Windows 8 Photos App Wont Open

Windows 10 apps won't open up.How can I fix it?

Ok here's the easy answer fix that I normally have a quick phone conversation about this problem: Critical Error – Start menu and Cortana aren’t working.  We’ll try to fix it the next time you sign in. The thing is likely this will happen to every and I mean every Windows 10 user at least once and they should follow the answer I just linked because it works. I will even copy and paste the answer for you:We are aware that some customers are experiencing this error, and are actively investigating.  You may be able to temporarily resolve the issue by booting to Safe Mode, and then immediately booting back into normal mode.  This workaround may resolve your problem for a while, however the error may return later. To boot to Safe Mode: From Hold the Shift key down while you press the Power icon and select Restart.Once you are within the Windows Recovery Environment, select Troubleshoot, then Advanced options, thenStartup Settings, and Restart. When it restarts, you should see a number of options.  Press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with networking.Once you sign into your account in Safe Mode, you’re done.  Just restart your PC to return to a normal boot.If you are running a 3rd-party antivirus software, we recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the antivirus software, as this may also provide a workaround for this problem.  The easiest way to uninstall an app is to find it in the Start menu’s app list, right-click the app, and select Uninstall. Some customers have reported that adding a new local administrator account has resolved their Critical Error. If that doesn’t work, try removing the original administrator account now that you have a new one created. We would like to thank the community for providing logs to help us investigate this issue.  With your help, we now have enough information provided in the logs you have provided to drive continued investigations into a solution.  Thank you! Some additional content has been published here. It includes details on creating the new local administrator account as suggested above.

Why won't my Windows 10 Photo Viewer operate? How do I fix this?

I had the same issue when it comes to movies & TV app sometimes if you're using a Registry Cleaner sometimes I can also screw up some apps not to start and there's no way you can actually fix this I tried tested and out when mine broke I tried to delete the app but it wouldn't let me it keeps saying the app was installed even know if it was uninstalled so the only way I can actually fix it was redo windows I tried that trick in the default settings like Microsoft told me and from other third-party sites and then and it seems to work like they say it does so that is my best option when I restored my computer or reinstall Windows it works fine just remember don't use Registry Cleaner for Windows 10 it has a tendency of screwing up movies & TV app in the photo app as well sometimes the music app with also have some conflicts

I can't crop a picture in Windows Photo Gallery?

This picture was downloaded off the internet 7 years ago. It is not protected by the owner. I have edited this picture before on Windows XP and found no security issues in properties.

However it seems the problem is that Windows Photo Gallery cannot edit bitmap files. I opened in Paint and saved as a jpeg and was able to access the edit options. I tried saving as a bitmap yet this file was also unable to be edited.

It is disappointing that MS seems to have reduced file compatability in its newer "Live Essentials" applications that replaced the older programs. I recall having similar issues with the video editing software. And in the new software, installing codec packs doesn't actually help like it did with the original movie maker.

Why can't I print photos in color from Windows Photo Viewer?

Because you have a monochrome printer!Just kidding. Here's what you need to do:Go to Printers and Faxes in Control Panel.Right-click the connected printerClick Printer PropertiesChoose Device Settings TabScroll to the Bottom of the pageSet Device Type "Color" instead of Autodetect.
