Will They Remember The Moment

Why do we remember the bad moments in our lives more than the good ones?

We remember bad times better than the good because our emotions influence how we process memories.Negative emotions generally involve more thinking, and the information is processed more thoroughly than positive ones. Our memory network works in this way so as to enhance your chances of survival if you encounter a similar negative event.Example: Think of a past event like a wedding or a presentation you gave etc, while you recall you will observe that you remember a negative comment given by someone distinctly. You will also remember the happy moments but the emotions of the negative comment will subconsciously stick to your mind for a long time which in future occasions will help you to deal with it in a better way.

What will be the next "do you remember where you were when" moment?

In my lifetime these have been:Pearl HarborAssassination of President KennedyLanding on the moon9/11 destruction of the twin towersThree bad, one unique. I'd include the collapse of the Soviet Union, but I don't think there's a memorable date, and I don't remember what I was doing when it happened.Candidates for next totally memorable moment:Explosion of a nuclear device in a city anywhere in the world.Realignment of the San Andreas fault with a massive, destructive earthquake.A large asteroid or meteorite strikes earth like the Tunguska explosion in Russia in 1908.A military attack on a major power, starting World War III.Arrival of outer space aliens.Discovery of a cheap, ecologically friendly replacement for fossil fuel.Al Gore discovers "the scientists were wrong," the earth is cooling, and we need to do something right now to prevent Niagara Falls from freezing solid.

Why do we never remember/feel the moment when we fall asleep?

This is due to the fact that sleep is a gradual process and you experience 5 stages of sleep cyclically. The stages are as follows:Stage 1- this is the restless stage of sleep. It usually lasts about 15–30 minutes.Stage 2 - in this stage, youre finally falling deeper into sleep and your brain generates electrical impulses (K complexes and sleep spindles) to help you stay asleep when there's a noise in your environment that would typically wake you up.Stage 3 - slow wave sleep (deep sleep)Stage 4 - Deep sleep - This is the most restful sleep.R.E.M. Sleep - This is when you experience dreams and experience limb paralization from your neck down.Due to these stages and how your brain functions during sleep, you simply can't know exactly how long it takes for you to fall asleep. Falling asleep is a gradual - not instant - process. Also, sleep does not mean you are unconscious. Numerous sleep studies have show that there is a difference in your brain waves when you are asleep as opposed to when you are unconscious. The EEG readings aren't the same. And the idea that we lose consciousness when we fall asleep is an antiquated theory that was popular around René Descartes’ time. But has long since been disproven.

Do girls remember awkward/weird Moments?

It really varies...sometimes awkward is really endearing and can make a girl like a guy more. It really depends on the girl and the situation. As far as forgetting them? Probably not, if I noticed it, I don't forget it. It's whether or not I choose to make a big deal out of it or not. If I feel insulted, I definitely don't forget!

Why can't we remember the exact moment we fall asleep? Do we literally fall unconscious?

First of all, falling asleep is a very smooth transition. You just don't go from an awake state to a deep sleeping state within seconds.Second, memory formation depends heavily on changes. We are most likely to remember something new rather than something that doesn't really alter over time. Falling asleep is a rather slow change so there is limited need to remember it.Third, pre-sleep goes hand in hand with decreased perceptual awareness. Another reason you don't notice the small changes. Therefore, with decreased awareness there is just less content to store. So what are you expected to remember if you don't really notice anything?Fourth, with the decreased perceptual awarenesses, we switch to an internal reflective state thinking of things rather than learning new things. So you start to think about your perfect lunch that day, how yummy it was and what you will have tomorrow.

Why do I remember almost every bad/good moment? They get reviewed in my mind, and I suffer.

If you remember each and everything denotes that you are living in the past, not in the present. You said they get reviewed in your mind. No, you are reviewing them in your mind. So ultimately you will suffer, no doubts. So try to live in the present and achieve it. Living in present is not so easy as said. It needs lot of practice. You can't suddenly go to the park and admire the beauty of children's play. Just can't see the waves in the sea and forget yourself. You should implement this in day to day activities.Learn to admire the smell of coffee when you first have it in the morning. Count the steps while you walk. Like a chain reaction you will go to the details like construction of steps, who were included in the same, how much education does the engineer need to have etc.Practice this for few days. Gradually it will become a habit. Besides whenever the past event comes to your mind replace it with the current one. Try to focus on good music, learn to go with the flow of each and everything. Even if you don't like to do so force yourself to do it.There are lots of books, motivational articles, books available today. Make use of them and have a better life than previous day.All the best…
