How to fix the broken brightness setting in Windows 8.1?

LEAVE YOUR PC HARD WIRED TO THE ROUTER FOR THIS PROCESS!!!!!Do not go to the Microsoft website and then install the drivers. Instead, you want to go to your manufacturing company website (Toshiba, HP, Sony, Gateway, etc…). There should be a search box for searching. Type, “Drivers”. And press enter. There should be something stating drivers. Click on that and try to see if there are any specific drivers that match with your computer. Install them. Just wait leave the computer on for 1 day shut it down the first thing in the morning (LEAVING IT HARD WIRED!!!!!) and let it stay there. The next day (day 3) open the laptop and start it up and play with the functions to see if everything works. If the computer is slow when it starts up, it's normal.

How can I install windows 7 on my broken Windows 8 laptop?

Now I'm getting real sick of this bullshit. I've only had my new laptop for three days running on windows 8, I played some Team Fortress 2 then it froze and I restarted my laptop. Then the automatic repair thing is in a loop and I cant do **** anymore. I want windows 7 back and I have no idea how to do so because I cant boot from my usb and my laptop has no cd/dvd-rom. I've been trying everything. Is there a way to install Windows 7 from my installation usb USING the command prompt since thats the only thing I can access on my ****** up Windows 8 laptop?

How to erase data from broken pc?

If your broken pc will start at all. try this:

You will need a " a ' A ' Drive, a 'Boot disk for Any WIN 98 or WIN ME computer' and a downloaded copy of 'DELPART.EXE' on a 'A Drive floppy".
'DELPART.EXE' can be downloaded from this site for FREE
http://www.juliatexas.com/delpart/delpart.htm

Put in the "Boot disk", start computer, follow all prompts till it gets to this: A:\ ( same as to read the "A Drive " ).
Change Floppy disks.
Type this in: " DIR/w ".
It should read " DELPART.EXE" , If it does show this, Type it in.
Follow the prompts.
If ' successful ', You have " Removed " ALL Partitions and Every thing that was on them.

Now, if you want to, you can try to 'Install a New O/S' , as the HDD should 'Act as if is " Factory Blank ".

A lot of people will not like this answer, It Looks Too Easy, IT WORKS.
I have used this method on a lot of ' Trashed and " Non Format-able " HDDs '.

Hope this helped.

I have genuine version of Windows 8.1 OS. It was preinstalled when I purchased my Dell PC. Now I want to reinstall the OS but don't have a product key or recovery disc. How should I go about?

Modern BIOSes have a unique identifier that keys to the Windows license, so you probably won't need to reactivate. There are a couple of Windows 8 reinstall options. If you can still boot, you can refresh, reset, or restore your PC.If the disk is gone or broken, just download new install media: Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

What's the difference between Windows 7/8 and 10?

Windows 10 is a mess! My internet connection keeps messing up. I'm saving up for a Mac. I'm fed up with broken, dirty Windows!

Is my hard disk broken?

Ok, I think you caught Windows in a mean situation: it tried to write all data to the hibernate file (because you closed the lid) and suddenly it froze when you quickly opened the lid: Jackpot !

Are you sure it was only about closing the lid ? I mean, softly closing, not smashin or hammering it. You should find out what's the cause of the ting-ting-sound ! Maybe there was something broken after you checked the connection of the hd.

You were right, this "drive does not exist" could have been a broken connection - but how should that have happened when closing the lid ??? Then you open the case, check everything inside, close it (because everything was ok as you said) and then it detects the hd ??? Plus you have a sound like a screw tingling around ??? Is it only me who considers something wrong in that story ;-) ?

Solution: Take your new hard disk out of the laptop - maybe let a friend help you. Then connect this new disk to a PC (surely the PC must be off when you do that!). Boot the PC. Log in and see if you can find the new disk in the explorer. If yes, it should be ok and the problem is not the disk.

And btw: Just because the laptop is from 2011 is no reason to be "not old enough to be broken". First, you may have bought it in 2011 but do you know how long it laid around at the vendor's storage ? And depending on the usage, a laptop can definitely die in two years.

But your story gives another picture - or this is just a silly incident. In such cases the truth always helps to find out the real problem.

How can I fix a broken computer screen?

Replace it. If it has major issues, you’ll probably just need to replace it, as opening up modern LCD’s is actually rather dangerous, due to the exposed components of the power supply. But, of course, there are less severe issues that can sometimes be fixed with simple solutions. If there are pixels that are stuck displaying a particular color (not totally black, as those would be dead pixels), find a “stuck pixel fixer” video and display it on that display. It will simply display a bunch of different colors really quickly on the screen, trying to “shock” the pixels back into action. You might want to cover the screen with a cloth or paper or something so you don’t get a headache from the colors. Then just come back after a few hours and see if it helped.Dead pixels might respond to this method, but most of the time, they’re just totally gone.If there are vertical lines of a random color, this is a problem I’ve seen on two different monitors. For both of them, applying torque to the display fixed it. Just grab the right and left edges with your hands and twist in opposite directions. Exercise some caution here, as you don’t want to break it, but don’t worry too much as I’d be very surprised if it’s flimsy enough to be broken with bare hands. One of the monitors I’ve been using for several years with no problems on my home PC. The other one is one I found at work, which still displays the lines whenever I start it up, but they go away after about 15 minutes of use.Any other issues you have should be first addressed by re-seating all cables, swapping out cables, and if you can, resetting the monitor settings to factory defaults.
