Windows 8 " ATTEMPTED SWITCH FROM DPC" error started appearing on Blue Screen of Death! HELP!!?
Hi, I run windows 8 on a toshiba satellite with an i7 processor, 16gb or ram, 1tb hard drive, nvidia GT750m graphics card and harman/kardon sound system. All in all a decent off the shelf laptop. I have had it for just over a year and i need it for work specifically for graphics and 3d modelling. I am now panicking like crazy because I don't want to use it for work incase it crashes. It has crashed about 4 times. The first two times the BSOD appeared, the second two times the laptop just froze. It has done this when im not even really using it, watching films (VLC), listening to music (youtube) etc. I have done a full virus scan and found nothing. I also dont have many programmes on here. The most recent programme I have installed is kaspersky anti-virus 2015 and since doing so I have had this problem. (legitimate digital download from their site) Should I unistall it and reinstall it? or is there another fix/problem I should explore? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Error 15 Windows 7 Toshiba?
Power off your machine, press and hold down the '0' (zero) key while powering on your machine, keep holding down the '0' (zero) key until you see the Toshiba Recovery menu. Then, return your system to its factory default out-of-the-box condition. If that fails Your best bet at this point would be to do a clean install of Windows 7 on your laptop. Do you have the backup media provided by your Laptop maker? You will find your CD key on the bottom of your laptop. Good luck
How do I solve the "you need to format the drive" problem in Windows without formatting?
Install software such as Recuva or NTFS Undelete to recover files on the drive and, after recovering all you can, format it.DON'T FORMAT your drive before attempting a recovery because that would overwrite your files, which couldn't be saved anymore.Your files are still physically there but the operating system has problems accessing them on a logical level, because of hardware failure or software reasons. You could also try running chkdsk /r to repair your hard disk from command line.If you have troubles dealing with command line, keep in mind that you first need to move from your hard drive (C:) to your external hard drive, by entering its letter in a Command Prompt. If your external HDD has been assigned the letter F, for example, you simply want to enter this command after the prompt (without quotes): "F:"You'll see that now you'll have the letter F in the prompt (F:\>).The prompt, if you don't know about it, is :\>It means the system is ready for your input (you'll notice that the > looks like an arrow going out, towards an output) or, in other words, it's waiting for you to enter a command. After you made sure you're in the right drive (i.e. your external HDD), you can now run CHKDSK /R

How do I fix Windows 7 startup repair?
I’m going to go out on a limb here & suggest a few things:If at all possible, pull the HDD, put it in an enclosure, & copy your data off of the unit first! Then re-install the HDD & proceed.Run the memory diagnostic as a first diagnostic. If it finds a memory error (unlikely, but it does happen), then power off, open up your computer & pull the memory sticks out & re-install them. Do this a few times as your goal is to rub off any corrosion on the contacts in order to ensure a clean set of contacts. Close up the computer, power back on & re-run the memory diagnostic. If the memory diagnostic still detects an error, start pulling memory sticks & re-running the diagnostic until you get a clean run.Run the System recovery again. If #2 fails, try system image recovery. If #3 fails, STOP! Pull the HDD, put it in an enclosure, & copy your data off of the unit! Then re-install the HDD & re-load Win7 from your recovery media. Copy your data back in & re-install your programs.Note: If the recovery attempts all fail, then a full restore is necessary. Also, if you have to pull the HDD, also run a Disk Diagnostic on it *before* re-installing it into your PC.Extra note: Why do you have Win7 on D:? What is on C:?
