Will These Names Work On A Guy

How do Japanese surnames work?

Think of how American surnames (family names) were handled 100 or 125 years ago. That's pretty much how J surnames are handled today. Two people meet, decide to marry, the wife takes the husband’s surname, and all children from this marriage also take that surname. A few entertainers and writers go by names other than their legal surnames, but there's no rhyme or reason to those statistical outliers.Divorce? Case by case, but most wives revert to their maiden names while children keep the father’s name. Remarried? The wife takes the new husband’s name and children do as their guardian decides. In over 99% of J households, all members of a nuclear family have the same family name. The obvious exceptions would be when the wife’s parents live with a married couple.Major difference with America:Sometimes a wife’s parents legally adopt their new son-in-law, making him their legal son and heir in addition to their biological daughter’s husband. In this case, the husband takes his wife’s family name, the wife and her parents stay unchanged after the wedding. Essentially, the adopted son’s previous family name disappears- this is all decided well before the first grandchild is born (and normally before it is even conceived). Japanese do this for continuity of the wife’s family name, and yes, it makes for a huge mess on those rare cases when the couple are infertile or when the father sires a child out of wedlock.Final note: Japanese surnames come first, before given names, in Japan. I write my name “Wright Steve” to help Japanese understand which name is which. When you see a J name in western order (family name last), the J individual has tried to accommodate a western audience.

What does it mean when a guy says your name a lot?

He say's your name because its a label the beholder needs to protect and give good meaning to. He say's it alot to keep you around. He seeks to use said trait about you to shape you to something of his favor and as a medium to invest in you. Whatever trait it is, it keeps him attached. Control can be used for altruistic or exploitative purposes. (what a monster if he does it to exploit. Since this isn't a feminist forum, something does not mean vengeful and harmful). Think of it as more like a teacher/learner relationship. You are lost in what he is trying to show you, and he has all of the directions to get you there.  Let him show you what he wants; it will be largely rewarding if you follow his lead.

Do you like the name Randy, Randi, more for a girl or guy!?

I want twin and I want to name them Randy and Rachael. but if I just have one kid in the future I want to name it Randy but do you think it is cute for a girl if it is spelled Randi?

What do you think of the name Loren?

I'm on the fence about this one.

While Lauren is obviously a no-no, Loren does have the more masculine letter -o and the brisk spelling helps his case. Plus, popular designer Ralph Lauren is obviously male (although Lauren is is last name). Another positive is that Lauren's popularity for girls seems to be waning -- while she is still a solid name firmly in the top 50 (and I predict she will be there for a good while), she's out of the top 10 and 20 spots she occupied in the '80s and '90s. This is good for parents who are looking to consider Loren for their sons.

But one could also argue that Lauren is, after all Lauren -- that's what I tell everyone who misspells a name on here. I do understand that Loren isn't misspelled though. It's a variant. The association with Sophia Loren, though, (even if it's her last name) makes it a smidge girly. But this is coming from the one who wants to name a son Ashley, so don't put too much stock in my word.

I think Loren is definitely usable as a middle name and quite usable as a first. I do much prefer Laurence, but Loren isn't bad at all.

Does anyone know the name of the crazy screaming guy who sold baseball cards on a satellite TV channel?

I remember watching this maniac on my friend's TV when we were younger in the early to mid 90's. Just wondering if anyone knew who he was. They used to sell baseball cards for dirt cheap, and the guy would scream and go crazy about how cheap the cards were.
