Windows 8 Installation New Hard Drive

Cannot detect hard drive when cleaning installation Windows 8?

I have a Toshiba Dynabook SS S30 106S/2W, Genuine Intel Core Solo U1300 @ 1.06GHZ, 2GB of RAM and 74.56GB of Hard Disk space, that is currently running a Windows XP Professional SP3. I tried booting my netbook to a Windows 8 installation disc through an External CD/DVD ROM, and followed the on-screen instructions. After that, when it directs me to the choices at where the windows 8 must be putted, I haven't seen any drivers in the selection.

I've also tried to run the disk through the operating system, but it is also said that the current OS is not supported by Windows 8.

Please help... I really want to use Windows 8 'coz new features about windows is really off-the-hook.. hehehe!.

How do you create a disk partion on Windows 7 and install Windows 8?

Hello! I try to do this before but I just mess up my hard drive and I end up buying a new hard drive. I want to install windows 8 and use it along with windows 7. How can I successfully create a partition that will work for windows 8?

Does new hard drives come with a disc? Is Windows 7 easy to install?

Or whatever you call it. You know, a disc that will help you reinstall Windows? Kinda like a system recovery. Ok, maybe I'm not using the right words. : s

I'm getting a brand new internal hard drive to replace my original. I know that I'll have to reinstall Windows 7 on a new hard drive. But I was just wondering if it's easy to do? I know I won't be able to do it if it requires my HP System Recovery Discs. Because they don't work proper.

I have an HP Pavilion Home Premium 64-bit Desktop PC, Model number p7-1108p

I can't use my System Recovery Discs to bring my PC back to factory default settings (how come every time I make myself some System Recovery discs, this happens? They never work). So I'm getting a new one. I just hope they don't cost too much. And I hope I get the right type. I know nothing about this stuff.

How can I tell what version of Windows is installed on a hard drive without booting it?

Two ways:1:Look in the ../Windows/System32 folder for a file called "ntoskrnl.exe". If this file exists, it is at least an NT based system. (I assume you are not looking for Win95 or earlier.)Now do a properties and examine the details for a product version.4.x: NT 4.x5.0: Windows 20005.1: Windows XP5.2: Windows 2003 Server or Windows XP-64-bit6.0: Windows Vista6.1: Windows 76.2; Windows 86.3: Windows 8.1This does not however  tell you which flavor of those systems (Pro, Home, etc). On one device, I see 6.2.9200 so I can assume this is a Windows 8 disk.2:Or, to make it even easier, you can open the file ../Windows/System32/license.rtf with Word pad. Guess what, it tells you EXACTLY what system is installed. On that same drive above, this file said "WINDOWS 8 PRO"

Minecraft not working after installing new hard drive and windows?

Before I got my new hard drive I used the stock one that came with the computer, Minecraft worked great on it. But then that hard drive went bad, so I bought a brand new hard drive and installed windows 8.1 pro on it, and Minecraft won't boot up' I installed the latest Java. Could someone please help?

Why I get the message: we couldn't find any drive to install windows?

Hi
I recently changed my laptop's operating system from win 7 to win 8(dell inspiron n5110 core i5, 500G HDD, 4G RAM). after a few weeks the win 8 hangs repeatedly, and unfortunately I lost my win 7 installing disk. so I installed vista. Vista make a new 2Gb drive automatically. after some time I decided to install win8 again. So then I put my Windows Home Edition 64 bit DVD into the DVD drive and booted from the DVD drive. The installation went through normally up until I had to choose what drive I had to install to. there were 6 drives. I was wondered! Because there was a new drive 39Mb:
1- 39 Mb
2- 2Gb
3- C =100 Gb
4- D = 146 Gb
5- F = 146 Gb
6- G = 76 Gb
I formatted the first three drives and select drive C to installing windows. I’m not sure if first two drives were empty before formatting them or not( I didn't save any thing in drive 2 Gb already. Then I clicked next to install windows. Installing went through normally but after multiple restarting windows show an error:
"Recovery
your PC couldn't start properly
after multiple tries, the operating system on your PC failed to start, so it needs to be repaired.
Error code: 0x0000001
you'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. if you don't have any installation media ( like a disk or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
press Enter to try again
Press F8 for startup settings".
After that I frequently tried to reboot win8 but at this time when reaching the step of ‘which drive you want to install windows’ I get the message "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage drive click load driver". I clicked load driver bottom but I don’t know what driver I need and how installing it. now i can't install any operating system( win8, win 7 and vista) on the laptop. How do i get back my hard drives? However I had 350 Gb private data in hard drives D, F and G( except C) and unfortunately I haven’t any backup of them. I’m so afraid of losing my data:sad:! Please help me what should I do about this.
Any help will be appreciated

Would installing a new hard drive in a locked HP desktop with WIN 8 let me program it so I can use it?

When you say “Program it”, i have no idea what you mean, so i will assume you have either, a) forgot windows password / locked yourself out of a windows account; b) Stole / bought a computer with a physical lock on the case, c) have a computer with a bios / disk password, such as a bios setup password, D) have a computer with a bitlocker encrypted HDD / SSD, or E) Using a company PC, completely locked down (For example blocked access to USB and hard drives).A) Yes, a new HDD / SSD with a new version of windows will sort that easily, you could get past that with an bootable offline registry editor. UEFI / Legacy bios’s won’t prevent you installing any OS’s as long as Secure Boot isn’t turned on, but that can be turned off in the boot or security menu in the bios. Not via a secret menu. Also secure boot key’s can just be wiped ready for a new OS supporting secure boot.B) Unless you can access the inside of the case or plug in an external HDD into a usb port etc, no, a HDD will not sort this.C) Dependent on type of lock. On all my PC’s / Laptops, i have a BIOS password. it asks me for it on boot. So no, a new HDD won’t change that. however remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds will do the trick. If it’s a USB type of lock (Insert usb to boot) then no, you’re screwed. My server has that lock, and i’ve replaced the mobo a good 3 times because i’ve lost or damaged the lock USB stick.D) Yes, a new HDD / SSD and OS will solve this problem. However previous HDD will still not be able to be accessed.E) Dependent on the OS, type of group policy settings enforced and a number of other things, all too complicated / deep to discuss here, especially at 21:23.

Why would I get hard drive failure after installing a new CMOS battery?

I suspect that the PC may be fairly old, and in some PCs the parameters of the disk drive such as the number of cylinders, heads, etc have to be set up in the BIOS. These settings can be lost while changing the CMOS battery. In some BIOS systems, there is a scan function that allows the BIOS to identify a number of possible sets of parameters. If your BIOS does this, then you may have to try each one to find the correct settings.Another possibility is that the default boot drive information has been lost and the BIOS is looking in the wrong place for the boot drive.A further possibility is that the firmware is actually UEFI. By default, this will normally expect a GPT disk and EFI bootstrap. If the disk is actually using an MBR partition table (often identified as a DOS disk although this is just a historic name). Some UEFI firmwares have a setting for CSM or Legacy booting. This is a setting that may have changed as a result of the CMS battery being removed.

I have a Dell laptop with a pre-installed license version of Windows 8 installed. Since the internal hard drive was malfunctioning, I have to replace it with a new hard drive. Is there any way that I could get the same Windows 8 installed on the new hard drive?

Shane Tennent has the right answer. The price is about $40. I did this with a Dell laptop for Win7 last year.

I have a new computer. If I have the installation disc, how do I install Windows 8 without an optical drive?

Either make a bootable USB installer using a computer with a disk drive,or buy a USB optical drive, and set your computer's BIOS to boot from that.
