Will This Work Hdmi Cable And Ipad

Can an hdmi cable replace a vga cable?

If both have hdmi sockets I see no reason not to use them.

How do I connect an iPad to both an ethernet cable (for tapping into a home video stream) and an HDMI-based beamer at the same time?

Like This:That is an Apple lightning to HDMI adapter connected to the iPad, a lightning to USB3 adapter connected to the HDMI adapter, and Apple USB to Ethernet adapter connected to the USB3 adapter, and a 29W USB-C power supply feeding the USB3 adapter, because this combo sucks plenty of power on its own, never mind the power drawn by the iPad’s GPU when doing video. (without the external power, this will drain a fully charged iPad in just over an hour. If you use just the standard 12W adapter, it will drain it in about 3 hours)

How can I use my iPad as an HDMI monitor?

You need a box that takes the signal and dumps it somewhere the iPad can see. If you’re on a PC or Mac, they can be that box, making it as simple as downloading an app on your iPad and computer (Duet, AirDisplay, iDisplay, etc $5–15) and connecting them together. This comes at the cost of a performance hit on your computer but the massive bonus that usually you can use your iDevice touchscreen to interact with the computer, in some cases even including full Apple Pencil support. If this sounds like what you want, you’ll need to compare apps until you’ve found the features you need — some only connect over wifi, some work over the charging cable, some are Mac-only or PC-only.For full performance on the device the HDMI is coming from, as well as general HDMI compatability (letting you use it as a screen for anything, including consoles, but losing touchscreen support!) you need increasingly expensive hardware depending on the quality or features you want. (Please note that HDMI input to a laptop or desktop is the same story, there’s just more products available already so they’re cheaper in general)For now, from what I’ve found, at the low end you’re already looking at $360 for the Febon iCapture that can connect any HDMI source to Apple’s lightning-to-USB adapters.iPhone (iOS) use USB hdmi grabber card with live streamAfter that the price goes up steeply since we’re into the genuine professional-grade equipment and I mostly stopped caring at that point, but one of the highlights is something like a $3000–5000 box from Teradek that you connect the HDMI cable to and it outputs a wifi signal your iPad(s) can connect to and view the video feed. Very useful, way way way too expensive.

How and why do HDMI cables stop working?

HDMI cables have 19 pins, and they are soldered to the connector on both ends. These solder commections can fail after repeated insertions or cable flex, and the small pins in the connector can become bent or broken. This is especially so with the lowest-cost cables, which of course are built at the lowest possible cost. While the cable itself can fail due to excessive flex or stress, it’s most likely strain at the connector which can kill a cable. There is one other possibility: HDMI cables have different speed ratings. A cable might be just fine, until one day, for instance, you run some 4K or 4K60 video to your 4KTV, and now you’re sending two times more data over the HDMI cable, which may not support that speed.

Does an HDMI cable transmit sound or just picture?

Not like other video connections, HDMI includes audio, eliminating the need for separate audio cables. HDMI delivers the best high definition picture and highest quality sound and doing away with excess cables. If you are planning to buy a high definition television and also subscribe to HD programming, HDMI is a very good choice fro connecting your components together and guaranteeing the highest quality video and sound.I would recommend Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPortTransmits high-definition audio and video from your computer to an HDTV for video streaming or gaming; Connect and configure your monitor for an Extended Desktop or Mirrored DisplaysConvenient cable directly connects a DisplayPort (DP, DP++, DisplayPort++) equipped computer to an HDTV, monitor, or projector with HDMI inputSupports video resolutions up to 1920x1200 / 1080P (Full HD) and flawless audio pass-thru for uncompressed digital 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channelsGold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors, and foil & braid shielding combine together to provide both superior cable performance and reliable connectivityDisplayPort connector with latches provides a secure connection with a release button that must be depressed before unpluggingHere you can find more info: 5 Best HDMI Cables

Why my Apple HDMI adaptor will not play an iTunes rental movie from an iPad?

It should work seamlessly well. The only times I have seen a problem is when the HDMI adaptor was not an authentic Apple HDMI adaptor, in which case it just might not ever work with copy protected material (rental movies are copy protected and HDMI has a copy protection mechanism that works fine with Authentic Apple HDMI cables and adaptors but often fails with inauthentic cables).

Apple TV to DVI, how do I make sound work?

You need to run the HDMI through an AV Receiver that will strip off the sound and send it to the attached speakers. Then run HDMI->DVI cable from the AV Receiver to the TV.

An AV Receiver is also the proper destination for the optical feed from the AppleTV box if you decide to go that route.

Sorry - but without an HDMI input on your TV - you need some other gear to properly use the apple TV.

Perhaps an iPad might be a better solution to watch your iTunes content.

My laptop has an HDMI port, but it has a cover?

Laptop manufacturers usually place non-removable plastic covers over ports that are not available. They will use the same case for multiple models or variations of a single model.

For example, HP could make your Compaq laptop in several variations. One would have an HDMI port, and some may not. You have on that does not.

Even if you break the plastic off of your chassis, you will likely not even have an HDMI port on the laptop.

...Alternatively, there's a fully working port under the plastic and I'm completely wrong.

It's up to you if you want to to break the plastic cover off or not. You could just be exposing a big hole.

How exactly does Apple TV work?

I'm interested in getting some sort of smart add-on for my dumb TV, and because I have an iPad, iPhone, and iMac, I'm considering Apple TV first.

What I'm primarily interested in is how AirPlay works when screen-sharing from the iMac (or whatever) to the TV. EX: If I used AirPlay to share my screen from my iPad or iMac to the TV via Apple TV, would I be able to play music/movies that are saved on my device? And would the sound come through the TV or from the original device?
