Download the latest OS X installation app from the App Store and download Tonymacx86's tools for creating the USB flashdrive. Make sure it's at least 8 GB in size, they sell for cheap at Fry's and Micro Center. Follow the onscreen instructions and plug it into your machine's USB port and set its boot priority to USB first. Follow the installation guide closely and hope that it works. If that doesn't work the first time, look up your machine's specific model on Tonymacx86's forums and see if anyone else has similar issues. Since there are many PC laptops in existence (HP is not the only manufacturer either!), it is impossible to give a one-size-fits-all solution. I suggest running the installation in verbose mode and having the logs open at the same time while installing. This will at least give you access to see what's going on under the hood of the installation. The easiest and most legal way (and the priciest):Purchase a MacBook. It's a great machine, and you can run literally any operating system on there. You can look up guides on how to even triple-boot Linux, OS X and Windows using BootCamp.
