Will uninstalling java speed up my pc?

If I uninstall programs, would this make my computer run faster?

It wont make your computer run faster necessarily. Technically what slows down your computer is not usually what is stored on the hard drive but what programs are running in the background. Upon booting up your computer, the operating system starts running programs that are placed in the startup. Some are necessary to keep and others can be "disabled" so that the unnecessary processes don't eat your available resources (memory) and slow down the computer. To check your startup you can click Start, then in the run box type in "msconfig". Once there make your way to the startup tab at the top and take a look at what is in there. If you see things that are not necessary you may disable them and this might help with the speed. To top things off, I would also recommend that you do a disk defrag which will help as well.

Will Java slow down my computer?

It's almost certain that you really only have one version installed, and the control panel is wrong. To make sure, you could try to uninstall all of them (starting with the newest), and once you're done - whether or not they were really all there in the first place - you could then restart your PC, then download and install the latest Java from here:

As far as whether having one or more versions of Java installed will slow down your computer, the answer is no - that's because Java isn't used most of the time and only a few programs and web sites ever use it, and only while those programs are running.

Finally, the only way to make it run faster is to get a faster computer. :-)

Wanting to uninstall programs, but not sure if I need these programs?

It leaves the old stuff in case you want to roll back recent changes (System Restore).

I wouldn't worry too much about what's on your machine. Instead, take a look at the services and processes that are actually started each time you boot the machine.

E.g., Windows Media Player is nice, but if you never play any media, all it does it take up space. It won't slow you down.

But various tools (like Adobe, Java, and others) will install "Short-Cut Starters" into your start-up set. They do this so that all the "slow" stuff is done before you invoke their program, so when you invoke their program, it comes up faster (because half of it is already in memory).

I HATE those. Most of them are a waste of resources. And when I start up something, I EXPECT it to take some time starting up. Don't slow everything else down!

ANYhow. What you want to do is run the "msconfig" program, then check the "Startup" tab. I think you'll be shocked how much crap gets started up every time you boot your system, some of which you never use (so who cares how fast it starts?) and some of which you won't even know what it is.

THAT is the list you want to ask people which things can be shut off to help speed up your system.

How do I speed up Windows 10 so I can run Minecraft without lagging? I won't delete System32.

Basic steps - stop all running and unused services. This can cause some system stability issues, so take your time and disable one.. test, and if stable disable another. Do some due diligence before you go randomly disabling things.Make sure your system has sufficient ram.. you didnt say how much so I cannot say if you have enough. If your system has 16 gb in it.. you’re probably good, if your system has 4gb, you probably want to upgrade.Defragment your HDD.. yes, it can have an effect.Uninstall unused programs.Prevent programs from running at startup.Run a virus scan - malware bytes is good and free.Update your drivers.I’m assuming you want to PLAY minecraft, not run your own server.. so make sure your system meets at least the minimum specs (which aren’t really that demanding).Your system specs aren’t listed.. and as such we have NO idea what we are working with here. I have ran windows 10 on an intel atom powered netbook.. and I have run it on a 16 core threadripper.. the two experiences were vastly different.Dont go deleting files from anything but your user profile.. The fact that you even mentioned that you’d not delete system32 indicates either you have already even considered it and disregarded it (makes me question your experience.. its a good decision, but not one most people would even bother mentioning) or you have some real asshole friends who have already suggested it.. congrats for not falling for the trolling.

What can I do to speed up my computer?

Having two different virus protection programs active at the same time can (and will) cause system slow down because both are running real time scanners at the same time. If your processor is only a 2.0 GHz processor, then you could very easily be maxing out your processor whenever you try to do anything. 4GB of RAM is average, but consider that Windows 7 utilizes 1.5GB of your RAM at any given time just to run. I try to max out on RAM whenever I can. If you haven't done so already, Run Msconfig (only if you consider yourself savvy though), and turn off all system start up processes. Restart your computer to see if it loads any faster. If it does, turn on a necessary startup program and retry the startup sequence until you find the program that is causing it to load excessively slowly.
