Will This Laptop Be Good For What I Need It For

What's a good laptop for college?

I'm thinking about getting the Dell XPS 15 9560. Whatever laptop I want to get will likely be the only laptop I will use throughout my college education so I want it to last. I do play some games and this laptop seems to be able to play them. My parents suggest I get the newest MacBook but that's because seemingly everyone has a MacBook in college.

Are laptops good for gaming?

Yes, they are. Mostly the hardcore type of gamers prefer to build their custom pcs and they have some amazing specs but they are very expensive and their are also many disadvantages like portability for example. Now coming back to your question. Laptops are amazing for gaming. They are now competing and even defeating these custom pcs. Some laptops like Alienware or Msi Titan or the new launched Hp Omen 17 are actually very good and are great for gaming. Plus every other benefit of having a laptop. But they also cost a Fortune. It all depends on usage and lifestyle.

Is 800mhz for a laptop computer good or do i need more?

I have a computer that is 750MHz, but I had 768Mb RAM. I am not a gamer, I used to hook it up to network in my research lab for searching references and writing papers. I even installed a TV card to watch March madness. It worked just fine. You probably need a bigger hard drive. I build that computer myself, I had 20Gb, now it'd be too small for the programs and storage.

Do medical students need a good laptop?

You will need laptop toMake presentations,Watch videos related to your studies,Read topics from the powerpoint presentations of your professors,Read research papers from internet,Use softwares like spss, EPI info if you are doing a research,Download related documents about health programmes, etc.,Store all your data of MBBS from lectures to memories. You may also join online courses for exam preparations. So I think a laptop with an average specifications will help you often.

What's a good laptop for college students?

For a laptop that can last the few years in college will have several options. You can find these information easily actually. I recommend Acer as they are affordable and will last long enough for college as long as taking care or it nicely.

Acer Swift 1
Only around $300
Pro: Very nice portability, will last a year or two at the very least, cheap
Con: Very tiny storage and that is bad on student with major that needs larger storage

Acer Aspire E 15
About $400
Pro: Alright CPU, very long battery life
Con: I can't really think of one for this model except maybe a little heavy

2018 Dell Inspiron 5000
About $600
Pro: 8th CPU that is very powerful, up to standard 8 GB RAM, very good price for performance
Con: Poor screen color and keyboard can be uncomfortable. Basically not recommended for any art related work

lenovo thinkpad helix
About $400
Pro: Weak CPU but enough for general use, stronger CPU cost about $100 more, SSD storage
Con: Small storage but enough for most uses, weak CPU might cause stutter and freeze on some software

There is a lot more but these would be my pick for student use. you just got to search the model number and look for reviews online.

What good PC games can my new laptop Sony -VAIO VGN-FZ430E/B handle? COD4 I hope?

Not very good games. That laptop only has intergrated graphics and you can't upgrade it. So you wouldn't be able to play COD4. You would be able to play things like sims.

Do I need a good laptop to learn programming languages?

No not necessarily! The only necessity within a laptop to learn programming is the capability to execute your programs. Many programming languages are lightweight and don't demand a powerful hardware. But in future, if you wish to get into any development fields like Android development or C#, they demand a bit powerful hardware for a smooth experience. So, it basically depends on factors like for how long are you going to use that laptop, to what extent are you going to program, mobility, battery life expectations. If you are a college student like me then choose one that is of light weight and has good battery life. Macbook Air fits into this category.Hope this helps :-)

Will this laptop run a modded Skyrim Special Edition?

Hello,

I was wondering if this laptop's specs are good enough to run Special Edition with some graphic mods like SFO and Realistic Water 2.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07CGLQFRK/?coliid=IP3YT68E0I58H&colid=36AB5QUM016SA&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

In case you might be worried about a risky link I'll summarize the specs.

Intel 8th Gen i5+8300H, NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti 4GB, 8GB RAM, 16GB Intel Optane Memory, 1TB HDD

It also can be upgraded up to 16 gigs of ram and have an ssd drive at a later date.

The mods I'm hoping to run, graphics wise are, SMIM, Noble Skyrim Perfomance Pack, amidianborn (Textures work just the meshes needed to be fixed which someone released a mod that did that) SFO, Simply Bigger Trees, Verdant (Maybe), dyndolod and other armor and weapon retextures. My current laptop before its screen cracked was able to run Oldrim modded though not as intensely as I hope this one can. I don't want like holy crap crazy graphics bit what I listed and a reshade to get rid of the yellow tint would be nice. (I Can't Believe It's Not ENB 4 is the idea I'm thinking of.)

If it can't run Special Edition on High then I'll live with Oldrim. I just know special edition is a bit more stable since it is 64 bit versus 32 bit. I can't go higher in price unfortunately its this or a regular laptop.

Thanks ahead of time.

What type of laptop is good for a geology major?

Any decent laptop will do you fine. You won't need to run any nasty programs or anything, so you don't need a really good one.
Any software you do need will be handled by your college computers, you probably won't have access to it at home.

A decent camera is fairly handy, but be warned. There's no point getting an expensive professional camera - your gear tends to get a bit battered when you go on field trips. Mine certainly suffered, anyway!

Useful bits - a student Compass/Clinometer is very useful. Good quality hiking boots, with some ankle support. Trainer/sneaker style are no good. A very good set of waterproofs (depending on where you are studying - I did a lot of fieldwork in wet and windy Wales/Ireland). A good hat will never go amiss, either. I had a fantastic wide brimmed waterproof number.

Other than that, a spare liver might be good. You may well find yourself spending more time in the pub than you first expect... (The Uncyclopedia article is surprisingly accurate on this point...!)

Edit: Ignore Elnora. Not only is spending 1.2k on a laptop insane (unless you're in the market for a high spec gaming box), but Sony Vaio's are overpriced junkheaps.
